A beautiful and spacious property with lovely, kind hosts. The upstairs has a peacefulness with its clean and new natural wood and gorgeous view. Stained glass crafted by the owner adds beauty. The hiking trails are perfect for anyone seeking pure tranquility in nature.

We had a wonderful 3 weeks at the property. Ray was an amazing host and provided lots of guidance and recommendations on local things to do. It was a much appreciated break from the summer heat in Florida!

WOW! That is all I can say. This is the most beautiful place, and it was so perfect and peaceful. We are filled with gratitude for our hosts, Ray and Jo. We were greeted with a cold bottle of wine and a super sweet note. Ray gave us some amazing advice for navigating Maine and Acadia. We took his advice on two meals, and it was perfect! Two Cats for breakfast and the Pickled Wrinkle for lunch one day were the way to go. We felt so thankful to have Ray as our “go-to” for advice and all of our needs. What a blessing! Beautiful place to stay!

We kept our vacation plans despite the recent death of my wife, mother of our daughter. The stay was peaceful, private, and just perfect for me and my daughter. We visited Mom's favorite Maine sites throughout Pidgeon Hill, Schoodic, Acadia, Little Deer Isl, etc. Ray couldn't have been more kind and generous on our behalf. We will definitely visit again...

Waterfront Downeast Retreat

The owners, Ray and Jo, are some of the nicest folks you can meet. We really enjoyed our stay at their cottage. The cottage is beautiful and the location is amazing. We are grateful for the time we got to spend there.

Perfect honeymoon getaway

This cottage was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon! It was clean, well stocked, and in a fantastic location. We loved the fall foliage, the nearby trails, and the proximity to the harbor. Ray was the ideal host with recommendations of places to go and restaurants to visit. We hope to come back in the future for an anniversary trip!

a pet friendly home near the waterfront. house was super clean. waterviews were great. nice area to walk dogs. hiking trails nearby. we had a restful time away.the best part was the hummingbirds feeding in the back garden area. very cool! thank you for a great stay!

Among nature

We enjoyed our stay in Steuben. Ray was an excellent host and the house had everything we needed. The area is quiet and peaceful, giving us the opportunity to enjoy the sounds of the ocean and of an adjacent brook.

Beautiful spot

The cottage was super comfortable and very nicely designed (the pictures really don't capture how great it is). Great location and super hikes close by and afar. Ray was nice and fun to talk with. We loved the fact that we could bring our dog.

The property and its location are fabulous. Our host Ray, was extremely helpful and went out of his way to make sure we had a great experience. He is a long time “Mainer” and a wealth of information. The location of this property is right on the water and walking distance to a terrific nature preserve. If peace and quiet, and nature are your thing, this is your place!

Our favorite

The Downeast retreat is our favorite. I think this was our 6th visit. Ray and Jo are the best. It's perfect for our family.

Nature Lover's Delight

Peaceful, organic feel of lovely home overlooking Pigeon Hill Bay. Well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, and fantastic setting. We were able to walk to great hiking locations, stroll by the bay, and watch sunrises. Highly recommended!!

Loved our stay and would love to return

Everything was just right. The home was comfortable and clean and in a beautiful part of Maine. We had a terrific time. The kitchen had everything we needed and we did a bunch of cooking. The porch was lovely for reading and looking out at the water. Plus, the hosts gave us all kinds of good ideas of places to see.
