Glendale river View is a traditional family holiday home situated above the Waiau river, 2 minutes walk from the Doubtful sound departure point. Awesome river, bush and mountain views. Gas water heating and bathroom with separate toilet. Quality comfortable beds and leather lounge suite. Stunning views down the river to the Takitimu mountains and across the river to the native bush and mountains of Fiordland National Park.
A sunny home, two minutes walk to Doubtful Sound Cruises and walking track departure points. Moments to Manapouri Lakefront and shops. This home provides it all.
Glendale is fully furnished with comfort in mind. Gas energy saver heating with additional electric heating available.
Glendale is a family friendly, self contained and independent house with a fully fenced large rhododendron filled garden. A circular driveway provides good access. Put the boat in the water, bring home the trailer and walk 2 minutes back to the boat.
This home comes complete with reading material, games, DVD's, freeview TV as well as a barbeque and outdoor furniture. The perfect family holiday home
From the balcony or the dining table enjoy the tranquillity of the many acres of native bush and bird life of this world heritage area.
Manapouri is a Southern Scenic Route town. The departure point for Doubtful Sound Cruises, also en route to Milford Sound. It has a population of 300, a store/cafe, petrol station, hotel and restaurant. 20kms scenic drive to Te Anau with a variety of shops, cafes, supermarkets, ATM etc.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent for taking a fjord cruise at the dock. It was well stocked and comfortable. We had a bit of trouble finding it, but after re-reading the instructions found it without trouble. The house has a ton of history and we enjoyed reading the scrapbook which details it. Note that there is a steep set of stairs from the upstairs bedroom to the bathroom but this was no trouble for us. Overall a great stay!

Beautiful Manapouri Stay

The property was as described very clean full of character and plenty of wine glasses. The beds are very comfortable and there is everything you need to cook a meal. The area is stunning. We were sorry we didn’t have longer to do more walks.

Relaxing Manapouri

We chose to stay out of Te Anau and were really pleased to find this fabulous property so close to the lake. The Church bar and restaurant is very friendly and good atmosphere. We decided to go on the Doubtful Sound trip with a 2minute walk to the RealNZ launch location which was so convenient. Manapouri is a lovely chilled out location and we would recommend staying here to explore the area.

Should be called the Doubtful Sound house

Stayed to make Doubtful Sound trip. As close as sleeping in parking lot but so much better- and a 3 minute walk to boat. House was very comfortable and met all our needs.

Quirky but cute

We really enjoyed our stay here but the layout is definitely different. It is not for people with mobility issues but otherwise it is great. The are multiple places inside and out to enjoy the view and it is pretty spectacular. We loved sitting in the sunroom and enjoying the view of the hills and the river. If you are doing a cruise from Manipouri dock, such as the Doubtful Sound tour you literally can not stay anyplace closer. It is a 3 minute walk to the pier. I will remember our stay for a long time.

A trip of a lifetime

Where to stay in this area was something I debated for a long time but this place was walking distance to doubtful sound departure point and an easy drive to Milford sound. The drive to the garden of the property makes it easy to come in to the property off view street and drive out. The house worked well for us. The stairs down to the toilet and shower room were steep but easily managed - even in the middle of the night. The apt had everything we needed and was clean on arrival. I would happily recommend to friends who might travel to NZ in the next year or two.

Warn guests about the staircase to get to the bathroom & toilet

The only bathroom is downstairs and the staircase is unsafe for certain ages. You should screen people’s ages as for elderly people at night, it is shocking to try and navigate those stairs to get to the toilet. Also sleeps 6 but only 3 wine glasses which was tacky.

Stunning location and views

Beautiful bush and river views. Great location with everything we needed and great communication with the owner. As the owners mentioned there are a steep set of steps up to the front door and downstairs to the bathroom/toilet which could be tricky for people who struggle with steps.

Excellent location

Great sport to stay. Warm and well furnished with everything we needed. Narrow, steep stairs to bathroom wouldn't be great for younger children or older adults but everything else is great!

Relaxing stay in Manapouri

This was a lovely relaxing place to stay. It was clean and tidy and the beds were very comfortable. The communication with the owner made it just perfect and the house had everything that you needed supplied and this added comfort to the stay. Good Tv and wifi too. Only a short walk to the cafe, shop, pub and petrol pumps. It was quiet and relaxing.

Warm and comfortable Manapouri

Best beds and sheets in a Book a Bach yet! Warm and comfy house, perfect before setting off for Doubtful Sound. Very steep steps both inside to the bathroom downstairs and outside as the entry to the house so don't book if that's a problem, but we found it perfect for our needs.

Holiday in Manapouri

We had a great time staying Glendale River view Manapouri , it was straight forward finding key and getting in, the house was exactly as described, it was clean and tidy, with comfortable beds, plenty of parking space, being located right beside a large car park we were concerned when we arrived that could be noisy with all the vehicles coming in and out of it, but it wasn't the case.

Beloved rustic home

This is an old family fishing home...rustic, clean, well supplied and the beds are fine. But...the bathroom is downstairs some rather precarious steps, the toilet is unheated(the sink and shower are in a separate heated room), and the hot water often went off in the midst of a shower or dishwashing....only to reappear a few minutes later. Two beds upstairs ( one behind a curtain) requiring a stairs negotiation during the night. The other bedroom is downstairs, and to go outside, one must open a garage door...or go upstairs and down again the outside steps. A bit funky for the price. Great location for Doubtful Sound trips.

Our water is heated by gas & we have instructions in our house manual explaining how to flick the switch over to the spare gas bottle if the water starts going cold. There should not be a problem with hot water if instructions are followed. I was also available by phone but did not receive a call or message from this guest or I could have sorted it immediately. We are building a permanent wall where the curtain is to close off the 2nd upstairs bedroom next month.
