Great location

We had a relaxing stay here after touring the Yucatán. Accommodation provided everything we needed. Daily maid service was wonderful. Would happily recommend to friends and family.

Amazing stay

Pictures were completely in-line with the beauty of the property and location. We had an amazing time. Condo was quiet and well-maintained. Location was great, easy access to beach and snorkeling. Would definitely recommend for families.

Lovely setting in Akumal

Akumal is a special town that I have visited for over 25 years. This was my first time staying at LaSerina. Such a lovely location. The courtyard gardens are full of beautiful tropical plants, and is beautifully maintained. There is a large lovely pool in the center of this courtyard. The condo was decorated in traditional Mexican decor with lots of nice personal touches. The staff were amazing. Would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and calming

This was our third visit to akumal and it’s lovely. Your place is beautiful and easy access to first class snorkeling! Great food all around. Thanks!

Best place I've stayed at in the Mayan Riviera

I have visited the Mayan riviera consistently over the last 10 or so years and have stayed in many different homes / hotels throughout this period, I can gladly say that this is the place I will definitely go back to. In short, the condo has everything you need, its very clean, its 40 steps from the water, the people attending to the property are very nice and has a lot of different restaurants / bars you can visit within a walking distance. I highly recommend!!!

LauritaMar Stay

We just spent 7 days at LauritaMar condo in Akumal. Everything about our stay there was great! We were on the lower level beachfront with great views of Half Moon Bay. Mornings and evenings on the outer patio were refreshing ways to start and finish our days. The property is very well kept with daily maid service. We plan on being back next year and would recommend LauritaMar to anyone thinking of vacationing in Akumal!

Perfect getaway

We spent 2 wonderful weeks in Paul and Mona's condo. Everything was perfect. We snorkeled quite often in Half Moon bay. The weather could not have been nicer and the low humidity was a bonus. The bed was very comfy and the bed linens were of high quality. Th welcome basket sent from the owners was such a nice touch and very tasty. Loved waking up to a beautiful ocean view.

Awesome Akumal condo

Thank you Paul and Mona for another lovely Akumal experience. This beach front condo provided the perfect haven for laying on the beach, swimming in the pool, visits to Tulum and snorkeling in Cenotes. We liked being on the first floor and having the beach right outside our back Dope. And being within walking distance to restaurants was a plus. We are already planning a return trip for next year. Thank you!

Right on the beach!

This is our fifth stay at La Serena Condominiums and our second with this specific unit. It is a beautiful unit with all of the comforts of home. We greatly appreciated the welcome basket and the caretaker and housekeepers are very accommodating. The view is beautiful and we enjoy sitting out on the veranda and watching the waves. We enjoy the ability to walk right out onto the beach. We like to sleep with the windows up and catch the ocean breeze as well as hear the ocean. This is our preferred place to stay in Mexico and will definitely be coming back.

Completely adorable

When the listing says it is steps from the water, it really means it steps from the water. There is fair snorkeling when the water is not too rough. We saw flounder, octopus, and rays. Of course, the lagoon is a two minute walk. The apartment was cuter in person than it was online. It’s basically several cottages and an apartment building clustered around a pool. There was a place for a rental car, and pretty decent Costco and pier one imports stocked kitchen implements. We will definitely keep this place in mind for a repeat trip.

Clean, quiet, comfortable and close to fun

Our family of 4 had a great time here. It was nice and quiet. The maid service was great and the house was always clean. Paul was prompt with responses to our queries and directions and instructions for access were clear. The property management company was very close by and always staffed. They even helped us get cheap tickets to XCaret. There are many restaurants close by with great food. There is also a lagoon within walking distance which we really wanted to go to but ran out of time. We also went snorkeling at Akumal bay which was a lot of fun. The views from this place are amazing and we usually slept with the windows wide open with the sea breeze going and sounds of waves. When we were away, there were safes and locks for our valuables so we always felt secure in that front. I would recommend this place highly.

Great Condo- Excellent Location!

