Beautiful wooded two acre lot with 200' of private sandy lake shore on Lake Freeborn. Alexandria and all it's amenities are only 20 minutes away. Country lake living at it's best! Great fishing, swimming, snowmobiling, and ski hill nearby! Available year round for a relaxing get away. Fully furnished home and well stocked kitchen. We are pet friendly. Hope to see you soon! Wonderful Stay

We absolutely loved our weekend! Place was super clean and cozy. It also had great information for where to go in Alex. Also, right on the lake - you cannot get much better than that! We thought the living room furniture and bed was not very comfortable.

Beyond expectations

The pictures do not do this property justice. The most crystal clear lake with a sandy bottom. Cabin itself has everything you need in a rental. Highly recommend.

Cozy with a View!

Wonderful cabin and property! It was super comfortable and cozy. We also loved that despite being on a lake, the neighbors aren't in view. If we are in the area again in the future we would definitely stay again!

Beautiful lake property

My husband and I had a wonderful time staying at this beautiful lake house. It was a very romantic setting and had the best lake view. We sat by the fire at night and loved the cozy living room with the large windows. We were sad to leave. We’ll definitely be back again in the future!

Our stay for our anniversary was wonderful. The property was well kept and the views were spectacular. Plenty of room for us. Great amenities. We are looking to book in the future.

Beautiful Location! Love the Home!

This place is absolutely adorable. The decor is spot on. More than enough amenities. The view is outstanding. The bed was comfortable. Private and secluded. We absolutely loved it. We would 100% recommend!

Absolutely Perfect !

My wife and I enjoyed EVERY bit of our stay at Butternut! If you are like us and enjoy privacy and beautiful lake views, then you will be happy with this location. It was just what we were looking for. During the days we visited the surrounding towns and loved visiting with the locals. The cabin was spacious, clean and relaxing with all the amenities you need. We look forward to coming back soon, LOVED IT!!

No consideration for sudden medical issues

My 83-year-old dad had to have balloon angioplasty the morning we were supposed to check in, plus our 10-year-old had a severe ear infection and had to be worked into the doctor's schedule. With all of this delaying our departure it was going to be 9:30pm (and a 3-hour drive) before we would get to the property, and we would then have to check out within 34 hours. We asked the host if we could reschedule to a later date and have the funds we had already paid apply to that. We were told no funds would be applied to any future stay. We decided it was simply not worth the 6 hours of driving at this point and decided not to go. The 3 stars reflects a neutral opinion as we never actually saw the property.

Be aware of extra cost for a pet friendly place.

Over all we were VERY happy with everything about our stay. The only disappointing thing was being told I owed an additional fee for having our dog with us. Nothing was said when we made our reservation and paid it in full. I wasn't told about it until we were actually there. Its was disappointing.

Get away and Relax

We loved our stay here and got much needed peace and quiet and relaxation. The lake view from the huge window is beautiful! It was very clean, the bed was very comfortable and I loved all the many textiles, throw blankets, pillows, rugs etc, which gave the house that warm, cozy, homey feeling. We didn’t want to leave. Joseph answered all my questions in a very timely manner and even brought something we needed and left at the door. Very accommodating. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend this house. Thanks for sharing your home Joseph!

Weekend Hunting Trip

A friend and I rented this property for a short weekend hunting trip. We booked last minute, Joseph was very responsive with any questions I had, and the cabin was wonderful! All logistics were a breeze and the cabin is very setup for hosting and random accommodations (kitchen materials, coffee, soap, etc.). Just felt very well done and we had a great time!

"Three Sisters" Annual Getaway

Three of us have a getaway every fall. This was a great place for us. It was peaceful and quiet. It was very comfortable for us to just hang out, relax, reconnect. The owners have thoughtfully provided dishes, pans, bowls, utensils and towels. Thank you for creating a nice place to gather!

We went for snowmobiling 3-4-3-6

It was a very comfortable and cozy place and the owners literally thought if everything you may need for in the house on the trip. The snomobiling was awesome trails are so well cared for out here- i bet in the summer its a great lake house for a vacation!! The lake was also fun to ice fosh on and snowmobile:) The hosts are awesome :)

Cute clean place right on a lake

My sister and infant had a lovely time at Kensington cabin and wished we could have stayed longer. The place was clean, well stocked, and had a beautiful view of the lake. It would be a lovely place to spend a summer getaway. I would certainly go back.
