Our parking lot is actually scheduled to be repaved in September, so that improvement is already underway. Regarding the sign about reviews, we understand your perspective. Unfortunately, we believe both Airbnb and VRBO’s rating systems can be somewhat misleading. Most people naturally associate five stars with a luxury property, which we certainly do not claim to be. However, vacation-rental platforms hold hosts to a very different standard, and ratings below five stars can significantly affect a listing. The sign is intended to explain how those ratings are interpreted within the vacation-rental system, not to pressure anyone into leaving a rating they don’t feel is deserved. The same issue exists on the guest side. Hosts are also encouraged to give five-star ratings to guests unless there were significant problems. In practice, the rating system tends to function more as an indication of whether a host would welcome a guest back or whether a guest would recommend or stay at a property again, rather than the traditional hotel-style definition of five-star luxury.
