Key Lime Cottage - 1930's 2 bed 2 bath beach cottage - Steps from the Sand

Step back in time with a stay in one of the first cottages built on the beach. Start your morning with a cup of coffee on your private deck watching the waves. Thomas Donuts across the street offers a variety of breakfast pastries and sandwiches, or take advantage of the equipped kitchen and cook your own.

When it's time to head to the beach, you're only a house and a street away from the sand. This section of public beach has no high-rises nearby so you can find your own space to enjoy the soft sand.

For a mid-day break from the sun, the large covered patio is a great place for a lunch without sand in your SANDwiches.

When you're done with the sand, we have an outdoor shower to rinse off and plenty of places to hang up your wet items to dry for the next day. There is also a washer & dryer to ensure you have clean suits and towels. We provide detergent and dryer sheets.

The sunset from the upper deck is a beautiful way to wrap up the day. There is also a table and chairs if you'd like to enjoy your dinner al fresco.

The cottage has two bedrooms, each with a new, comfortable queen bed. The master bedroom has an attached bathroom with stand-up shower. The second bathroom, also with a standup shower, is off the main living space.

We welcome your four-legged doggy family as well. We do ask that for the sake of guests after you, no dogs on the couch or beds please. An additional $150 pet fee will be charged after booking.

We have Electric Vehicle (EV) charging available to our guests with 40 amp service. It is provided at cost billed at checkout. Please let us know that you will need it so it can be activated for your stay.

Notes:

- There is an exterior video surveillance system in use as well as Amazon Alexa for your use for music and information.

Our stay at this beach house was absolutely charming. Even though it's a house with history, built in 1936, we were pleasantly surprised to find it offered all the modern comforts you'd expect from a contemporary beach home. The decor was beautiful, and everything felt incredibly comfortable, truly inviting relaxation. What we enjoyed most was the tranquility of the place and the gorgeous ocean view. While it's an ideal house for smaller groups (I'd say perfect for 4 people), every corner is well-utilized, and we never felt cramped. Plus, the location is excellent, with everything you need nearby, which made our stay even easier and more pleasant. As for minor improvements, we did notice some dusty surfaces and the showers could have been a bit cleaner upon our arrival. We also missed having a broom to keep the place tidy during our stay. Despite these small details, our overall experience was very positive. We would definitely recommend this house for anyone looking for a relaxing and comfortable beach getaway. In fact, we'd absolutely book here again every time we visit the beach, provided it's available! Rating: 4.9/5 stars

A good choice

We enjoyed our experience at Key Lime cottage. The owner, Pamela, was quick to respond to a cold related plumbing issue and in general promptly responded to any inquiry we had. At the last minute we had to extend our stay for a medical issue and were given a fair price for the few extra days.The ocean view was sensational and the donuts at Thomas's didn't suck.

Like going home

The area has been known to me since my youth. Everything about key lime cottage on Laguna beach speaks to me in a way that I love. This trip we had conversations with people familiar with the history of the area. The cottage itself feels like home. I appreciate its order, cleanliness, and all the modern technology. I find myself not wanting to tell too many people, because I never want to lose access due to increased popularity. Sorry, not sorry, for my selfishness. We enjoyed the NAS Blue Angels’ Homecoming Airshow, a return trip on the Sea Screamer, and a glorious beach day. I sure hope to return.

Mini Vacation

This was our third stay here. We love location. Deck upstairs has been redone & is a great place to relax. 2 bedrooms & baths worked perfectly for us. Having Thomas Donuts across street is a bonus. Owner super great to work with.

Quaint and amazing view!

This house was quaint but housed all of our needs and then some! Two bathrooms is vert nice, lots of beach toys and chairs in the mud room. What really makes this house is the deck and the incredible views that it allows! Don't miss going next door for biscuits and gravy, kolachees and donuts!

Best cottage ever!

We have been staying in this Laguna Beach neighborhood for years, and this is far and away the best property. It’s got a great view of the Gulf across Front Beach Road and it’s just across El Reposo from Thomas Donuts. I don’t like to cook when I’m on vacation, so we basically ate food from there the whole trip (tip: get breakfast early - there’s a crowd). We loved the cottage’s three outdoor eating spaces. My favorite was the surfboard table - it is so cute! Besides the donuts and the beach, what sealed the deal for us was the electric car charger. We are dedicated EV drivers and the parking spot with the charger was a huge plus - no more trekking to The Busy Bee for charging! The house was a perfect size for our family of three. It has a well-stocked kitchen, working appliances, good air conditioning and plumbing, and even the water pressure in the shower was great. Pamela was wonderful to work with! There was lots of information provided and great communication.

