Cute little river retreat in the heart of the Cuchara Valley!
3 Miles to the charming downtown Cuchara, walking distance to several mountain trails, 15 miles to small town of La Veta, within a few hours of Wolf Creek Ski Area, Great Sand Dunes and Denver!
3 Bedrooms. 1 bedroom features king size super plush bed and a private 3/4 bath, second bedroom has queen size super plush bed, third has pullout double sofa with memory foam mattress (room doubles as a game room). Quaint deck out back is right on the river with a small sitting area and barbecue. Small kitchen has eat in island and all needed kitchen appliances (just small sized). Front sitting area has propane stove, sofa and 2 large recliners with views of the great outdoors. 200 ft of river frontage to explore. Several local streams and ponds create a serene setting for you to unwind and enjoy! Yes, there is Wi-Fi. 47" smart TV in game room with DVD player. Only downside may be the limited eating areas to seat 6 together. 4 can sit at the island with 2 in the sitting area (TV trays provided), 4 can sit at the dining/poker table in the game room, 4 on the deck.

Peaceful surroundings

Very clean. Its a, beautiful sitting in back along the river. I thought it was going to be a little more isolated, but it was quiet and peaceful.

Laid-back Texan

My family and I genuinely enjoyed our stay in Colorado. The cabin had beautiful views and the sound of the creek was a delight and calming. We had the pleaaure of seeing our first snow fall in Colorado and the view that morning was spectacular. We will definitely go back.

Beautiful mountain valley cabin

Modern cabin by the river had all the conveniences of home. Viewed and heard the river from the deck of the cabin. Quiet neighborhood.

Absolutely Wonderful

What a gem of a cabin! We slept so well hearing the sound from the river! It’s a great place to relax, catch up on your reading and look at the stars. I would highly recommend it!

Second time and it’s great.

My son and father in law have stayed here two years in a row. It’s perfect for our needs. Great location outside of Cuchara and right on a beautiful, rushing stream. 15 minutes or so to North Lake or LaVeta.

Retreat by the river

We had a wonderful time. In the river by the house we saw fish in the evening. Deer passed through the open space beside the house one morning. The stars were amazing! Great place for a weekend getaway.

Short but sweet girls getaway

The directions to the property were easy to follow, just remember to download the directions before trying to look for it as cell service is spotty. The location was great, right next to a rushing stream. The furnishings were nice And not overworn . The size was perfect for our needs. Everything was very clean. The beds and pillows and towels were amazingly comfortable as well. The kitchen was well stocked: there was cooking oil, coffee, spices, ice cubes in the ice tray, a coffee, coffee maker and even a bean grinder. If I’m ever returning to the area and it’s Just a small group of us under four people, This is the place that I will request.

Peaceful!

The house is located in a very quiet area a few miles south of Cuchara itself and neighbors are not too close by so plenty of privacy is offered. The river flows just behind the house and the water flowing is so relaxing. Jen was very easy to work with and we really appreciated the advance notice from her regarding mowers coming one day during our stay. One note: If steps are a problem for you, this may not be a perfect rental for you. There are steps up to the front door and 15 steps (but who's counting) to the bedrooms on the 2nd floor. The surrounding countryside especially south of the cabin is absolutely beautiful! I think we explored it all, including the Picketwire Store near Weston a couple times for good ice cream and a bumpy drive over Cordova Pass from Cuchara Pass to Aguilar for our ride home. Fun!! We would definitely go back one day.

Unusual layout

There definitely were 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms...but... The cabin was new and bright and clean and decorated beautifully.

Cozy Cabin by the Creek

The sights and sounds of the river is so relaxing. Since the bedrooms are upstairs, you feel like you are in a tree house! It was our second time to stay in Cuchara and we hope we can stay again since we got married in the Cuchara Chapel 44 years ago.

Peaceful Long Weekend

The property is at a beautiful location right on the creek. The house is cozy. We went up during the winter. The property is very close to Cuchara Mountain Park. We went there and did some cross/country skiing. Not much going on around the area in the winter, but a great place to get away for some peace and quiet.

Cool summer retreat

Escaping the heat of this summer to the serenity and weather of this mountain cabin was very relaxing and enjoyable. The stairs to the bedrooms upstairs challenged the heart and lungs of someone unaccustomed to the elevation, but at 76 I was able to manage. Jen sent all information I requested.

On The River Seclusion

The house is everything it is claimed to be. It has a feel that the owner was just there, but will be back soon. My first time to Cuchara was just over 30 years ago, when there was a camp ground just south of the house between Ruby Lane and the road that heads up to Cucharas Pass. It is good to see that the area is being built up and houses are being built. This house has surrounding neighbors, but the trees have been preserved as well as could be and you feel like you’re isolated from your neighbors. I am glad that I found this place and I will be coming back again soon..

Beautiful Views on the river!

Nice cabin. It had everything we needed. Loved the river behind the cabin and being able to sit with my coffee on the Adirondack chairs right next to the river or on the deck. The mountains and storms did tend to be a nuisance where internet is concerned however that is part of the beauty! We had a wonderful time.

Nice place; but...

Key code not sent, had to make a call in an area with poor cell service. Some lights did not work and bulbs need to be replaced. other than that we love the area and it's a nice modern cabin. Thanks for a good VRBO

Long weekend get away, couldn’t have asked for anything better!

Met family in Cuchara, the perfect halfway point between Albuquerque and Northern Colorado. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed, the surroundings were amazing, and we saw a ton of wildlife. Will be back again, would highly recommend!
