Calling all outdoorsy types, history buffs, train enthusiasts, and Penn Staters - Ganister House is perfect for you! Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly historic home. Originally the site of a log cabin in the 1790s, the home now boasts 3 en-suite bedrooms and a multitude of gathering spaces, including large fenced-in yard with firepit. Easily access historic canal and railroad sites, miles of river and hiking trails, state game lands, and even get to a PSU game in 45 minutes!

We love having access to the rail trail. Fenced yard makes traveling with dog easy. This was our 2nd stay and plan to return next year while my daughter attends Cave Camp at Lincoln Caverns.

We love staying here. It's a great mix of historic charm and modern updates. My family is from this tiny village of Ganister and it's great to see how well this house has been cared for. We plan to stay again.

Lovely house! Great for many people. We were 3 households: 4 adults and 3 kids. Ages ranging from 74 to 8 years old. The rail trail right in front of the house was great for the person preparing for a marathon and for the 74 year old to go for a brisk walk. The kids enjoyed fishing in the river and playing hide and seek for ages in the house itself. The kitchen is well appointed we had everything we needed. Several dining options for sit down family meals together. We did not sit outside because of the amount of rain and bugs. But that's a PA summer. Great house. Highly recommend.

Very pretty and unique house. Very family friendly, with lots of fun things to do. Host was great and the house was very clean. We went to the PSU game, and look forward to staying here again and exploring more local activities.

We absolutely loved this property! Plenty of room for our family, including our two labs, and centrally located to the events that brought us to the area. We would absolutely recommend this property!

Amazing Stay - Relaxing Vacation

Host communication excellent. Cute house very close to the trail. Close to town, yet quite. Dreamingly comfortable beds - easy to get rest. House has everything you need. Fire pit was thoroughly utilized for smores, mountain pies, hot dogs, and good conversation.

Wonderful!

Clean, spacious, beautiful! Perfect location for our family get-together…walking and hiking out the front door; Happy Valley and PSU a fairly short and very pretty drive on 45. We had an excellent family stay!

As it should be!

Outstanding from booking through the stay and departure. Wonderful place, great host, easy to contact, quick to respond. Beautiful House, well maintained, they thought of everything from tissues to coasters to wood for the fire pit. Great furnishings, comfortable, welcoming, and relaxing.

Historic and beautiful

What a fabulous historic home in a lovely location. We enjoyed walking the trail, sitting by the fire pit, playing the games and building puzzles. The local canoe creek state park is fabulous and worth a visit. We will be back!

Great Historic Getaway

Loved the house and the location. Close enough to shopping, dining, etc., but far enough away to be secluded. Appreciate that our dogs were able to travel with us and have a secure yard to play in. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to stay in the area. Very responsive host as well.

Vacation

The home is beautiful and in a great location. I really liked having the walking trails so close and my daughter loved going down to the river each evening to play in the river. I hope that we will be able to go back again.

The most beautiful historic house

This house is just the best in every way. We will definitely return. We enjoyed biking on the path which is right out front and taking walks to the blue hole and green hole. Next time we hope go make use of the wonderful kitchen and dining room.