Nice

This is the second time we’ve stayed here. The location is our favorite part.. quick walk to the beach, literally right across from Thomas Doughnuts, and lovely balcony with view. This time the cleanliness was not up to par. The sheets in the bed were not made (the top quilt was made over a wrinkled wadded up sheet-looked slept in). We tried to unfold the pull out couch and it was disgusting (like it hadn’t been used or cleaned in years-we folded it back up). Some of the dishes weren’t clean. We have enjoyed our stay but will search elsewhere for our next visit.

Perfect beach vacation

Loved loved loved the Key Lime Cottage! The location can’t be beat; it was so nice to take just a few steps and be on the beach. Cottage was very clean, bed was comfy, and kitchen is well equipped. Having a donut/pizza shop next door and a grocery store within walking distance was a huge bonus. Neighborhood is pretty quiet and I felt safe traveling solo (well, with my chihuahua, who also enjoyed her stay and loved people watching from the rooftop deck!) I can’t wait to go back!!

Location, Location, Location

Wow, you cannot beat this location. Located in a neighborhood right off of front beach road and the beach is just a 5 minute walk from the door! We were able to bring our pups which was another plus, we walked them through the neighborhood at night and hung out on the porch during the day. The outdoor shower was perfect for getting sand and salt off of ourselves and what we took to the beach. They also had umbrellas and chairs for our use which was great! As far as the surrounding area, pier park is just a 8-10 minute drive down the road and has all the shopping and food you can imagine, or hop on the highway and drive a little further to find more fun. Overall a great option for the price, we will consider staying again in the future

Family Vacation

This property was very cute great for our family vacation. Excellent location right across the street from the beach, unbelievable views of the ocean and Thomas Donuts right next door. I would recommend this property to all my family and friends. We will definitely be going back.

Great Place

We had a blast at Keylime. The description was spot on and we will definitely stay again. Yes, the house is small but is perfect for a small family. We had 5 total people. My in laws stayed in the spare room and me, my wife and teenage daughter (twin air mattress) stayed in the master. It was cramped but for all the other benefits it was worth it. There is a sleeper sofa but that is the only common area so we didn't use it. The location is amazing. You can see the ocean from the deck and can people watch all day and night as people come and go at Thomas Pizza and Donuts. Speaking of Thomas, hopefully you aren't on a diet because they are right across the street and amazing. We had donuts almost every morning (highly recommend the keylime and the maple glaze) and had pizza one night. Also amazing. Walk to beach is very short and the beach isn't very crowded since there are no large condos around. We had a great time and will definitely be back.

Wonderful time in Key Lime Cottage

My family and I had a great time in cozy Key Lime Cottage. We loved the location. An easy walk to the beach, and we really loved the easy access to the Donut Shop. It was a tight fit for four adults, but we made it work. Looking forward to returning.

Loved it!

The Key Lime Cottage was perfect for our needs. Very clean and cozy with all the amenities that we needed. It's about 8 steps to the sandy beach! I like that it's away from the crowds but about 8 min from the mall and Pier Park. I We would definitely stay here again.

Great location!!!

This cottage is in the perfect location to load up and walk across the street to the beach. Evenings are great sitting on the top deck people watching. The Carousel and Thomas Donuts are so convenient to this cottage. I highly recommend it! Very clean and well stocked. Comfy beds too!

My husband and I love to spend time outdoors, sometimes that's on land camping and hiking, other times it's underwater scuba diving. We live near New Orleans with our two kids and our puppers, a pittie mix named Quinn. While the food at home can't be beat, the water around here is a bit too murky for diving and the shores too muddy. So we escape whenever we can to enjoy the Gulf views.

We found this cottage when looking for a quiet Thanksgiving retreat. The location was amazing - no high rises around, neighborhood atmosphere, cute historic cottage and that view from the deck! Once we arrived, we saw it was for sale and immediately the wheels started turning. I'm a lover of old houses and one of my hobbies is DIY renovations. All I could think of was giving this home the love it needed while enjoying all the location had to offer. By the time we left that weekend, we were certain we would be back.
