This is a charming small house in an excellent Florence historic location, just two blocks from the landmark Ponte Vecchio. You will enjoy the feeling of living in a home with a terrace, right in the center of Florence!

It is tastefully decorated with an up-to-date kitchen and bathroom.
Cross the Ponte Vecchio going towards the Pitti Palace, take a quick left up a little street, and you're home in two minutes after morning of sightseeing, an afternoon of shopping, or a long lunch. Just on the other side of the river is the famed Uffizi Gallery, only an five minute walk from the house.

One of the most surprising aspects is that this is truly an independent house, on its very own little piazza, the tiny 'Piazza de' Bonsi ' and was built in 1890 by the longtime Florentine Bonsi della Ruota family.

The spacious living room has a beautiful antique painted Venetian china cupboard, lovely Tuscan dining table and chairs, and a comfortable sofa that includes a pop-up trundle bed that can be made up into two twin beds or a king-size bed. Enjoy breakfast in the kitchen if you prefer at the little counter that overlooks onto the private garden of the lovely villa next door. Off the kitchen is a small laundry room with washing machine.

The bedroom is upstairs with a king-size bed and beautiful Tuscan armoire and dresser. Off the upstairs landing is the private terrace where you can take your morning espresso or sip a glass of Chianti as the sun sets over this dazzling city. The bathroom is nicely appointed, clean white tile and marble, enclosed shower, bidet, good water pressure, lots of storage and halogen lighting.

Casetta Bonsi della Ruota is conveniently located, you can walk to all the major attractions.

Firenze trip

Apartment is spotless in very good condition. Exactly as described. There is a fine grocery store close to Ponte Vecchio with a large selection of foods on offer. Also some good pastry shops. One caution is that the access is about 150 meters up a steep hill. At the end of the day for those 60+ after having walked all day, this can be a challenge.

Great location and super cute place

We loved our stay in Florence and having this cozy apartment was super convenient. Aside from the short walk up and down a steep hill its was great! Although we didn’t mind the extra exercise! Quiet street close to the bridge and all sorts of action. Highly recommend, will use again!

A week’s return visit to Florence after 25 years

My partner and I found these accommodations spectacular! Impeccably clean and furnished and comfortable. It is true to the pictures online—and the two levels and the layout of the rooms even more delightful than the photos can capture. We were sad to say goodbye to this very special place and hope to return one day.

Authentic Italian

Overall great stay in this authentic Italian apartment. Very clean. The little touches like the bottle of wine, bottle of water, the cookies, the bar of soap, the little extras were very thoughtful and appreciated. Check in was super easy. Fantastic location with walking distance to so much! Literally 3 minute walk away from Ponte Vecchio. Felt very safe here. I thought we would use the balcony but we never did. Not really very comfy. Plus we were out all day every day exploring. The bed was a bit firm. Some may like that. The biggest issue we had was with the mosquitos inside the apartment! We got bitten every night while asleep. And not one or two bites. Many bites. We're from Canada and we're used to mosquitos but we don't have them in our home like this place does. I think screens on the windows would help. That's what works for us.

Great location! Easily walkable, quiet neighborhood.

We had a wonderful time staying in this VRBO. The location is perfect, 10/10. We arrived early, the host helped us coordinate a spot to leave luggage to allow us to walk around Florence. We were so close to Ponte Vecchio & a short walk to sunsets at piazzale michelangelo, a grocery store and many good options for aperitivo and coffee. Would return again.

A great place to launch your exploration of Florence

The property is sizeable and clean, with all the amenities we needed. Air conditioning worked great, laundry facilities (badly needed at our third week in Europe) were good, and proximity to anything we wanted to walk to was perfect. I will say the cash that was required at check-in was irksome - allowing me to pre-pay online would have helped avoid a trip to the ATM at an awkward time. Also you must traverse a steep incline to get to the apartment, which can be daunting after a day of walking the city. The 2-wheeled vehicles that park in front can definitely be irritating noise-wise, but something we got used to. We had a great stay and will certainly consider this property again for future stays in Florence.

Well appointed Ponte Vecchio

Really enjoyed the unit. It is two levels with bedroom and bathroom upstairs. Kitchen and living room downstairs. Well appointed with paintings and nice furniture. AC was great since it was hot. Location was excellent just two blocks up from ponte Vecchio. Very manageable 20 minute walk to train station. Really enjoyed unit although could be difficult with stairs.

