This one-bedroom, one-bath recently renovated Mariners Watch villa is only 300 yards from the beach and has great nature and lagoon views off the large screened-in porch.

The unit has been refreshed with fresh paint, and a new master bed with a king size bed. There is a sofa sleeper in the living room, too. The open concept main living room, dining area and kitchen lead to the screened-in porch where you have a table and chairs to dine, relax, and enjoy the lagoon view. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there are two flat screen TV`s (one in the bedroom and one in the living room). The unit has a washer and dryer and wireless internet. It is also pet friendly!

Mariner`s Watch Villas are located in Kiawah`s East Beach, just across the street from Night Heron Park with basketball courts, a soccer field, playground, and Nature Center. The East Beach Tennis Facility is a short distance away as well as the Market at Town Center where you can get a quick bite to eat or a cup of coffee.

Kiawah Island is known for its natural beauty and extensive wildlife. It offers a multitude of family activities; riding bikes on the miles of bike paths, kayaking with dolphins on the river, crabbing and fishing from the dock, walking along the ten mile stretch of sandy beach, combing the shoreline for shells and other treasures, or just simply enjoying the island life. Of course, don't forget the 5 award winning golf courses.

Good little place

Everything was very nice except the fact that my parents that stayed there had to do whole cleaning service responsibilities since that was the list they were sent to do. Overwhelming to say the least.

Perfect getaway

Wonderful weekend stay. Perfect location on Kiawah Island. Home was clean and very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again, and recommend it to everyone planning a trip to Charleston. Property management was the best - professional, thorough and available to handle any issues.

Great view and a cozy apartment!

We've stayed at Mariner's Watch before and this is one of the best units we've stayed in. The only negative is the small closet.

Great stay

The condo is quaint and has all one would need. My fiance and I worked remotely multiple days and never any issues with space or wifi. It also has close proximity to the beach!

4260 Mariners Watch Stay

My husband and teen daughters stayed Easter week. The good: Close to the beach - literally steps. Sliding doors open the screened porch to the living room Comfortable king bed in the main bedroom Clean with games, books, TVs and Wifi Nice kitchen appliances and cookware, glassware, utensils The proximity to the beach is fabulous, but this unit is also close the The Nest (for coffee, snacks, quick bites, drinks etc), a nice basketball court, and nature center. There are some needed improvements. Disclaimer is that we did not contact property owner or Sweetgrass about these items during our stay. We did not want to have to relocate our pets in the event someone needed to come to the unit. 1. Sleeper sofa is not usable. The sofa mattress is very thin with hard metal coils that are not padded, and the support sagged so that you could not find a place to lie flat. We could not use it. 2. There are pillows and linens are provided, but extra sofas in the closet are bare - no pillowcases anywhere to be found, and stained. I would replace with new pillows and cases, or discard. 3. The thermostat had a note not to set temperature above a certain setting. We obliged, but were uncomfortably hot at night. The inside temp was close to 10 degrees higher than the setting. We had to sleep with sliding door open with fan in front. 4. Windows could not be cracked to ventilate. The latches are broken and will not function to open.

Great little condo

Perfect for our son, daughter-in-law and their small dog to stay for a week while visiting us in Windswept. The condo is clean, stylish and the kitchen is well equipped. A few extra things would make it a perfect 5 star rating. - extra hangers - hooks in the bathroom and hallways for wet towels, jackets, beach bags - at least two luggage racks (there is only one) - extra towel bars in the bathroom for wet towels We provided our kids with extra paper towels, toilet tissue, Kleenex, detergent, dishwasher detergent and garbage bags as Sweetgrass suggested. We also took advantage of Sweetgrass’s offer to arrive at 2pm for an extra $50 and leave at noon for $50. A very nice perk! Overall, a great little condo for a weeks stay in beautiful Kiawah Island.

Great Screened In Porch!

The porch with rocking chairs was so wonderful for coffee in the morning and wine at night. Clean place with all the amenities you need for a couple day trip. Would definitely stay there again!!!

Nice property

Having stayed in other units in the same complex this one compares good in most areas. It was clean, nicely decorated, very close to beach. However the kitchen was not fully equipped. The dishwasher and washer/dryer are old and needs replacing. The tv is too small for the room size in the den. Lastly the door needs a deadbolt for security reasons. The door now is just a door knob that could be easily opened by intruders.

Lovely spot but could use some work

Good location, but the property could use touch up for paint, handles, and appliances. Needed a tub stopper, which was supplied upon request, but figured things like this should come standard. Hope they maintain the property!

Close to beach

It is a short walk to beach and pet friendly. We enjoyed having our dog with us. We would stay here again, however it needs some maintenance. The top rack of dishwasher needs repair and lights under kitchen cabinets did not work. The shower is in the jacuzzi tub and quite deep. It would be helpful to have a bar to hold while stepping out of the tub. Kiawah is a wonderful place where we have been visiting for 40 years.

