Mt. Rainier/Crystal Mt. rural cottage retreat
Stick & Stones Farm stay designed for comfort, convenience, and ambiance. Located 27 miles from Crystal Mountain Ski Resort, numerous equestrian venues and trails, and minutes to most attractions, the Cottage is renovated 100 year old home in the foothills of the Cascades and Mt Rainier. The views are sublime.
And, we can accommodate those traveling with horses.
This is not a party house, but rather a place to enjoy and appreciate getting away. There is plenty of internet speed, but no tv.
The space
The Cottage has two private bedrooms with real queen beds and new mattresses. The master features an organic latex, wool, and bamboo mattress from 45th St. Bedding. It's the best there is. The second bedroom has a new hybrid mattress. If you need an extra bed for the kiddos, we'll provide a queen sized air mattress and linens at no extra charge, if requested in advance. There is also a comfy couch.
The wood fireplace will warm you in the winter and the new Mexican tile bathroom is big enough to share with a friend or child. There is a covered porch next to the hot tub, where you can enjoy amazing views. Smoking is permitted outdoors.
The cottage is pet friendly. We love dogs and we know you do too. We ask that you inform us of any pets that will be staying with you, and we don't accept pit or pit mixes. Dogs and cats must be crated when left alone in the cottage.
The compact but fully equipped kitchen has a full sized fridge and freezer, a range with double oven, and everything you need from silverware to condiments to ice.
There is also outdoor wash sink with hot water, and heavy duty washer and dryer. We even provide the detergent and dryer sheets. You'll have plenty of dry towels and more if you need them. Your skis, snowmobiles, bikes, or horse trailer will be safe well away from the road.
We'll give you a gate code, wifi password and it's all yours to enjoy. We know privacy is essential to a great stay.
For horses, we have separate private pasture, and currently, only trees for shelter, but they work. We hope to have permanent shelters soon. We can accommodate several horses for short stays - fewer for longer stays. If you need something, let us know. Details depend on circumstances, so contact us, and we'll figure it out. Our turn-around is big enough for larger rigs, providing safe loading.
Lastly, we are about reducing, reusing, and recycling. To the greatest extent possible, we have used salvage or used
materials in our renovation. The plumbing however, is all new.
The kitchen counters came from a bowling alley, and the cabinets from a tare-down in Seattle. Exterior vinyl siding was removed to expose the original cedar shakes. To repair to the shakes, patches were salvaged from other outbuildings. The original stone and lumber came right off the property. Some came from Second Use or Habitat for Humanity Store. The leaded glass doors, among other things, were found locally. The art was my Dad's.
You won't need plastic bottled water because our well water is snow melt straight of Mt. Rainier. We sit atop The Boise Creek Aquifer. It's the best water you've ever tasted right out of the tap.
We strongly discourage the use of single use plastics, so we'll provide full sized versions of things like shower gel, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, water bottles and the other stuff that doesn't need to add weight to your luggage. Special requests will be accommodated if possible.
Of note, there' no TV. Cell service is scant to none, but Wi-Fi is available and speeds are fast. There is TV service available for longer stays.
The only thing I suggest you bring, is a Bluetooth speaker if you want music.
RV parking is plentiful and well off the road. there is a coded gate entry for security.
For guests staying over 30 days, we require a minimum semi-weekly housekeeping at an additional charge. Please inquire for details.
Guest access
Guests park well off the road behind gated entry. Vehicles cannot be seen from the road.
Other things to note
We welcome children of all ages, but they must be supervised as there are dangers inherent to being on a farm.