Lovely house, fantastic location

We spent four weeks at Casetta Bonsi in October 2021. Since we were there for an extended period, we settled in and became very familiar with the house and surroundings; more so compared to the usual one-two week visit. The house proved to be very comfortable. The upstairs bedroom is large and has plenty of closet space. The bed was very good. The bathroom also is fairly large and features new, modern furnishings. The terrace is small but good for sitting out in for morning coffee. The downstairs seating and dining areas were great for lounging around during the evening. The kitchen is small but functional, and fairly well-equipped. (Note, however, that while there is a microwave, it doesn't have an oven.) The dishwasher and clothes washer were an added bonus. As other reviewers have noted, the location is exceptional. The main tourist areas are steps away. Plus, the Bardini and Boboli gardens are a short walk up the hill (past a house where Galileo once lived); both are lovely and a great respite from the crowds (although, TBH, it wasn't so crowded when we were there). Finally, the owner, Maurizio, was very friendly and accommodating. We needed his help with a couple of very minor things, and he was super helpful and responsive. Recommended heartily and unconditionally!

Wonderful Florence apartment, location and stay!

Wonderful vacation in Florence! Our stay at Casetta Bonsi was perfect from start to finish. We totally enjoyed our stay in this comfortable, charming house very close the Ponte Vecchio bridge. It was spotlessly clean, very beautifully furnished and well maintained as well a lovely welcome of chocolates for our arrival! Loved having a glass of wine at the Golden View just a 5 minute walk away, great views over the Arno river at sunset. Favorite restaurants were Casalinga and Il Bordino for authentic Tuscan food. We would definitely recommend staying at Casetta Bonsi.

Not 5 Star and Not Recommended

This place is well located for eating, drinking and sightseeing. The place itself is what it is; it’s old and it’s in Italy! The kitchen is hopeless so it’s lucky there are places nearby to eat. Cleanliness is an issue. Don’t walk around the place in bare feet unless you like the underside of your feet turning black. Also, if dust is your thing, there’s lots in the upholstery as well as plenty under any low to the floor piece of furniture. We would go out for the day and be fine only to return later in the day and instantly have a sneezing session and a blocked nose until we left again. The AC works OK but life would be simpler if MM the owner (aka Scrooge) would provide a remote for both the upstairs and downstairs units rather than trusting you with only one. Don’t bother with the TV. It’s painfully small and mostly shows snow. The Wi-Fi works, but it’s slow and takes frequent rest breaks. Check-in is painful as MM collects the cleaning fee and the city tax and then shows you around and takes you through his ‘suggestions and recommendations’, which are thoughtfully provided as a printed document and which would rival the rules in place when Italy was run by Mussolini! Should you be staying more than 7 nights, as we were, make sure you make arrangements at check-in with MM about the linen and towels change to which you are entitled. Otherwise, as happened with us, it won’t happen. MM understands every one of the provisions in the letting agreement that puts money in his pocket but none of those that provide something to you. During the check-in process you need to pay full attention to the butane and electricity meter readings that MM takes (or has taken). You will need these at check-out so you can do your own sums against the check-out meter readings, unless of course you enjoy being ripped off. At check-out, if MM produces a small solar powered calculator from the Venetian cupboard, you need to pay very close attention to his calculations. This calculator is as old as MM and simply doesn’t work properly. He had us down for 100 kWh more than the 79 kWh we had used. At 55-euro cents a kWh (which where we come from, we call gouging) it would have been bye-bye to 55 euros. And let me tell you, it took 20 minutes of stressful arguing with MM before he finally got the calculation correct. Then followed another argument about the 20 euros change he needed to give me from the cash payment I had just made to him. Scrooge himself would have been proud.

Very lovely, well appointed home located on a quite picturesque side street.

The owners, Maurizio and Gabrielle, provided a warm welcome upon our arrival. Maurizio gave us a complete understanding of all the features of the home as well as providing detailed info on local shops, restaurants and points of interest. He was also very helpful in arranging transportation to and from the train station. The house itself is well appointed and provides all the comforts of home. It is also just minutes away from the Ponte Vecchio and other historical sites. When we return to Florence there will be one place we will want to stay and that will be Maurizio’s home.

All the comforts of home in the heart of Florence

This was the perfect spot for our visit to Florence with our 20-something son. My husband and I enjoyed the privacy of the upstairs master bedroom and our son found the pull-out couch in the living room worked just fine for him. Every little touch is thought of in this small house. The kitchen was fully equipped with a dishwasher too. Maurizio met us when we arrived and gave us a very full orientation to the place. He also thoughtfully arranged a cab for us, the day we left. There were many personal touches -- we arrived to find a bowl of fresh fruit, a bottle of wine and Italian cookies to welcome us. This little place is a short walk from everything that we wanted to see in Florence and has a grocery store and various restaurants just 5 minutes away. Maurizio left us a very helpful list of good reasonably-priced restaurants in the area, which we used. We would happily stay here again!

