11 bedrooms, 12 1/2 baths, sleeps 44. Christmas week in The Smokies

We had 20 family members - age 2 to 72 - gather for Christmas week at this very large lodge. Stan, the property manager, and his team of Brian and Bob, did an exceptional job for us from the booking of the cabin to the day we had to leave to return home. They went out of their way, provided some extras not even required, and responded immediately to every detail and request for help that we had before and during our stay and the whole experience was great. The house is in a very convenient location - an easy drop down into Pigeon Forge.Our only non-5 Star rating on the cleanliness we'll discuss with Stan, but the comment here is really directed to the owner of the lodge -- as local management can only deal with what they are given to work with. A house of this size (11BR, 14 baths and double kitchen) really can't be made detail clean in just a few hours between guests.Just getting BR's and baths done is major challenge for the cleaning person. The owner really needs to provide sufficient resources to allow for at least a quarterly, vacant day, top to bottom detail cleaning of the house - if their goal is 5 stars across the board. All in all we had a great week and thoroughly enjoyed the lodge and our time together.

Enjoyed space - Needed more cleaning

We appreciated an early check in by the host. Upon arriving the home had a welcoming appearance but further checking found a lot of uncleanliness as well as some leftover personally used items in one of the bedrooms. There were many things that were good for our large family: the size , especially the dining & sleeping areas, the kitchen is that many could gather around to work,r suites in each bedroom, the pool for our little ones( it is only 3’ deep which was good for them). Also the temp of both the pool & hot tub were good. The maintenance man who we had to call several times was very very helpful. Back to the cleaning.-I had had a conversation with the host before we arrived due to some earlier reviews & hoped for the best. After hours of cleaning, I had another conversation with the host explaining the place needed more than surface cleaning between groups. I had sent pictures & he agreed the cleaning was unacceptable. It needed deep cleaning which I detailed for him. He said it was not booked the next week & he would bring in deep cleaners. We gave him a checklist to help & he gave us some refund of the cleaning fees. Hopefully this was accomplished so others do not find the home as we did.

Baseball Tournament

The house was absolutely perfect for our large group. We had plenty of room and there was so much for everyone to do while hanging out at the house. One of our guests left his laptop at the house on the last day and Stan went above and beyond to make sure we got the laptop back! Highly recommend!

Amazing Cabin!

We had an amazing stay at the cabin! 40 people from grandparents, young adults, and family friends all having lots to do with all of the amenities included and celebrating a wedding weekend together. We encountered the most beautiful sunrises, scenery, and wildlife. There were some sheets missing for the pullout couches, and confusion on how to use the movie room, but the host replied very quickly and helped us resolve both problems very quickly! Such a spacious cabin and would absolutely book again!!

Great location. Nicely laid out house for large groups

We arrived with a frustrated maintenance person trying to fix a toilet House was not the cleanest (urine in toilet had turned to ammonia.. dead bugs throughout kitchen area… inside cabinets very dusty and webs.. and pots and pans were nasty) but nice and big for my dads 85th birthday NO CELL service at least for Verizon and AT&T had to use internet which failed multiple times. Door to pool did not shut and or lock but maintenance fix that the next day Maintenance came back the second day to fix pool door and toilet. Toilet still not working he would come back later. Again returned and got it We did have issues but manager would respond when we could get a message to him. Due to internet (not his fault! ) connection continued to fail off and on Overall great layout and location. Needs some cleaning and maintenance

Overall nice place

We had a group of Senior Adults come and stay, and it was absolutely wonderful! Plenty of space, lots of great things to do.. however, I did notice that it was not as clean as I would hope. Half the irons weren’t working, the theatre room had popcorn everywhere, and the coffee pots had old grounds in them. Minus those issues, the place was wonderful, and we will book again next year.

