My wife and I as well as my sister and family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your beautiful home. Ideal location for our needs....short drive to westport and other areas of interest. Incredible family friendly property (or 5 good adult friends) with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and 3 full bathrooms. Kitchen was homey and easy to work in with every amenity you could possibly wish for. The living room was comfortable and had options for entertainment. Outdoors was peaceful with multiple options for play or relaxation. We loved the swings (regular, tire and bench style). Lots of parking. Multiple windows in the home allowed for lovely cross breezes and fresh air. Laundry machines were so appreciated. Communications with the host and caretaker were easy and encouraged. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more! Thank you!

Great house in the country but close to everything

The house has a lot of room for the family, and is equipped for whatever you need during your stay. It is in a good location for exploring County Mayo and the coast. Maura was very helpful, recommending things to do in the area. We really enjoyed our stay.

Fabulous cottage in a beautiful part of the world. So comfy and every amenity catered for. Could have stayed for a month! Host very helpful answering all the daft questions. Very much a home from home vibe and will most certainly be back. Will highly recommend to family and friends.

We felt the "warmth" of this home as soon as we walked in the door! What a perfect setting for our family to spend some quality time together. Marie was the perfect host and made sure that every detail was addressed in a timely fashion. Highly recommend!

The Sweetest Irish Countryside Home

We absolutely loved our stay at this home in Ireland! It was incredibly cozy and cute with an amazing view of the Irish countryside. We felt so relaxed every morning waking up here. I can't recommend this place enough!

Stunning home and perfect location

Truly enjoyed our stay in this lovely Ballintubber home. The property was spacious yet cozy, tucked away down a charming road. We were enamored by the unobstructed views of Crough Patrick and slept comfortably in the massive beds. Hard to find an accommodation like this in neighboring towns, would happily stay again!!

Family Reunion

I booked this fabulous and spacious property to enable the bringing together of my wider family as part of a long awaited visit to my homeland, Ireland. The owner, Karla, gave me wonderful suggestions before we arrived of what to see in the area, once we arrived everything was in pristine order. Lots of space in the kitchen and sitting room for our family to be comfortable. Each bedroom was lovely and bathrooms were spotless. The decor of the house is beautiful. Lots of space outside if you have little ones. We had a wonderful stay. Marie, our contact person was available and quick to answer our questions. Thank you, thank you to Teach Mo Choi.

Perfect house for mini family reunion

My wife and I stayed with our two teenager sons and two adult nieces. Two other family members staying nearby visited for meals. The house was perfect in every way. It was spotless and has a very large and well-manicured yard. The online photos are very accurate. It is in an excellent location in rural Mayo to serve as a base for exploring this beautiful and less-crowded area. Communication was friendly and easy. We look forward to a future stay.

Cozy and peaceful

We loved the house, particularly the eat-in kitchen and the farm land on all sides of the property. Our party was two adult couples and we had more than enough room to spread out and relax. Special thank you to Marie, the local property contact, who helped guide us on getting a replacement tire in town after a blowout on our rental car.

Our family of 8 was delighted to spend 4 nights at this lovely country home. This rural property was picturesque and perfectly Irish . Not only was the location close to our relative’s village, there was also a cozy cafe with coffee, sweets and breakfast lunch offerings as well as a great bar/restaurant with delicious food less than a 10 minute drive from the house. We had plenty of space to relax and play, comfortable beds and a large well equipped kitchen for cooking and eating in. Marie was a caring and attentive host who responded quickly to resolve any issues we encountered during our stay. Our little ones enjoyed visiting the cute donkeys just down the road too. Teach Mo Chroí is a great house in beautiful Mayo for a family stay.

Spacious yet cozy home in great location!

My family had a fabulous stay at this lovely home. The home was clean, spacious and had everything our family of 5 needed for a relaxing vacation in Ireland. The views were gorgeous, the setting so peaceful. The bedrooms and kitchen were large and the bathrooms very up to date. We took several day-trips from here, including to gorgeous Achill Island, Westport, Ashford Castle (where we fished and did horseback riding), and to visit family in Sligo. We enjoyed cooking in the cozy kitchen, and relaxing fireside in the evenings. Highly recommended!

Wonderful country home

This is a lovely, well equipped and comfortable country home. We are a 3 generation family group of 10 and we wanted an alternative to a hotel so we could spend time together. Something closer to Westport would have been convenient,but this gave us a quiet and peaceful spot. Kids played basketball and adults walked the narrow road to visit with donkeys and cattle. Saved by not hanging in the pubs (lol). Prior to visit we had pleasant contact with owner. Local caretaker, Marie, was very helpful.