Great place in the heart of Florence

We spent a week in a wonderful, historic house, only a few meters away from the center of Florence with all its marvels, close to the river and to the ponte vecchio. A good super market is round the corner. Our contact with the agency and with the house owner was easy and absolutely friendly. If you stay in Florence in winter, you will have to pay a bit for the heating, because this comes apart. And ask about the wifi, if you need it. When we were there it was not really reliable, but the owner promised to check. We would certainly book the house again.

Great place, even better hospitality

The house was everything that we expected from the pictures. It felt like home during our 5 day stay. Maurizio made everything great from making recommendations for meals and visits to helping us book the taxi to the train station at the end of our stay. The attention to details in decorating the house, communicating before the visit, and greeting his guests were the best we have ever experienced in our years of traveling. Additionally the location is perfect, close to the bustle of Firenze but a cozy getaway during the hot summer afternoons. The house is perfect if one has no problems walking up steep cobblestone streets. It can be a hike at times but worth it.

Absolute gem of a find in Florence

It was the perfect place to stay in Florence. Spacious and comfortable apartment in the heart of Florence. Minutes walk to major attractions and extremely convenient. The hosts were super gracious and were very hospitable. Would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling to Florence.

A gem in the middle of Florence!

We couldn't have asked for a more picturesque home for our Florence stay or a better location. It was perfect in all aspects. The neat thing about Casetta is that it is so central but it still has such an authentic neighborhood feel. The gourmet supermarket nearby is really handy and there are nice restaurants and cafe's within a 5 minute walk. Maurizio greeted us warmly and was so helpful. I'd also like to point out that in all my years of travel, Casetta Bonsi was the cleanest place I've ever stayed - such an attention to detail. Thank you Italy Perfect for taking such good care of us!

Fantastic Five Star stay in Florence!

My wife & I had a wonderful winter getaway to Florence which was only further enhanced by our stay at Casetta Bonsi. Perfectly situated on the Oltrarno side of the river just a few minutes walk from the Ponte Vecchio bridge. Working with Italy Perfect to reserve our trip was easy, they were always very responsive and helpful. Maurizio who met us at Casetta on arrival was a pleasure to get to know. The house was meticulously clean, well organized and we received a pleasant welcome, even including chocolates on our pillows. We would most certainly recommend staying at Casetta Bonsi for a fine Florence experience. Thank you Italy Perfect and Maurizio for everything you did to make our stay "perfect".

Centrally located 2 floor apartment/home

Overall, this was an authentic and quaint little house, and probably an ideal home-base for a short vacation in Tuscany. If you have other needs such as longer stay for work/travel, reliable internet, and a comfortable kitchen to cook regularly then you may need something else. It has 2 floors and is filled with antiques and antique furnishings. Maurizio was a great host, meeting us whenever we ran into any issues and explaining in great detail on the cottage's functionality. The cottage was centrally located in the Oltrarno near the Ponte Vecchio (about 5 minutes) with a grocery right around the corner, an awesome cafe (Golden View Open), and lots of restaurants nearby. We walked everywhere our entire 2 week stay in Florence. Maurizio and his wife were very welcoming with a bottle of wine, fruit and cookies. The amenities were nice from the soft white towel sets and bathroom toiletries to the coffee and kitchen condiments. Regarding noise, the property sits in a little square where many people park their mopeds and motorcycles. So there is some level of noise as they are frequently started and parked. Personally for us we ran into a few issues. We were in this property in December and it was cold. The heating system was on a coded timer and couldn't be adjusted. Since the floors are a stone tile and the windows weren't really insulated, it was actually colder in the apt than outside. Maurizio came immediately the next day and released the code so we could manually adjust the temperature to our liking which was better but still a little chilly indoors. Another factor was hot water. Again since it was December and it was cold, the shower never achieved a comfortable heat level. The Wifi, this is probably a country wide issue, but it was barely working. To check emails it was okay but for anything beyond that, it was hair-tearingly frustrating. We couldn't look up restaurants, book tickets, check out local events, stream videos, etc. If we had come in the summer, maybe this would have been ideal, but the winter was definitely a factor in some of our issues with the property. Another mistake was that we booked this property last minute and in our rush we didn't thoroughly read the terms and agreements that Italy Perfect had us sign. So a few things were overlooked by us, credit card fees (20%) , the coded thermostat, etc. Maurizio and Italy Perfect were prompt and did what they could to alleviate our issues.
