Horrible Experience DO NOT RENT!
HORRIBLE experience. Terrible communication… hardly any except a call upon arrival telling us to pay more. Ruined our trip. We were visiting family in CR for the first time in 3 years. Our trip was a surprise for family so we could only plan so much. We knew our family of 5 would go on the trip so we made a reservation for 5 but the place was for 12 people. When we arrived some more family decided they wanted to come too. We set out for a 6 hour dive. We never received full check in instructions despite messaging days in advance. We plugged in the address on the app and its literally the wrong place, we got totally lost with no cell service… what a stressful mess. My family are native Costa Ricans and asked locals for help. When we finally got contact from the owner, we arrived and received a call from the owner stating that we had to pay an extra 600 for the extra adults with us (I think he was watching from a camera, we found various)! We couldn’t afford this. Our family had to leave. Some found a place to stay with a friend nearby and 2 had to start the 6 hour drive back home…heartbreaking. The owner told us if we didn’t pay and the family slept there that he would call the police and have us removed. I bawled my eyes out, was super embarrassed and my husband almost fainted from the stress. This was supposed to be a family trip of a lifetime but it was crushed by a stern man. The house was beautiful (dangerous lighting by pool drain, 2 falls) but horrible experience.
