This charming house is located in the heart of the amazing village of Saint-Sauveur-en-Puisaye in Burgundy, impressive for its dynamism, cultural scene and lively atmosphere. We have refurbished it to preserve the old personality of the house in a bohemian and artistic style, echoing the creative spirit of the village, where the writer Colette was born and raised.
The 120 square metre house consists of two floors and a natural back garden with flowers and trees, where it is pleasant to lounge on long summer days. On the ground floor there is a large entrance hall, a 30 square metre living room and kitchen, a bedroom with a double bed and a toilet. On the first floor, a large living room (with a double bed), a study with a small bed, a bedroom (with a double bed) and a bathroom.
The house is ideal for a maximum of four adults and two or three children. There are cosy corners in the house, ideal for reading, dreaming or chatting.
The village is particularly lively thanks to its many shops, including a popular weekly market, three restaurants, three cafés, a British tea room, two bakeries, two second-hand shops, a wine shop, the château which houses a museum dedicated to Colette and her perfectly restored childhood home, matrix of her work.
Numerous cultural events of all kinds punctuate the summer season, including concerts, gourmet evenings, screenings of art films, flea markets, art galleries, garage sales, readings and screenings at the Colette house, etc.
The village is also home to La Poèterie, an industrial factory converted into an artists' village. In the summer, you can dance, attend concerts and shows, while munching on hot dogs.
Saint-Sauveur is nestled in the middle of nature, in a particularly unspoilt countryside of lakes, forests and meadows, making it a real biodiversity paradise.
Don't miss the spectacular visit to the castle of Guedelon (5 km away), where some 40 enthusiasts are taking on an extraordinary challenge: building a castle using the techniques and materials of the Middle Ages.
A few kilometres from Saint-Sauveur-en Puisaye, discover the magnificent Lac du Bourdon, surrounded by a wild and preserved nature. You can swim there and practice rowing, sailing, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and pedal boats. Canoeing will also allow you to discover the protected fauna and flora in complete discretion.
