House is older, needs updated. Found food left on plates and silverware. (Probably left from previous renters). Only one small light in the kitchen, light over stove wasn't working. Water flowed poorly from shower heads. Beds were horrible. The back deck was in ruff shape. No local channels on tv.

Upstairs is very warm even with the fans. Beds were not very comfortable. Besides those 2 issues the place is great! Brings lots of bug spray. Mosquitos are bad!!

Not good, left after first night. House needs complete overhaul. Dark, musty, old furniture and bedding. No ac so windows were open and bugs got in. Lighting is terrible..and few outlets. Showers are very old and small. Would not recommend renting in current condition.

Great place to snowmobile from.

Great place to stay for snowmobiling. Cold upstairs but they provide large space heaters.

Refuge in Trout Lake

Pleasantly surprised by the convenient location, the roominess, and the amenities, especially being able to relax on the deck. The home was clean and stocked with what was needed for our stay.

The house was perfect for our group of four couples. It was clean and well stocked. We enjoyed our stay! The house was hard to find using Google maps on our phone. It took us across the road from where the house was. Our friends who used the Ford navigation on their truck had no problem. As other reviews mention, the well water isn’t the best so best to bring your own for drinking and coffee.

Girls trip

The property was great! Well stocked, centrally located, and spacious. There was just 3 of us so we had plenty of room and it was easy to travel everywhere we wanted to go!

Great Location for Riding ATV/UTV

Nice central location to ride trails or forest roads Nice size driveway for multiple trucks and trailers. House worked great for our group size of 7. There was plenty of room if you have a larger group then us.

Easy and Clean

We wanted to visit various places in the UP and needed a central place to use as our base. This property in Trout Lake was perfect for our needs. Easy access to everywhere we wanted to visit and one central sleeping point.

It worked very well for our group and we had a great time. Property was as described and well appointed for our time there. A/C would have been nice as it warm during the day, but being in the UP, it cooled down at night.

Snowmobile trip for 6

Perfect for a snowmobile trip for a larger group. Room for 5 guys to all have beds, plenty of seating, convenient location on the edge of town a couple blocks from the trail. Room for 3 trucks with trailers to park.

We rented for a snowmobiling long weekend for 3 couples, and the place was perfect for that purpose. The issues we had were very small and insignificant (e.g., no basket in the coffee maker). I very much recommend this place, particularly for snowmobiling.

Back to nature

Property was clean and exactly what was expected. Plenty of room for my family along with enough dishes, towels, etc which is sometime a problem with a large family. Easy check in and out. I would definately recommend!

Wedding trip

The house was in an ideal location for us. Made traveling back and forth to the wedding venue and reception very easy. The house was ideal for everyone in our party. The few troubles we had the host was very receptive and friendly. Helped us with work arounds for the situation we were having. Would glad stay here again.

Location was perfect for the UP attractions we wanted to see. House was very well stocked. Host was quick to respond for questions. The WiFi was not very reliable, it’s satellite so it was because of the weather and uncontrollable. A couple of the beds have uneven ware which made them not so comfortable. The TV in one room did not have sound but no big deal as we weren’t there to watch TV. Overall a very nice place to stay for value, location and courteous host.

Overall conditions

Our stay was excellent. Problems were, very low lighting in the kitchen. Floors needed mopping badley. Socks and feet became very black. Many large black ants in upstairs bathroom.

Comfortable for three couples. Liked outdoor sitting areas. Nice remodel on this older building. Only suggestion: add mixing bowls & baking pans. No 8x8, 9x13, muffin tins.
