Very cute. I didn’t realize it was off a dirt road and super rural but the inside was very cute and modern. Beds were good. Overall really liked it just didn’t realize it was so rural and off a long 3.5 miles of dirt road.

We were in the area for my son's wedding at Chrisman Manor and were so happy to have found the Strawbale house. The property is beautiful, quiet and so serene. It could not have been more perfect! This is a beautifully equipped/furnished, very spacious house. Three bedrooms plus the loft was separated into two different sleeping spaces for privacy. We only had 7 people sleeping overnight, but my son and his groomsmen got ready here and had plenty of space and bathrooms for all. The beds were very comfortable with lots of blankets and pillows and very comfortable mattresses. Annie has really thought of everything in furnishing this home with a full laundry, toiletries in the shower, plenty of towels, dishes, iron/steamer, games, etc; everything you can think of and more. Each floor/area has its own thermostat, which was wonderful especially for the third floor. Great TV and game rooms in the basement was fun for football night. I wish we could have stayed longer and I would highly recommend the Strawbale House if you are ever in the area.

Very clean! Great space. I would highly recommend this place. Annie was friendly and accommodating. The kitchen was so well stocked. Lots of space to spread out!

Charming Property

What a great house and surrounding property. Everything we needed was there, all the bed and bath linens were soft and the house was super clean. We loved every minute of being there.

Great Respite

We were in the area for a basketball and the Meadow house was an excellent place to unwind away and rest between games. I will definitely look at renting this property again.

Strong straw smell. Didn’t see in details of house that interior walls were made of straw. Also had some difficulty with air conditioning in master room. Had to shut off other vents to get some air to come in that room. Was very prompt to get back to us with problem and even sent someone out the next day.

This house was amazing, so much space, so tastefully decorated, so quiet. My friends and I didn't want to leave and said they had more fun staying here than when we stayed in Quebec City last summer. It was a lot of fun to watch hawks and deer from the deck, as well as play vintage arcade games in the basement on hot afternoons.

It was clean and Annie the host was very friendly and helpful. I felt with the open stairways it would've been nice to have a couple of baby gates. I think a firepit outside would've been nice and a few more lawn chairs would've been nice. I do however that they should have people use Google maps to give them directions. My GPS took me to 35th st. That road was washed out and very narrow. Google maps had us turn onto 46th St. which was a much better road. I did kind of think the location was very isolated and off the beaten path.

Nice Country Stay

Great house with lots of room. Games for teenagers and nice appliances and well maintained. The host was great and very quick on responses. If ever in the area again we will definitely stay there again. It was cool checking out the unique house.

Friends

Enjoyed our stay. We have a group of 4 couples that stay close to Perry Lake every year. We played Foosball, ping pong, corn hole and created our own par 3, four hole golf course. We had no issues with the property.

Family Christmas Gathering

We were so impressed with this property, we are trying to come up with an excuse to stay again! The property was amazing and perfect for a family Christmas. We cooked Christmas dinner and did our Christmas baking together. The kitchen was VERY WELL equipped with top notch appliances and stocked with all the basics a much more. Annie, the property host was very responsive and accommodating. Our stay was perfect in every respect.

Total Relaxation

The house is in the perfect setting to get away and just be! Our family came to enjoy some college football. After the game, we returned to the house and played games, watched movies, read, and had supper. The beds were comfortable, there was plenty of space to be, and everything mentioned in the listing was as advertised. We had an amazing time and look forward to the possibility of staying here again! Thank you!!!

Amazing Property

The property was perfect for our weekend wedding. The venue was only 6 miles away in Oskaloosa. Everyone was pleased with the amenities of the house. We were all intrigued by the straw bale architectural design. The only drawback was my daughter’s allergies kicked in.

Awesome place for a family!

Everything was really great. The house was clean. Check in was a breeze. The game room downstairs was a hit with everyone…we had a ping pong tournament. Waking up to deer in the field was nice. And the host was very responsive. My sister-in-law left her glasses, and the host is mailing them to her. Just tremendous service all around. We’ll definitely go back in the future.

Cool, unique place in a quiet country setting

This house worked perfect for our our group of five but easily could have accommodated many more with its three main bedrooms and third floor with two queen and two single beds. It was exactly as it appears in the listing. The house is big and spacious and very unique with its straw bale construction. We had everything we needed and enjoyed just hanging out and playing games. We highly recommend this house.

WARNING: Owners give excessive claims!

I was having a pleasant experience. We cleaned the property right before checkout to make sure everything was in order. 1 week later, I receive a charge of almost one thousand dollars! They gave beyond excessive claims for "damages". Please be very careful with these hosts. I hope no one goes through what they are currently putting us through. Please look for other properties in the area; I'm sure you'll find a better dollar value as well!

We've never encountered this situation before where the property has been left in such disarray, and this is the first time we've ever kept any of the security deposit from a guest. Our cleaner has been with us for a long time now, and she also has never seen the property treated like this. Unfortunately, because of the amount of damage done to furniture, and the amount of linens that were ruined, we had to deduct from the security deposit to help cover the cost of putting the property back into service for future guests.

Amazing Getaway to the Kansas Countryside

The property is breathtaking, comfortable, incredibly spacious, and just so well-equipped. The fact that it is a strawbale home makes it all the more interesting. We loved the many photos, prints and maps, representing Kansas and the area. The space allows you to choose to cozy up in the den, spread out across 4 floors or take in the greatness of the open space surrounding, from one of the decks. We had a few friends join for a brunch. The open kitchen/living space lends very well to this type of gathering. If it were a little warmer, we would have spent more time on the sunporch and grounds. Another visit! All ages enjoyed the basement game room. Many rounds of ping-pong and foosball were played! Honestly, it was difficult to leave the peace and quiet on the day we checked out. The aesthetics were so pleasing and inviting. Despite the fact that we live just 20-30 minutes away, we will be back. Highly recommend!
