Three adults came the third week in October for hiking and painting during peak fall color season. The cabin was spacious, good looking and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub, sauna and just looking at the attractive grounds around the cabin. Palenville is well situated near hiking trails and small towns with restaurants (the cabin has a full kitchen—we simply chose not to take full advantage of it).

Our stay at Starry Pines was very nice. The décor was charming shabby chic, and the space was comfortable and inviting. Our hostess was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and welcoming, making us feel right at home. We truly enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return!

Everything was perfect. We didn't get to use the wonderful outside amenities due to our schedule, but they looked amazing. Alicia was a great communicator. We would use again if we are up this way.

Beautiful place!

Our family loved our stay at Starry Pines. The location was so peaceful and we loved relaxing in the hot tub and spa. The hosts were fabulous!

The cabin was lovely and cozy, with a really well stocked kitchen! We made a great meal, and enjoyed the games and movies provided in the living room. The proximity to Rhinebeck was awesome for exploring. The hot tub wasn’t working super well, but that’s probably an easy fix for the future!

Great place. We would love to come again

We were so close to our event and it was very easy to get to. Our host are wonderful and made our stay super easy. Lovely little cottage.

Our hosts were great—responsive and helpful. The cabin was in a very quiet, peaceful, and serene location. We could see the stars at night and hear the bird song in the morning.

Our stay was cut very short due to personal circumstances. As a result, we didn't use the beds, the shower, the tv, the sauna, the hot tub, etc., and so can't comment on those things. Alicia was very pleasant to interact with and also very responsive. The cottage was clean, roomy, and well furnished. Furnishings were a bit dated, however. The cottage is across a driveway from Alicia's busy house and so the location was not as quiet and secluded as we prefer even though the noise levels were as reasonable as one could expect in a small neighborhood.

We visited Starry Pines for a winter weekend getaway. The cottage was very charming and cozy, and the host was very communicative. Good kitchen and a wide selection of movies and books. Only downside was pellet stove used to heat the bedroom varied greatly in temperature.

Cozy little cottage!!

This place was everything we had hoped for!! We came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and we could not have found a better place. The host was amazing and the property was awesome!! We will definitely be coming back!awesome!! We enjoyed everything

Amazing Location, Incredible Host, Unbeatable Stay

We came up here for an extended weekend getaway and couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. The location really is 15 minutes away from everything! From skiing to restaurants and bars you can find everything just a short drive away. And while you stay at the property, the amenities are awesome and everything is clean and works well! The hosts are incredibly kind and I can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay.

Great location in the Catskills

Cabin was cute and in a great location to explore several of the small towns in the Catskills. Very close to the Kaaterskill waterfall/hiking trail! Host was very nice and concerned for our comfort (we happened to be there during an extreme heat wave).

House was very cute, bed was comfy. It would have been nice if our parking spot and walk from the car to the house were shoveled at any point, the shower head was just awful, and the hosts were hosting an outdoor gathering which made us too uncomfortable to use the hot tub one night which was one of the main reasons we booked.

Thank you for the comments Remy. We did do a temporary fix on the shower head which needs replacing and that will be taken care of this week. Wish you’d have let us know as we could have expedited but didn’t want to disturb you. Also, I gave notice of the small gathering Sunday Eve upon check in, so you had an opportunity to raise any issues. You unfortunately left the cottage in the biggest mess and worst condition of any renter in 4 years of hosting. Dishes and trash everywhere. Tissues left on the floor. I cannot recommend you to other hosts unfortunately. Seems it wasn’t a match. Wish you the best.

Quiet, country setting.

Great neighborhood. Good for people that don't want to be way out in the woods. Was here for a family reunion and basically slept here. Would come back for sure.

Starry Pines Cottage

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Starry Pines Cottage. We were in the area to visit Levon Helm Studios for a couple of nights. Great communication with the hosts and they are a wonderful family. The cottage is in close proximity to their residence, but we felt like we had our privacy. Super comfy beds!

Nice little cabin

Cabin was nice & clean. Proximity of activities was nice. Sauna was a nice add on. Property a little too close to owner's home. Overall a good experience.

Great experience!

This cottage is a great little escape from the city! It was much larger than my NYC apartment so it was great to have all the indoor space amidst the beautiful surroundings of the area. Palenville is a cute little town as well. The cottage was super cleanly and had all sorts of nice touches and amenities. You’ll enjoy your stay here!

cute and clean cottage in great location

We really enjoyed our stay. Clean and comfortable. In a very walkable and interesting neighborhood, convenient to many hiking trails. Communication with property manager was delayed, but there were temporary, extenuating circumstances. Manager was helpful and apologetic regarding slight delays. (An outside floodlight was left on until 11PM -we like complete darkness,) We just missed the new outside sauna. That will be a really nice perk should we return to the area!

Thank you Mary Beth for your stay and compliments. As a parent to a toddler, it is not possible to always be reachable by phone for non urgent matters, particularly between the hours of 8-10pm (bedtime.) Had you communicated your need for absolute darkness in advance we would have accommodated this.

We came to the area for my husbands H.S. reunion and to visit with family. Charming little cottage. The wi-fi worked, but was a bit spotty at times because of the area. The TV was streaming services only, so if multiple people were streaming, it took a while to buffer content. It really wasn't much of an issue for us as we were out and about most of the time. The owners of the property live across the drive as stated in the listing, but they were actually away for a good part of our time there, so it was very peaceful and quiet. The hosts were very responsive to our requests both before and during our stay. We would most likely stay again if ever in the area as it was close to everything we were doing while there.
