Welcome! Whether it’s hibernation or adventure you will enjoy your stay at the Bear Den Cottage. The beautifully decorated cottage will be your home away from it all while being surrounded by wildlife and still conveniently located near Lake Wallenpaupack, breweries, restaurants and hiking trails. Enjoy the easy access; convenient location and entire private property during your stay. Come see why guests keep coming back!

The cottage is located on a private dirt/stone road it’s recommended not to arrive in lower from factory vehicles.

The cottage is located on a private dirt/stone road please bring a SUV as the roadway conditions change.

During your stay you will enjoy the entire well-appointed private cottage with contactless self check-in.

* Winter* During snow conditions I have the road plowed to access the property. Anticipate snow during your stay and that four wheel drive will be necessary to access the cottage along with snow conditions at the property. Shovels are provided if needed. Expect snow and icy conditions.

The cottage is a wonderful retreat! It is exactly as written - peacefulVery clean and cozy. We found everything we needed. The host provided a detailed list of places to see, shopping, restaurants etc. We enjoyed being here very much. Thank You so much.

The cottage was delightful, very clean except for outside but then it is in the woods . Stocked with small necessities which was very much appreciated. The only negative thing was the road in which was severely rutted and with lots of potholes and rocks. Couldn’t go over much more than 5 miles an hour. Host was very responsive and provided detailed rules and instructions and offered places to go and places to eat. Host is top notch!

To say I was happy would be a understatement. Extremely clean, Stock with many extras. Plenty of firewood for fire pit, plenty of charcoal for grill. kitchen well stocked. Items we forgot were there to our surprise. The road coming in may be a little rocky, but it will not disappoint if you choose to stay there. The host Steve responded to all my questions quickly. 5 Stars across the board.

We had a relaxing two night stay at this cabin. It’s nestled in the woods and was very welcoming. It was super clean and had everything that we needed. The extra bonus of deer made our trip even more enjoyable. We would love to stay at this property again.

Very clean! Very quiet and relaxing stay

I come to this area once a year to go fishing, and this cabin was very nice for our stay. Owner was very responsive in communication to any questions.

The Bear Den Cottage was exceptional! Our family did a mini vacation to visit the Big Boy 4014 Steam Train for the 250th Anniversary of America. We were looking for a quiet, cozy place to stay during our visit to Scranton Pa and found the Bear Den Cottage.Steve the owner was exceptional to work with, his communication back and forth with us was top notch! The cottage had everything we needed but most importantly was clean, cozy and felt like home away from home.We were sad that we could not have stayed longer but were very blessed to have the time that we did there. Thank you for everything and for making our trip extra special with such a beautiful place to stay.We highly recommend staying at the Bear Den Cottage if you are ever in the area, you will not regret it!The Wilson Family

To be honest, the unpaved road where the cottage was located was very rutted so you have to drive very slowly. Fortunately, the road is only about a half mile long. The cottage itself was cute and nicely decorated with comfortable seating and a large screen T.V. in the living room. The cottage was very clean and sheets and 2 bath towels per guest were provided. The kitchen was adequate although missing a toaster oven, and I suggested to the host that he purchase one for the cottage. The neighborhood was very quiet and woodsy. We enjoyed an afternoon just sitting on the front lawn in the sun reading our books. The host is very accessible and responded immediately to questions I had. We enjoyed our time in nearby Hawley sitting on the beach at Lake Wallenpaupuck, eating out for lunch and dinner and visiting several antique & thrift shops in Hawley and Honesdale.

Wonderful stay!

We had a great weekend in Tafton at the cottage :) Not too far for groceries etc. and Promised Land State Park is just 15 minutes away. We’ll definitely be back!

Great cabin for quiet getaway! Had everything we needed and more. Location was perfect for the lake and local breweries. Saw deer at the cabin every day. I definitely recommend this cozy and comfy cabin and will stay here again!

The cottage was the perfect place for us, who were in the Poconos for a wedding. It was very clean, cozy and you can tell a lot of thought was put into making a great experience for their guests. We were greeted with sweet treats which was a pleasant surprise! I would definitely recommend staying here.

I started enjoying the outdoors through tent camping and overlanding. Over the years I upsized to a camper and was introduced to the Lake Wallenpaupack area by wonderful friends who are now our extended lake family.