We had a great time staying at La Sirena #2 on Half Moon Bay the first week of April 2017. The condo had everything we needed and the view was spectacular! The kitchen is fully stocked, the bedrooms are rather large and the living room and screened porch have the most amazing views! The welcome basket of pastries and coffee was a nice surprise to get us started Sunday morning- Thank you Paul and Mona!! We ate at many local restaurants, but our favorites were Taverna (at the arch) and La Buena Vida (right on the beach) both in Akumal. My family, including a 14 yr old boy & a 10 yr old boy loved snorkeling right in front of the condo...we saw rays, eels, turtles and many colorful fish. We also loved the large pool, which most evenings we had all to ourselves. We rented a car for the week and visited Tulum ruins, Grand Cenote, Xel-Ha, Chichen Itza, IL Kil Cenote, Jardin El Eden Cenote and had a great time! La Sirena is a great place to stay and you are so close to many attractions. Thank you for a great vacation!!!

Crashing waves... were the best!

The accommodations were great - good size for four adults. Very comfortable. Screened in porch with view of Akumal Bay a wonderful place to enjoy your morning coffee or late night glass of wine. Kitchen well stocked with dishes, pots, etc. Bedrooms comfortable. Housekeeping service a lovely bonus which included fresh towels, etc. Wonderful lounging space right out the door - grass or sand area with palapas - very quiet. Speed bumps are killers driving into Akumal - but worth it being at the end of the bay. Snorkeling on Half Moon Bay was great fun...but bring watershoes - the coral is a tad rough! Great restaurants near by - thoroughly enjoyed La Buena Vida and La Lunita - outdoors... sand under your feet once you slip your shoes off. Easy drive to Tulum, Coba, Playa del Carmen... All in all a wonderful family vacation. Thank-you Paul and Mona!

great place to stay, Check in was a bit of a problem as i did not get a crucial email telling me the lock box key code. I arrived late and was just lucky to have someone who lived there helped me. Was not aware i needed a lock box key as normally I did not arrive late and always someone was there. Other then this the place is great and ocean front. my kids said the king side bed not in masters was hard. maybe consider a mattress topper. Franchesca was amazing. she looks after your needs and trouble shoots the building. ocean is right out side your patio door. Nice site and pool and grounds. i will stay again.

Lynn, I'm sorry about the issue with checking in. The Planning Guide with maps and Access Instructions I have automatically to be sent 14 days before you arrive. In all my time of doing this, I've never had an issue, and I still have not been able to figure it out. I am glad, though that you had a great time, and I've already told the owner of a need for a topper. We do love our fabulous bay view.

Loved it!

After a very long two days of travel coming from the mountains in Southwest Colorado, we were so please to walk in to this beautiful condo. It was exactly what my family was looking for. We have two children (8 and 13) and they loved it. At the north end of Half Moon Bay, the location is very quiet. We were one of two families during this time of year and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. I was concerned about the rock wall (opposed to having a beach that flowed right in to the water) but the snorkeling at the end of the walk way was great. Water in the bay was pretty rough. Kids really enjoyed Yal Ku which was right around the corner. I would recommend renting bikes as the property is pretty far from everything. We loved having a pool too. Alfredo was so helpful and the owners were really nice and easy to work with. We can't wait to go back. Hopefully for two weeks next time.

Fantastic property - couldn't have wished for more

Traveled late July/early August with my nephews. I really wanted to stay at this complex but was having a difficult time booking due to most units not having their VRBO or Homeaway calendars up to date. I don't know how I missed this one in my search, but having just about given up, I found this unit owned by Paul and Mona (and rented directly through them). I couldn't have asked for a better unit. We had absolutely everything we needed for our stay; the kitchen was fully stocked, there was snorkeling gear for the bay, a clothesline in the screened in patio and the unit is comfortably furnished. Even the beds were comfortable, and that is a rarity in Mexico where the mattresses tend to be hard. We used the air conditioning sparingly as requested, but when we absolutely needed it, it cooled everything down in record time. Paul and Mona provide a welcome basked of baked goods and coffee from Turtle Bay which were enjoyed immensely by my nephews over the week. The walk to town is a little over a mile each way, I think; if the heat bothers you, you can rent a golf cart or bikes. All in all, this is a terrific place to stay.

