Enjoy breathtaking views, privacy and tranquility at our beautiful lake cabin. Imagine sitting on the large deck overlooking the water while listening to loons and drinking your morning coffee. Or fish right off the end of 2 large docks in the evening. Whatever outdoor adventure you seek, you will find it here. Kayak and SUP available for use. It is a 2100 square foot cabin with 2 - 50' long docks, and 5 acres of your own private land.
If you want seclusion and great fishing from the docks and nearby-this is your spot on Lake Vermillion. Located about 3-5 minutes by an easy boat ride from Glenwood Lodge.

This was our 3rd year coming to Shangri-La, and we enjoyed another wonderful stay. A beautiful location, comfortable cabin, and excellent owner to deal with! Love the beach area especially, so beautiful and relaxing.

Island retreat

Thank you for a wonderful week at your gorgeous cabin. Mitch accommodated us at the last minute and the cabin was amazing. We enjoyed a week stay. Great fishing, comfortable accommodations. We loved bonfires, fishing from the dock, and relaxing in the cabin.

Paradise Island

The peace, beauty, and tranquility we found on our vacation at the property were unmatched. It’s such a beautiful setting. Everything you need to feel like home away from home. The location just spoke to my photography loving soul. It’s the perfect location to immerse yourself and family in nature. And the fishing is nothing to scoff at either.
You can’t beat a beautiful sunrise on the water.

Awesome place!

House was well cleaned and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable 2 week stay. The house was also a short distance from the lake which made it easy for getting supplies from the boat to the house. The beach area was great for the kids and the dock fishing wasn't bad. We already booked another 2 weeks for next year.

Shangri-La says it all!

Amazing location, comfortable & well appointed cabin, and great hosts! Our family enjoyed a wonderful week of swimming, boating, grilling, kayaking, bonfires, listening to the loons, and enjoying the breezes! The puzzle under the coffee table is a great one. We appreciate being dog friendly, it is hard to find such nice accommodations that allow dogs. We loved every minute of our stay!!

Honeymoon getaway

This place was absolutely beautiful. Nice quiet getaway with a beautiful view. I would recommend bringing bottled water and there is no ac. Mitch was great about communicating and answering questions timely. Billy and his staff were amazing as well. Always making sure we had everything we needed to make our stay amazing.

Pine Island Paradise

This was our 2nd stay at Shangri-La, and we enjoyed a wonderful stay with some family. Cabin is very comfortable, and had everything we needed. We made lasting memories again with family swimming, kayaking, bonfires, boating, grilling, and enjoying the nature on our favorite lake! The large lot is nice, as you don't have neighbors too close, and certainly no traffic noise, just the loons that live nearby! Mitch is a great host, and Glenwood Lodge is very close with boat launch and parking.

We had a great week at Mitch’s cabin. Our family rents a cabin every summer and this was tanks very high on our list of best places we have stayed! All the comforts of home and one of the best rental kitchens in the most beautiful and peaceful locations! My son and husband are big fishermen and caught lots of fish . The area around the cabin are excellent for using the kayaks and paddleboards. The folks at Glenwood lodge were super friendly and helpful and Mitch was very quick to respond when we had a question or needed something. We also appreciated being able to bring our dogs and have our entire family together!

Relaxing Island Retreat

Had a wonderful annual holiday with friends. If we weren’t hoping to add another couple next year we would book same again but we need a second shower with more people. The house is spacious and homey and kitchen had everything we needed to cook fish all week. Docks are well maintained and porch and fire pit area were well- enjoyed. We even took the kayak and paddle board for a spin. It was really hard to leave!

Had issues with many window screens missing holes or windows we could not open to let in cool air at night. It was warm and AC would have been preferred. Front door screen door was damaged upon arrival. Door would stay latched closed when windy and top closure mechanism was messed up. Door would fly open at times and nothing we could do about. Owner did not provide number to call them either to report.Serious safety issue with deck boards rotted off by front door and about to break off. Deck railing very loose and not much holding it on or someone leaning into and falling off the deck.

In 5 years, we have never a had a less than 5-Star rating for a reason-we are sorry your review is a rather mediocre one. We were just at the cabin for 2 weeks prior to your arrival. We opened every window, and saw no signs of any screen damages (holes) while there-before your arrival. Had we seen these, we would have immediately addressed them. Your issues will be inspected this weekend, and if I find any validity to any of them, they will be addressed immediately. I would say that our deck railings are not meant for people to be leaning on with all of their weight. But, this will be evaluated as well. We do provide internet access for all of our customers, and this you were aware of. I wish you would have sent us a message on VRBO, and we could have talked about your issues, and had them addressed while you were there. Also, you and all of our guests are well aware we have no air conditioning. This is a somewhat remote getaway located on an island in Northern MN where we do not normally have too many hot evenings. Therefore, the need for air conditioning is not warranted, and we do have ceiling fans and fans for such evenings in every room.

Paradise

We stayed in the island cabin for 2-weeks with our dog. The whole process was easy- even for staying on an island! We parked at Glenwood lodge, Billy is the best, and left our truck and trailer there. It was nice to know that wasn’t something we had to worry about. Fishing was phenomenal- caught many fish right from the dock. At night, we use the precut wood for bonfires and cooked our meals on the provided grill. If the mosquitoes were to bad, we were able to retreat to the 4-seasons room and chill. Overall, 5-stars! We would definitely stay again!

Great location with perfect swimming

We really enjoyed our short stay at this property. Excellent swimming, my kids loved it. The home was clean, private and had all the necessary kitchen items to cook just about anything. Mitch was very quick to respond with any questions we had. Thank you!

Wonderful stay!!!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful property!!! Everything was perfect! The house is beautiful and very clean. Plenty of room for our family to be very comfortable and to relax. The location is very quiet and peaceful. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit in the evenings and the great view of beautiful sunsets. The fishing was great during our stay despite a few rainy moments. It was great to have such a comfortable home to return to and wait out the rain. The well supplied kitchen is large with plenty of room to enjoy family meals. Bedrooms were good sized with very comfortable beds! Our entire family loved this home and are already asking to return next year. Mitch was great at responding to all my many questions and ensuring our family had an amazing stay. We highly recommend staying at this property if looking for a beautiful and relaxing stay on the lake. I can’t say enough about how wonderful our experience has been. We will be going back next summer without a doubt!!! Thank you Mitch!!

Lake Vermilion Gem

This beautiful vacation home on Lake Vermilion provides outstanding lodging for a boating or fishing trip. The cabin is spacious and provides all the comforts of home. It is located on a very scenic and peaceful portion of the lake. The two large docks allow for easy boat access. Mitch, the host, was very helpful as was the staff at the nearby Glenwood Lodge. This property is an excellent choice for anyone seeking top-notch accommodations for a Lake Vermilion vacation.
