Very nice family! They were a huge help getting our stuff up to the house from the dock. Everything was labeled and had extras of anything you could possibly need. Hopefully we’ll be back next year!

Nick and his family were guests at our farmhouse for 9 days. They treated our home as if it were their own and seemed to really enjoy what we had to offer. We would be honored to have them back next year. Thank You, Linda

I do not think the pictures in the listing capture how nice this farmhouse is. My family had an amazing week exploring the island, swimming at the dock, and enjoying the area. We rented a boat to get access to the island. Boating in this area might not be great for an inexperienced boater like we were. Lots of hazards so you need to be careful. A few days were windy so we had to use a water taxi because it was too rough for our small boat. We had an amazing time, it was quite an adventure for us!

Island adventure

Host was very helpful and communicated well. Enjoyed our stay in the family home. Very easy boat ride to Clayton.

Brown farmhouse Grindstone island

Excellent historical and charming farmhouse and the hosts were very helpful and friendly. More than enough space for my large family and stocked nicely with everything needed. Highly recommended!

Beauty and tranquility

1850 farmhouse that has been loved and cared for. The home was immaculately clean, well stocked, and organized. Linda and Brenda have thought of everything to make guests comfortable, and they were wonderful hosts. Cozy and relaxing, with plenty of room and places to rest and gather. I wish I could spend a month here!!!

Browns Homestead

A large cozy farmhouse house with huge deck and front yard overlooking the Saint Lawrence River. Beautiful views, easy docking and great access to Clayton just across the river. Grindstone Island is quiet and peaceful. A step back in time with dirt roads and beautiful scenery. Our hosts were very accommodating and super friendly. A definite recommendation for a great vacation. D

River fun!

This was the perfect location for our friends and family vacation. Conveniently located across from Clayton with easy access to restaurants and shopping by boat. The hosts were beyond accommodating and had the house stocked with everything we needed! It had old farmhouse charm with the conveniences of modern day. Having laundry on an island was a game changer! Plenty of room for the kids and adults to spread out! 10/10 recommend!

Fantastic experience

Linda’s hospitality was amazing. We had a fantastic experience. We very much appreciated being guided in to the dock as we arrived to avoid shoals. The assistance getting our luggage to the house was so helpful. We enjoyed much of the island, walking and biking. Our large family felt very at home. There was plenty of room and the house has so much charm and character. Everyone we ran into knew the house and spoke so kindly of the family. We can’t wait to go back.

The Brown Family Farmhouse was a wonderful island experience. The historic home was super clean and nicely decorated. The country kitchen had everything you could need. Our family enjoyed walking and biking the dirt roads with the cows nearby. Swimming from the deep water dock was fun too. Easy access by boat to Clayton.

Great place to stay

Awesome property with great view of the St Lawrence river,American channel and Clayton. Easy to get to by boat and straight ride to Clayton NY. We had a great time and look forward to going back next year!! Only thing is one bathroom, so for a large group getting along and sharing is a must. Any issues we simply called owners and they resolved quickly. The house is filled with everything you need for cooking. The house is very welcoming and has a home like feeling. Swimming there is a little tough access but there are a couple local beaches, Overall this is a great place to stay!! Thank you Linda, Brenda and family!

History, open space and peacefulness on Grindstone Island

Great country farmhouse retreat. Wonderful hosts and well-maintained property. Nice dock, great lawn, water views and inland island access--brought our bikes and road the back roads. Thanks to the hosts!

Quaint Farmhouse

We had a wonderful stay on Grindstone Island. The island had much to offer and was centrally located in the heart of the 1,000 Islands. The farmhouse had everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. We hope to return!

Fantastic Farmhouse

The farmhouse was exactly what we expected it to be, cozy, comfortable and plenty of room. Linda and Brenda were super hosts and went above and beyond to get us settled in. The property is beautiful and well kept. The view of the river and Clayton were fabulous. There was plenty of room for our two boats on the dock and the fishing was excellent. Thank you Linda and Brenda for a great stay, we will be back.

A wonderful vacation in a beautiful house on a lovely island!

I can’t say enough positive things about our trip. The farmhouse was charming, roomy, stocked with every imaginable item you could need (from TP to cooking and baking supplies and even tons of books and puzzles for entertainment). Modern conveniences like internet and tv, but charm of vegetable garden and quiet private roads. The water and dock for your boat are just out the back of the house. Large bedrooms, and also plenty of living and family room space to spread out. Linda and Brenda was wonderful to work with and were so communicative and helpful. Unless you plan to totally retreat from the world, you DEFINITELY need to rent a boat. That was easy enough to arrange as wlll. Clayton was a 10-15 minute boat in and was charming and had fun shops and restaurants. We fished, swam, toured, relaxed. A great week!

Farm House On the Island

The Farm house on the Island was more than expected, We had help getting our gear and luggage to the farmhouse(thank Goodness Brenda was a Great Help) every thing we needed was there for our use. We could not have ask for a better place to stay. Thank you for allowing us to share your Farmhouse.
