Thanksgiving Vacation House

What a delight to open the kitchen curtains and seeing the beautiful lake! Peaceful, refreshing, perfect way to start the holiday or any memory moment! This was our second stay at the house and it was better than the first! We hiked locally and enjoyed the events throughout the town.

Beautiful Location

The house is in a beautiful location and is setup wonderfully to joyfully cook a big meal with a group of people. The house is comfortable and inviting, if a bit worn down (chipping paint, rust, and some dusty shelves). The beds are comfortable as are the sitting and living rooms. The jetted bathtub in the pictures was out of order and there are instructions not to use the wood stoves. The hosts have very distinct instructions and their personality was clearly showcased.

Great time just not what we thought

Lovely space, huge place for the price, amazing communication with the host!!! Above and beyond assistance with our host. The one issue is that from the listing we thought this was a lake front house with swimming access but the pond/lake is pretty mucky and no clear dock swimming here. As our primary goal was lake time this listing wasn’t a great fit.

Great accomodations, serene location

The weather was less than ideal, but our family enjoyed the very spacious kitchen, playing music, doing puzzles, and, when weather permitted, kayaking and fishing on the beautiful pond. It seemed like we were the only ones on the pond most of the time. Secluded and quiet location. On morning walks w/ the dog, we saw deer, a fox, and other wildlife. It was a bit longer drive than we were used to for groceries, etc, but was well worth it for the peaceful relaxation that it afforded! We had a lovely time!

Just missed the mark

The overall accommodations were fine. We enjoyed our stay. the house however was a bit dated, not enough lighting. the condition of the BBQ grille was appalling, which took us a great deal of time to clean. The Kayaks also needed to be hose down.

We booked for UConn graduation weekend, our daughter’s friend and her parents stayed with us. Lovely peaceful location, beautiful lake, spring flowers, gorgeous! House was as listed, everything perfect for us! Made for an excellent weekend! We wished we were here for a week longer :)

Beautiful property!

Only a short stay for a local family wedding, but the house was perfect for our group of 7. Very comfortable, kitchen is huge and great for gathering around with some snacks and a few beverages while looking out on the stunning view down the hill to the pond. Would love to come back and spend more time exploring the area.

A wonderful location!

We made this booking last minute when another property had last minute issues, and the owner was immediately responsive and welcoming. Our family gathering included a puppy (who was also welcome here) and we all enjoyed the spacious home, acreage and lake views.

secluded, lovely home

Celebrated our 28th Annual Girls Getaway in this lovely home. We loved the secluded wooded area. Caught a few fish and a snapping turtle! Due to rainy weather, we spent the majority of our time in the large and spacious kitchen/dining area, which was perfect for cooking, drinking and playing cards. The beds were very comfortable with nice bedding. The kitchen was well stocked with all essentials and the bathrooms had thick towels. Basically, we had everything we needed for our very enjoyable stay. Would recommend to anyone looking for a large home in a quiet area. Thank you, Heather, for opening up your home to us.

Nice Property

The house was a great set up for 8 of us, especially the beautiful open kitchen and dining area. It would have been nice if we could’ve had fire as the weather had gotten cooler. Also, while we were cooking the grill was pretty dirty so we had a lot of flare ups and we ran out of gas while cooking. The host was very responsive and dropped a new one.

Dreamy setting

We arrived with adult children and their friends. The common space was absolutely perfect for a large group. Peaceful, beautiful, kayaking, flyfishing...just dreamy. This host was accommodating, easy and quick to communicate with, and made everything easy. If you are looking for a peaceful place with plenty of room and activities available...this is it!

Great Spot

The hosts were great with communication and accommodating. Check in was easy. The house itself was beautiful and spacious. Loved using the kayaks they have available too. Great for a weekend getaway with friends

It's private, spacious, and everyone says it has a really good energy and feel to the place. I agree. You will love all the things in nature our home has to offer!

Please note**
We have well water and not city water. This water is hard. We do have a water softening system and it has been tested and is safe to drink and shower in. The toilets and tub have been stained - we have tried (and are continuing to try) products that will remove the stains. If you want to bring your own drinking water you can, but the water is safe to drink.
