The River House is a large farmhouse, that borders the scenic Juniata River, with a stone section built in the 1790s. Enjoy canoeing, fishing, swimming, campfires, and more! Watch and listen to the trains across the river as they go by. There is plenty of space to relax, but also so many things to do for those looking for entertainment. The home comes with a large 1 acre plus yard for recreation and games. The back porch is equipped with a grill to compliment the firepit. This property was perfect for a group of us to stay all together for a wedding at Juniata Valley Winery. Quaint farmhouse with history and a perfect gathering place for afterwards! We did not get to enjoy the property as much as we would have liked but will definitely go back for future gatherings! Thank you Elvin for sharing your home!

Hi Christian, Sorry for the confusion. Normal checkout is 11:00. I had communicated you could stay longer if it doesn't get booked for that day. It did get booked, so we needed to stay with the 11:00 check out. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Elvin

Our family’s stay at the historic River Farm was a true pleasure. The home’s historic significance is tremendous: its stone section was built in 1790, and the farm later belonged to our family for four generations of Kerchner’s, from 1874 to 1968. We believe the center expansion was likely added by our ancestor Seth Kerchner after 1893, which made returning to the property even more meaningful. Reserving the property for our family reunion felt remarkable, and we were grateful to see how beautifully our host has cared for both the home and the surrounding farmland. He was exceptionally accommodating and helpful, and we enjoyed sharing some of the farm’s historical photos and stories with him and his wife. Twenty family members of all ages stayed at the home, and on reunion day we welcomed 42 guests to the property. The antique kitchen table expands to seat approximately 12 to 14 people, and the property included plenty of folding tables and chairs, which we set up on the large back porch. Everyone had a seat, plenty of space, and room to gather and talk throughout the day. With its expansive grounds and river access, this home is a wonderful destination for a large gathering, and I would highly recommend it.

Stayed here for the weekend for a family wedding that was in the area. Place was very clean upon checking in and had no issues while there. The house is large and located right next to a fishing stream. Very peaceful and quiet setting. The owner is quick to respond to questions. So glad we stayed here.

Weekend Visit to Port Royal Speedway

Nice property. Great location for a weekend of racing at the speed palace. Size of the house allowed us to spread out and offered plenty of sleeping options. Would definitely stay again.

This place is amazing! It is huge! We had 19 people and didn't feel crowded at all. Not only was there a great room for all of us to gather, but other nooks for smaller groups. And the kitchen table seats 18 people and has 2 refrigerators. Although the weather was cold and snowy, River House was cozy and warm. Host was very quick to respond to queries. Grocery store really close by.

Awesome house and awesome amountof space

Property was gorgeous, old farmhouse with plenty of room for the kids to play and parents socialize. Beds were comfy too!! Highly recommend!!!
