This group of guests had constant issue with everything in the house. We provided the same written instruction for every guest we have had, including Todd. But never have we had to help a guest navigate constantly throughout the visit. The guests first called and ask how to open a simple plastic cover for the EV outlet and how to close the garage door. I replied their text and called them immediately to help them navigate and did not dismiss their need. Then they called and asked why the GFCI outlet got tripped after using a high power hair dryer they brought with. When I forwarded the instruction on how to reset GFCI outlet, the guest replied that "we are not electricians.” Later, they called and claimed there is no water at the bathtub in the master bathroom. They asked me if the water is frozen while it’s the middle of summer with 90F outside. When talking to them on the phone, I realized that the guests have been trying to pull and push on the shower handle instead of rotating the handle. I told the guests they should rotate the shower handle counterclockwise to turn on water and they said it's very tight and they cannot turn the handle. They demanded to have someone over to resolve the matter. At that point, I also realized that I needed to send my onsite property manager to assist in various issues and navigation. When my property manager arrives, he said the shower handle is already broken and there was already WATER in the bathtub. The previous guest and our cleaning crew did not report any issue with the shower handle. My property manager explained how to safely use electronics, reset GFCI outlet when needed, and showed them how to open the EV outlet cover. After my property management left, the guest demanded a "compensation" for all the troubles. I refunded one night stay of $270 showing a good will. There is another functioning shower in the condo. Despite that, I found a plumber last minute to fix the shower handle over the weekend. In total, this guests costs me $600 of damages and property management fee. After they left, I found that they used my personal grill in my garage without asking. At no point during their visit was I dismissive of their needs and concerns. In fact, I addressed their concerns immediately, costing me more time and money than anyone I have hosted in the past 3 years as a host.
