Water Trough HIll is located 3 Miles from Lexington, 4 miles from Buena Vista and 5 miles to the Virginia Horse Center. Guest favorite for a large open spacious house with amazing views and photography of wildlife. A sanctuary for many animals and adopted wild mustangs. Come relax and enjoy your surroundings and if you have the time, schedule to meet the mustangs on Water Trough Hill. There is a extra Guest fee after 4 Guests of $50 per night. The house will comfortably sleep up to 11 guests.

Family wedding weekend

Very comfortable house, in a beautiful location. The house is exactly as shown in the photos. The bedrooms are very large, with comfortable beds. There were 8 adults in our group, 4 couples and there was plenty of space for all of us.

Perfect Stay

Everything about this stay was excellent. From the communication with Stephanie before arriving to the cleanliness and thoughtful touches of the home to the beautiful views - it was a wonderful place to spend Thanksgiving! (Stephanie even brought over fruit, milk, and ice - so lovely!) The home had everything you would need and more! The kitchen was very well stocked with everything to cook a big Thanksgiving meal! Stephanie had all the basics in the bathrooms, plus extra toothbrushes and razors if you forgot yours. The towels and blankets were soft and plush. It was the best place to relax, get comfy, and enjoy family time. It is a little over an hour from Monticello, about 25 minutes from the natural bridge, and 5 minutes from downtown Lexington. Make time to visit downtown while you are there. The town is cute, the shops are great, and be sure to visit TAPS. It is a classy and fun hangout. I hope we can visit again!

Beautiful Views!

Our favorite feature of this house is the beautiful views from all windows. The rooms are spacious and clean. The house is well-stocked with toiletries, kitchen and laundry products, thick towels, etc. - more than other places we’ve rented. Stephanie is a pleasure! We were seeking a quiet week of relaxation, and this rental was perfect for that. But, there is much to do in the area and plenty of space for children to play inside or outside.

Wedding weekend trip

Stephanie was a great host, always available and so kind. The house was very convenient to the wedding location and the Lexington area for exploring. Everyone enjoyed the house!

Enjoyable stay!

Host is wonderful, considerate, very helpful & friendly. Provided fresh fruits, cake, milk, coffee, etc. for breakfast. Loved meeting her horses too. Home is spacious, well supplied with linens & toiletries. Location works well, is near Lexington, Buena Vista & major roads. Highly recommend.

Amazing property

It was an amazing property. Stephanie greeted us when we got there and showed us around the home. It was a peaceful location and had amazing views of the mountains and we had a family of 8 deer wondering around the property at different times of the day. Stephanie was even nice enough one evening to take us down to see her horses and explain things about them. Was close to VMI and we will definitely stay again

Generous Host; Lots of Room

This rental has everything you need - from a well-appointed kitchen, lots of linens, supplies of all kinds including toothbrushes, shampoos and soaps, to breakfast items and extra ice. It is a sprawling house with a lot of room to spread out. A large, enclosed back porch is a great place to visit and take a nap. There are several areas on the property to set up yard games. Highly recommend.

Water Tough Hill

The house accommodated our family of 7 as we were in town for my nephew's wedding. There was MORE than enough room.. I was the florist for the weekend - and having access to the screened porch, the large kitchen with work island and long dining table - made my work so easy. The views back porch for sunrise, front porch for sunset - were spectacular. Stephanie was immediately helpful every time I needed a local suggestion - whether it was food, grocery store or local greenhouse for additional materials for the wedding. We are already planning a return visit in the fall just for relaxing!

Great Place in Great Location

Stephanie was excellent in keeping in touch, answering questions, and went above and beyond in preparation for our stay. A few snacks were very welcome and she was very responsive on some minor issues after arrival. We did not use the patio (front or back) during our stay due to the heat but was a nice space. There is plenty of space to park and the location is excellent for access to Lexington. We would definitely request to stay at Stephanie's in the future for a large group.

Absolutely fantastic!!

We arrived and our host took us on a tour of the home. She had milk in the fridge for us which was incredibly sweet. The kitchen has everything you need and is spacious. The house is spacious enough for a family to spread out. Views are beautiful! Host is absolutely fantastic!!!! You will absolutely love your stay. Can’t wait to come back!

Guys Motorcycle Trip

Our annual motorcycle trip to Lexington,Va and we decided to look for other options besides a hotel. We found This Property and booked it. All of the guys loved it. It was perfect, everything we needed. And Stephanie the property owner was THE BEST! She had suggestions and provided all of the items guys would forget. Best Trip Ever! Thank you VRBO and more importantly to Stephanie who made our trip Awesome.

Washington and Lee event

We were in town to watch our daughter's tennis team play in an invitational that was being hosted by W&L University. The house is out in the country with a stunning view, but was still close to the campus which made it very convenient to travel back and forth for the matches. We stayed with another family and the house was spacious with plenty of privacy with 4 full bathrooms. The entire house was conveniently stocked with linens and extra amenities. Stephanie was a gracious host and responded promptly whenever I had a question. We would definitely stay here again if our travel needs ever bring us back to Lexington!

Quiet and beautiful

Surrounded by mountains and quiet. Easy access to Lexington. Stephanie is very easy to work with. Easy access to the Blue Ridge parkway. Overall beautiful place to stay.

Best Thanksgiving Ever

The mountain views are amazing. Capture the sunrise and sunset from front and back porches. Visit the beautiful mustang horses at the barn. Enjoy fun dinners with family at the large dining room table. Snuggle up in the living room to watch a show or play cards and board games. Take long walks along the Chessie Trail just 5 minutes away. Or venture out for an amazing hike on any of the numerous hiking trails in the area. Stephanie, our host, is terrific and so welcoming and engaing.

Definitely a Room with a View

Great house. Views for days. Had daily visits from the local wildlife (deer) in the yard. They were beautiful. Easy in and out to Lexington and other points of interest. Stephanie was great. Will come back when we can.

Wedding Weekend

Stayed at the lovely property for my daughter's wedding. The house was perfect and so inviting, we felt right at home the moment we stepped in. Stephanie was such a joy to deal with and even gave us a tour of her horse stables. Communication was just so easy with her and she came herself to welcome us all. You wake up in the morning to deer in the front yard. which is so wonderful to see them grazing on the acorns. The view of the home is breathtaking from all sides of the home! I most certainly will be coming back for another stay!

Peaceful Retreat Minutes from Lexington

Our stay was amazing. The location, property and house are great; spacious, comfortable and it feels like home. A short jaunt to Lexington. As a host, Stephanie is fabulous. Everything you could think of was provided and even things you wouldn't think of but end up needing. Communication was superb. We will definitely stay here when we come back to Lexington.