Amazing Holiday

The pictures are not lying! We spent a week in this spacious, lovingly decorated and well equipped apartment, with a perfect view over the bay. How amazing to enjoy your morning coffee at sunrise with such a view! Located at the north end of the bay, it is very calm and there were also not very much people in the residence. A perfect base camp for day trip exploration of Yucatan with a rental car. The booking over Akumal Escapes was well organized and we received very practical driving instructions and other useful information short before the start of our vacation. Two things worth knowing: 1) The bay is very shallow - you're touching ground almost everywhere. Good visibility and nice fish, but personally I would have preferred and expected a bit deeper water. 2) Payment terms are 50% at the booking and 50% some weeks before the start of the stay plus a deposit just before the stay. I was surprised that I had to provide my card details each time and not just once. This made my scam-alert bells ring, but eventually that fear turned out to be unjustified and as stated above, overall, the booking was well organized. Maybe it would have been different if I had used a credit (instead of debit) card. Overall though, despite 1) and 2) a very clear 5 out of 5 ⭐. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Condo lovely, Akumal itself not for us

No problems with the condo itself. It was really clean and the housekeeping service was fantastic. Great water delivery whenever needed. Great air conditioning which cools the condo quickly – we rarely needed it as open windows allowed for a nice breeze. Comfortable beds. Lovely gardens and good ground maintenance. Easy parking. Only condo issue for us was the really low water pressure in the ensuite. We managed by sharing the other shower, which has great pressure. Location pros include: proximity to the lagoon; and easy snorkelling right out front. It is ~25 minute walk to the arches (restaurants, "corner" stores, etc.). We were glad to have a car to explore the pueblo and surrounding area, and to drive to a proper grocery store (in Puerto Adventuras or Tulum). Location cons were that while the condo complex itself is very quiet, it is definitely not a quiet area due entirely to the neighbouring property Villa Bellamar. According to the property management company, Bellamar is rented as a party house – weddings, group vacations, etc. We had five nights out of fourteen with very little sleep – loud music, shouting, etc until the wee hours and then again all during the day. As for the larger Akumal “Community”, you will like it if you need to feel secure as there is a gate through which you pass from Akumal Bay to Half Moon Bay (North Akumal) and it is very much a mostly US/Cdn tourist community. That said, Bellamar had a large robbery while we were there – a fitness group was in residence and large sums of money, 15+ computers, laptops, etc. were stolen.

Beautiful setting, better than pictured

We had a fantastic stay at La Sirena. The house was spotless when we arrived and the property is impeccably maintained. Alfredo greeted us and was so helpful and very sweet. The maid service was great as well. We were well taken care of. Our beds were made each day, trash was taken out, water filled up but the service wasn't at all intrusive. The view from the living room and master is gorgeous. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the master is open to the living room (and beachfront views) but can closed with shutters. Plenty private for us and the master was pretty baby friendly for our 1 year old to hang out. The kitchen was well stocked and we made good use of the Foreman Grill. The screened in patio was also a nice feature but there was usually enough of a breeze off of the bay to keep the bugs away. The outdoor spaces were lush and tropical and the beach was always raked and perfect. There was quite a bit of seaweed that was covering the beaches from Playa Del Carmed to Tulum but the oceanfront was very clear in front of the house. We did some snorkeling out front and saw quite a few fish and there are still some healthy coral heads out there. The location is really close to Yal Ku. We didn't make it this trip but I hear it's great. There are quite a few good restaurants in the way to the condo. Our favorite was La Buena Vida. It's an easy bike, drive or walk from the house and has a great setting and good food. I should mention that you do have to be careful about leaving food out or you're going to have ants. I grew up in the tropics so this wasn't a surprise. No matter how clean the place, "if you leave it, they will come"... My dad's saying!

A clean, quiet and safe condo within steps of the ocean

We had a wonderful stay! The views are incredible. The area was quite and we felt safe. Each evening a security person was stationed in the area and the pleasant groundskeeper and cleaning staff were close by during the day. The facility next door did have a party the last 2 nights, but it seemed to be a large family event. Their voices do carry over but we closed the windows and turned on the air conditioning and never noticed them again. We would definitely go back. Paul was very responsive! Loved the snorkeling and watching for rays and birds. There was even a turtle sighting! Perfect location! Eat at The Turtle Bay Cafe! Excellent!

Cute and private

This is a very spacious and comfortable condo. Very clean and comes with a very friendly maintenance and cleaning crew. The location was private and easy to walk to a cenote and wonderful restaurants with beach views. I was disappointed on seeing an extremely rocky beach front. Wearing water shoes were a must and snorkeling was fun. I had others with me that reviewed the listing and they thought it had a walk out to a sandy beach with the rocky area way off.

Amazing week in Akumal

I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to spend his vacation right next to the beach in a clean, beautiful and quiet place. Great location. Safe place. Very good restaurants.