Amazing Kiawah beach haven

Perfect for two, this condo in a gated community was well-appointed, clean and cozy. Great location on Kiawah Island, close to the beach, golf, fine dining etc. The screened porch was perfect for relaxing at sundown watching the deer stroll by. We loved our stay here!

plumbing problems

On day 2 of my 4 day stay the toilet backed up and overflowed. It took two phone calls to get a response from the property manager. Finally Roto Rooter arrived after 9 pm. He was there doing his thing until 10 pm. left with wet, grimy floor and soiled towels. I left a day early.

Nice Kiawah vacay

Nice fairly clean condo for lovely stay in Kiawah. Very close to beach. Appreciate allowing dog to stay. Only minor critiques, such as nowhere to hang stuff (towels, etc), limited kitchen space, and an odd noise when air conditioner running. Nothing to take away from the always beloved beach and bike trails of Kiawah, a family summer tradition.

Problems in Paradise

Lots of broken or malfunctioning items: dishwasher, light, garbage disposal. Some pots, pans and utensils dirty. Nice enough and comfortable with wonderful beach access. All the broken items were a drag.

I'm going to hold off posting on VRBO because we really did have a nice two weeks there. The location was great, the the condo was a great size for us. The one comment that I want to make, which is why I am rating this as “needs improvement” is the smell of the condo. I noticed it once we arrived, but the weather was nice we kept the windows and patio door open most of the 2 weeks. But as the weather got warm we had to use the AC and it just smelled up the room as if smokers owned the place. My wife's breathing started to suffer. We didn't complain as we were oat the tail end of our vacation. Once we came home it was really noticeable on our clothes. The filter really needs to be replaced at that unit and/or advertise as a smokers condo.

Needs Improvement

First arrived and finding problem as shown below and should be fixed before arriving. Dining room wobble - due to loose leg. Dishwasher top rack broken. Noticed the bathroom little small not much place to hang up the towel and shaving kit, etc.

The service from Sweet Grass was great! We messaged you regarding a really badly soiled shower curtain and a new curtain was installed the very next day. Thanks so much for that! The property was a bit tired and could use a little touching up. There was nothing glaring and we really enjoyed our stay. Some specifics are: The microwave counter light was inoperative and a bulb was out on the actual under cabinet / counter light by the sink was also out - this makes for a very dark counter when preparing meals and cleaning up. The toaster doesn't work properly - you have to hold the lever down for it to toast anything - the lever won't stay down on its own The bathroom sink was not properly cleaned when we arrived - there was still soap & toothpaste residue on the sink The oven doesn't heat to the proper temperature - we cooked fish one night - set the oven to 375 and cooked the fish for 25 minutes and the fish was still raw in the middle - then set the oven to 450 and cooked for another 30 minutes and the fish was finally done The aforementioned shower curtain was really bad - probably should not have been there at all Thanks!

Inexpensive but disappointing

We booked ten nights in March. Often we marvel at the spoiled pickiness of reviewers, but this one deserves some of that: Immediately upon entering, you'll notice a large amount of crud lodged between the screen and the louvers of the front screen door. All the floors are entirely bare so there's nothing to pick up the bit of sand that inevitably comes inside with you (even if you leave your shoes outside, as we learned to do). The result is that you always felt you were walking on grit (you were). The only exception was the front (outside) doormat, but that was literally full of sand (by which I mean that, when I tried shaking it out, sand never stopped pouring out of it). A broom and dustpan are provided for sweeping the floors. We did that daily and each time picked up lots of dog fur that had not come from our short-haired dachshund. I know this is a “dog-friendly” rental, but given that everyone pays an additional pet fee, it's not too much to expect that the last guy's fur would be vacuumed up. The bedroom has a nice walk-in closet, but it's half-full with the owner's belongings, so there's little space for one's own things. One of the chest's lower drawers lacks a pull, but you can reach underneath to pull it out. The ceiling fan is unusable, loud and unbalanced. Only half of the front window opens, and that only a couple of inches. The front window blinds are far too long for the window frame (you're supposed to shorten them when installing) and were crooked and difficult to operate. The bathroom is tiny. There's nothing that can be done about that, but the tub is one of those absurd “jetted” things, with missing parts and high, shin-bumping sides. The shower-tub's water-mixing valve is set so that a hot shower is impossible to get. The exhaust fan (with its burned-out light) makes some noise, but there's little evidence it moves any air. The bed and the sofa both are too large for the unit. If they had used suitably sized models, I think the place would feel less claustrophobic. The kitchen counter area is dark. There's an under-cabinet light to one side, but most of its bulbs did not operate. The refrigerator worked well, but it was hinged on the wrong side. The dishwasher rack was balky and would not roll in its tracks. The selection of kitchen supplies is odd: One clear wine glass, one or two blue ones, four champagne glasses, and lots of odds and ends of other glasses, bowls, and plates. The dining table is bar-height and wobbly, so eating there less than relaxing. On the plus side, the unit was quiet and well-located.
