Resting on a hilltop above the coveted Covered Bridge Road, Alces Lodge is conveniently located to town and to all the natural treasures this corner of Vermont has in store. The famed “Emily's Bridge” is just a moment away—an iconic covered bridge known for its beauty and tall tales of its ghostly past, and lesser known for the refreshing summer swimming hole that lies beneath. The Pinnacle, Kirchner Woods, and Sunset Rock are all nearby for hiking and exploring any time of the year.
Inside, this beautiful home sleeps up to 12 guests comfortably with five bedrooms, a bonus room, and six-and-a-half baths. Living space is just as ample with a lofty living room, a great room flanked with sun-filled windows, and a cozy den—each with a fireplace for comfort and ambiance. The massive kitchen is the heart of the home and built for gathering. Features include high-end appliances, a large island with seating for five, and a farmhouse dining table fit for the whole crew. Throughout the home, plentiful windows frame the mountain views and let in loads of natural light, handsome hand-hewn timbers and stonework are balanced with classy furnishings and neutral wall colors. Tasteful Vermont accents are noted throughout including pottery lamps, vintage artwork, and modern fixtures. The bathrooms boast beautiful tile and glass work. A bonus mud room is roomy enough for all your gear.
Outside, the view from the back terrace looks toward the Worcester Range and the Pinnacle hiking trail, while the front of the house looks toward Mount Mansfield (especially in the winter!). The expansive lawn is open and sunny and bordered by mature trees—ideal for fun and games, there is even a pickleball court! Stonework, a split rail fence, and a covered porch with rocking chairs rounds out the quintessential Vermont feel.