A wonderful stay in Mayo

This property was everything we could have asked for. It was very close to Castlebar and about 30 minutes for Westport. The owner was very thorough in her instructions and she seemed to anticipate any issues or questions we would encounter. Her local housekeeper was wonderful and answered any questions we had. This property was an absolute deal and when we go to Ireland again, we plan to stay there again!!! I highly recommend it.

We are always delighted to hear that our guests enjoyed the property. I would like to clarify though, that Castlebar is no more than a 15 minute drive and, if taking the direct route behind our home, Westport is a 20 minute drive.

The BEST stay ever!

We’ve travelled through many countries and all around the US and this house was fantastic. The attention to detail regarding comfort and supplies went beyond. Marie, who greeted us was welcoming and had lots of info on the area. The house is in the middle of the countryside with a sheep farm across the road. I loved waking to the sounds of the sheep, watching the lambs and soaking in the peace and quiet of the country. The location was perfect. 10 minutes to Westport, close to Galway and Sligo up the road about an hour (longer really with all of the stops to take in the scenery). Can’t recommend this place enough!

Simply put…. Definitely the only place to stay in Mayo!!! We will certainly return to Teach Mo Chroi

Absolutely the best property in the West of Ireland. A warm and cozy property well worth your attention. If you’ve ever been to Ireland, you’ll understand the importance of a warm, cozy house. Teach Mo Chroi’ is exactly what you’re looking for. From booking through check out everything was perfect. More room than you could ever need. Both US(110) and EU(220) power will fulfill all your needs. 3 full bathrooms will ensure no waiting for the facilities when needed. Can’t wait to return!!!

Wonderful location. Problems with toilet drainage an ongoing issue not stated in advert

Lovely location well stocked but much of the furniture tired and uncomfortable ( not beds) need upgrading. Local hostess very helpful! Would not have booked had we known of drainage issues…odour and bowl emptying issues in one bathroom. Having said all of that…we had a lovely stay and the grandchildren loved garden and local area…feeding the local donkeys carrots on a regular basis!

I'm not sure where to start, but I guess I should start by saying with over 70+ reviews to our credit this is the only one who's given us a poor score. This guest was trouble from the start. As a reasonably priced rental, which sleeps 12 adults comfortably, we cannot be compared to a 5 star hotel with massive conference facilities and a 24/7 concierge service, but that is unfortunately exactly what took place. I have always advertised the property exactly as it is with photos to support the accommodations on the website. This guest started by not reading any of the documentation she was required to read. She removed furniture from every room in the house and left them in disarray. If the toilet had an odor it was likely a "deposit" left by one of the occupants as we've never had this complaint before. I hope you will read on for our past reviews and take this review with a large grain of salt!

Country home, a short drive from town

This is a large and comfortable home a short drive from Westport and the village of Cong. We enjoyed exploring the area. We took a fabulous bike ride along the Greenway trail and went to the Ballintubber Abbey that’s just down the way, as well as Ashford castle for tea. Marie, the housekeeper who was in charge, was super friendly and helpful, leaving us flowers and checking in a couple of times to make sure things were going well. One of the nice things about the house is that there is a view of Croagh Patrick from the sliding door window in the kitchen we could see the pilgrim trail in the distance. There’s also a great looking swing set for those with kids.

good stay

Pros; Large rooms,lots of space, good mattresses, fan available, 110 volt in hallway when transformer turned on, sunsets over mountains from back. Cons; master bed very high,hard to climb into, master bath sink mini but sink in hallway bath right outside door, dirty pan in oven, surges of hot water in shower, very very narrow road leading to house- we scratched up rental. Luckily we never had opposing traffic as there was no room for another car.

I have a lot to say. Firstly we have a hostess who meets our guests with their keys and gives them an overview of the house. Sharon outright refused to meet with her. Saying she didn't need ANY help but then proceeded to phone our hostess numerous times for operating clarifications after the keys were left in a hidden spot for her to gain entrance. As for the bed, there are a total of 7 beds to choose from in 4 bedrooms 5 of which are USA Queen beds or larger. If the bed was too tall for her we provide a stool which can be used by any of our shorter guests. If she had allowed the walk through she would have learned this among other things. Never in 15 years has this ever been a complaint. Yes, the ensuite sink is smaller than the the others which was necessary when we remodeled the bathroom to accommodate a seated shower for any older guests. As for the dirty pan in the oven, it is actually a drip tray, and not intended to be used as a pan, we have a large variety of those, and the tray was covered in foil since several previous guests had left it with burned on residue unable to be removed. Finally, the road into our property is called a Boreen which is explained in our description on the website as a tiny One-Lane road. If you're a poor driver and veered outside the tire lanes it's feasible but still unlikely you could scratch your car with the greenery either side of the road. I visited the house directly after their departure and drive an SUV with no problems at all.
