The Commodore East is the perfect large group vacation destination. This 5-bedroom 4 bath beach front duplex has all the elements needed for a fabulous beach vacation. Be sure to check out the "Rachel", a schooner that ran aground in 1923 and has been parked in front of the Commodore ever since.

The first level of this duplex sports incredible views with a wall of windows. When you are seated at the massive dining table, you'll be able to dine with a great view. There is additional counter seating so everyone can enjoy mealtime together. The kitchen has a unique, large prep counter for those nights when you are staying in for dinner. Or it can serve as a convenient buffet counter for casual dining. You'll be pleased to discover all new hard surface flooring, granite, stainless steel appliances and interior paint throughout.

There is also a large pantry, washer and dryer and full bath on this first level.

Head to the second level and you'll find the primary suite. A king size bed and balcony access make this the perfect retreat. The full bath features a garden tub, double vanity, stall shower and private water closet.

Also on the second level are two king rooms that share a hall bath.

Continue on to the third level and you'll discover the bunkroom and another room with a king bed. The bunkroom houses two twin/twin/twin bunks and a full/ full bunk with twin trundle.

Great time at Commodore East

Family vacay

Reviewer Comments: The living room rug was wet, you could tell they had just mopped before we got there- and that’s ok...just not ok to have a soaking wet rug. The doors out onto the balcony on the main floor don’t really stay closed if it’s windy. You have to dead bolt it. Tons of air flows through non stop. The dryer doesn’t work too well and leave lint all over everything. The beds are super loud, but ok for a week stay.

This house needs some fixes. Dishwasher holds water which smells. Third floor is a mess that room with 8 beds is the worst. Roof has yellow spots and we found all kinds of trash behind the beds. Impossible to regulate the air conditioning. We had fun but the house was not our favorite.

Beach was great. It was clean and nice to walk up and down. The house is large and accommodated our family well. The table was perfect for meals and games. Saw dolphins and plenty of birds from the decks. Was disappointed in property upkeep. Water stains in ceiling, tub drain in middle bathroom slow and filled with water, two bathrooms had a drain that was not pulled out of tub, 1 toilet paper roll holder was not even in the wall, 1 window could not even shut in great room, the others do not open, hand railing needs painting, no blinds in great room facing the beach, blinds broke in one bathroom, etc. I was thinking at this price point things would be a little more upkept. Cleanliness - At least 2 beds had sand and other people's body hair in upon check-in. We washed. Windows were so dirty we washed because we were there for the view, toothpaste and other stains on vanity upon check-in. Noise-1st night we had neighbors and did not hear much, then the duplex on the other side was vacant until the last 2 nights we had new neighbors and it was LOUD. Not sure what can be done about, but just be prepared to not sleep if your neighbors are up and down the stairs. Felt like we were in their portion. I sounds like I am complaining a lot, but these are our honest feelings and feel that others that are renting should be aware. We were not and it started our vacation off on a bad note.

Almost perfect!!!

Beautiful home and perfect location. The view is amazing from both balconies. I love to cook and was glad to have everything one would need. Plenty of dishes and silverware as well. The only issue is it’s a duplex. I’m sure that’s not usually a problem but if there’s a group of teens next door to you that run up and down the stairs you will hear them.

Perfect for large groups

We were very pleased with our stay. We had a large group full of adults and children. We enjoyed the large inside space, large table and private beach. Renters were very responsive. Easy check in and out process!

Exactly what we were looking for.

Our group of 16 (ages 11 to mid-40s) had an amazing trip. I was concerned that the property may feel cramped with all of us but was definitely not. In fact, another family joined us on the beach and for meals and there was plenty of room for 21 people. The interior seems to have been updated recently, although the shower floors have some wear (nothing gross). Nice appliances. The location is perfect if you want to be away from crowds. The Sassy Bass market around the corner was perfect to grab some ice every morning and replenish our daiquiri mix. Here are things I think are good to know. Shipt delivers groceries to this property. The air conditioning is always “iffy” on the coast, but it worked great on our stay. Never an issue with hot water. The kitchen has plenty of room to move around; pantry is huge. There is parking under the house. There is a hose and shower under the house to rinse off after the beach. There are a lot of oil/gas rigs that you can see off the coast. Not a big deal at all, but if that kind of thing bothers your view, it’s good to know. Washer and dryer have large capacities. Brooms, mops, and fans are available. We had a fantastic trip and would absolutely stay at the Commodore East again.

Great Beach House

Spring Break Vacation

I’m assuming it was well insulated and sound proof between the two bc we had kids and the neighbors had bigger dogs. We didn’t hear them. It was far from the main stores/restaurants than what I expected but nice at the same time. We had a peaceful beach front. There’s construction next door and further down on the upcoming beach homes early in the morning to late at night at times. They would park near the driveway. The home looked just like the pictures. When we arrived, we cleaned up a bit bc there was still sand on the floors, stairs, and couches. The kitchen was equipped with cookware and plenty of cups/plates/silverware when we would cook. Overall, it was a nice beachfront, away from the public crowded beaches.