Torrance family

The house was great. It was advertised as 13 bedrooms but it has 11 bedrooms and can accommodate people on pull out sofas. There should be adequate amount of linen for the pull out sofas and wash cloth and towels for all the guest. Otherwise it was a wonderful house for our group. Mr Bob was excellent and went beyond the call of duty. We appreciated him

Perfect for a large family

We had an amazing stay at Sherwood Mansion. The home was perfect for our very large family, offering plenty of space for everyone to relax and enjoy. The game room, pool, and theater room were fantastic amenities that kept both the kids and adults entertained throughout our stay. We highly recommend this property for large groups looking for a fun and comfortable getaway. The only suggestion we have is that it would be great to see some upgrades in some of the cooking utensils (pans). Overall, a wonderful experience. We also want to compliment the Manager and two facilities/maintenance men, for their prompt response to a brief issue with the air conditioning and for keeping the pool clear and clean!

Great time with entire family!

The house had lots of room for everyone and was clean when we arrived. There was an issue with the heater in the pool, as it was not working when we got there. The property manager was responsive and got the pool maintenance to assist. They worked hard to find the part needed and get it replaced within a couple of days. The kids were so happy to have a warm pool to play in the rest of the trip.

Family Vacation

We had 26 family members enjoy a week in this beautiful cabin. There was plenty of room for sleeping as well as hanging out. The cabin requires a deep cleaning.

Family reunion

The house is very conveniently located and had everything we needed. We had 30 people and had enough space for everyone. The kids loved the theater room and in house pool. We had a couple of issues arise during our stay and the host was quick to respond and get things taken care of for us. I would recommend it to others. It was clean, the beds were reasonably comfortable and the kitchen was well set up for our family meals.

Some shower curtains were moldy Fans were dirty One bedroom drawer missing One bedroom no iron or ironing board. Cigarette butts left in butt can on patio Restroom by the pool inoperable. Some of the linen were dirty. AC Filter vents were dirty.

Women's Retreat 2024

We have stayed in this cabin twice now and it perfectly meets our every need. We will be booking again for next year's retreat. We have also stayed in other cabins with this same owner and they have all been top notch. They take very good care of their properties and are very nice to communicate with.

Great space, not very clean

We arrived for a 10 year wedding anniversary celebration. We were immediately amazed about how spacious the cabin was. The pictures did not do it justice, way more space than expected. While getting settled in we noticed there was a bit of an insect problem. That was not a big deal because we are in the woods, and some bugs are expected. The problem came when we found out one of the beds also had bugs in it. ( Not bed bugs) They were small roaches. Also the mattress in that same room had a deep red stain that may have been blood, so we had to adjust and accommodate our guest. A toilet on the main floor was out of order also. The maintenance guy came to fix it with no resolve, so again we had to adjust and accommodate for our guest. We made due under the circumstances, but it was such a shame that a property so beautiful and spacious has these issues. Also we loved how close it was to attractions, we will still visit the area in the future, but hopefully we can avoid these kind of issues.

Very nice Cabin

The cabin was very nice and clean.We did a couples trip and everyone gave this cabin a 5 star . No complains everything about it was very nice.If I every did a trip here again I would do the same cabin.

Such potential…such a disappointment

The size, design and layout of this property is amazing. It was a perfect fit for our need. I am just as amazed the upkeep and general cleanliness of the project did not match the level deserving of such an amazing cabin. This cabin deserves much better.

Sherwood Forest rental

Upon arrival cabin was beautiful and big like advertised. Dishes were a bit dirty we had to clean some before we used them. Some of the bedrooms had food in the beds under the sheets. Washer worked fine dryer did not work fine it would not dry and we had to wash towels upon departure. Theater room was amazing. Pool was nice but water was cold. We are from the south and pool was still to cold to swim in for us. Contacted manager but unsure if anything was done about it we did not get updated. Hot tub was small but was nice. Overall we would definitely go back. Both Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are a short driver away. Highly recommend for family gatherings with kids and big families.
