This turn of the century, 4th generation family home is nestled in the mountains of Montreat. The soothing sounds of mountain streams, grand mountain views, mountain trails, absolutely spectacular scenic overlooks, picturesque lakes all await you for your week of relaxation or adventure. Come see what all the talk about the North Carolina mountains is all about.

The square features of this 1900's family cottage are wrapped by an extensive front porch. In keeping with many homes of that time, the porch was meant to cool the interior during the warm summer months. Today it also serves as a refuge during an afternoon rain. Most people are introduced to this grand 7 bedroom, 2 bath house as they pull up the driveway. Many families have used the Pratt House as a refuge and a wonderful place to create memories. We invite you to create your own.

Quiet Hours: Montreat is a quiet and quaint town. As such, our neighbors like to enjoy as little noise as possible. Quiet hours are from 9pm-8am.

Fire Hazards: No candle usage inside the home. Citronella candles on the porch are approved. The fireplace is NOT operable.

Great Week!

Pratt Cottage works great for our group. Love the location, bedrooms, dining table, front porch, and yard. Hope to stay here again next year.

The Best of Classic Montreat

We never wanted to leave this charming Montreat house. From the expansive front porch, to the cool and plentiful bedrooms, this house is our new favorite Montreat place!

Great porch

This house was comfortable for our needs. Some of the particularities (such as a small kitchen) come with the territory of being in a house that is this old. But it was well supplied for our group, clean, and the wrap around porch with the multiple ceiling fans, table, swing, chairs, couches, was the best! Excellent communication with the host. We hope to return to this house in 2026.

Great retreat in the mountains!

We LOVED this property! Our Youth Group stayed here for a Montreat Youth Conference. The big porch was great for adult early morning coffee and late night teen hang outs. Long tables for eating in the dining room and on the porch. It was walkable to all things Montreat (and mostly not uphill!). The beds were very comfortable. Plenty of towels and extra blankets. Though there wasn't central air, there were a few window units and plenty of fans for each room; we never got too hot, even in July. Communication with host beforehand was helpful. Easy checkin/checkout process. Overall, highly recommend and would stay here again!

Built in 1919 for a widow from South Carolina, this house was meant to be large enough to handle a good-sized family. When Charles and Pattie Ward Pratt found it several years later they were convinced it would be the right place to bring up their family.

Conversations linger on the front porch well into the night. Children sleeping on the porch overhead are easily monitored by their parents below. Daily rearrangements of chairs and rockers allow guests and family to join for conversations and catching up.

The Pratt house is a family run rental and we use it throughout the year as well. We have many years of experience with rentals and we look forward to you creating your own memories in our lovely home.
