The Puako Condominium is a well-maintained building on meticulously tended grounds of mature palms and plumeria, bougainvillea, bird of paradise, croton, papaya and banana.

This third-floor, newly renovated condo is perfect for two couples or a family of four on a budget. With with two bedrooms and two baths, living room and kitchen plus balcony lanai. The primary bedroom has an air conditioning unit.

A short walk to one of the few sandy beaches in Puako. It has plenty of shallow sandy bottoms which makes it a perfect place to launch a kayak or stand up paddleboard. It is also a great area for little ones to play around.

You will find this the perfect home base for getting to know Puako, its nearby beaches and the Island of Hawaii

Amazing vacation on Pauko Beach

Our stay here was amazing. The location is great. It has beach access across the street. There are also state beaches within a 5 minute drive. Close to many restaurants. Beautiful sunsets and whale watching. The condo is very well stocked with anything you could ever need. Beds are very comfortable! The staff was very helpful and friendly as well. Would definitely highly recommend!

Puako Dream condo

Our stay here was nothing short of amazing. I would love to keep this gem a secret for myself but that would not be fair to Mary, or the condo owner. We loved the location-- a small off the beaten path community right across from the water. We would walk across to explore the tide pools or to watch the sunset. It was close to amazing beaches but away from the chaos of a large resort. The condo had everything we needed, even travel mugs for our morning coffee. Beach chairs were also at the condo and even an umbrella which we appreciated. Mary helped us arrange groceries to be delivered before we arrived and that was wonderful after a long day of travel. The lanai was one of our favorite spots to rest, have a glass of wine, and chat before getting ready to go to dinner. We would return in a heartbeat.

Conveniently located next door to the Puako General Store and right across the street from a beautiful beach access. The beds were very comfortable, showers very large and great shower heads! Kitchen was well-stocked, and we lived the big granite island in the middle with stools, very fun! Wine fridge was awesome to have, maybe add champagne glasses and more stemmed wine glasses to inventory. Quiet location. We would stay again. Thank you 2 Papayas for your awesome services as always.

Would return in a heartbeat!

Puako Beach Condo #309 was the perfect spot for our trip. The condo is beautiful, spacious, and so well appointed. The view from the lanai was gorgeous, and the small condo complex is quiet and relaxing. Puako is convenient to amazing beaches and walks, but without the crowds of a resort. While not really a swimming beach, the beach is indeed right across the street - perfect for relaxing, watching the sunrise/sunset, or star gazing. The staff of 2Papayas were amazing - they communicated regularly, were flexible when our flight times changed, and were willing to have a local family member come early to drop off groceries for us. The condo was so well supplied (not always the case with rentals), and we were greeted with signature papayas and flowers. I particularly appreciated the elevator, ramped walkway, and close parking space as I was traveling with my elderly mother. (One small challenge was that the beds were high for her - but the condo was even appointed with a step stool!) Overall, one of my absolute best VRBO rentals!

Blissful stay in Puako

My friend and I had a wonderful week at a newly renovated condo. Located on a quiet street, in a quiet, well maintained complex, with easy access (10 minutes drive or less ) to Hapuna, beach 69, and Mauna Kea beaches. Mary and her crew at 2 Papayas were gracious hosts, receiving our groceries from a local market, a spotless condo, and special welcome gifts. I would book again with 2 Papayas for excellent service.

Great place and great location

The unit is fabulous. It is incredibly well remodeled and has lots of good stuff for guests. Mary and Sean were very helpful. Incredible snorkeling and shore diving are literally steps away. The ocean water is excellent. Could have stayed another several weeks. Unit only has AC in 1 bedroom so be prepared if staying in the summer.

Great location, great vacation

Had a wonderful time - apartment was maintained well and clean. Great view of ocean for both the bedroom and the living room. All utilities required to do basic cooking and having a meal were available. Mary was very welcoming and checked on us multiple times - both before arriving and after we had checked in to ensure that everything was in order. Good beaches nearby, restaurants are a bit of a drive, general store nearby is a tad expensive ... overall a great place at this price point.

Beautiful Place

The condo is in a beautiful location. It has ocean views from the living room and master bedroom. The condo was clean, well-maintained and well-equipped. 2 Papayas provided great service from our first inquiry through the check-out process. Puako is a lovely community. There is a wonderful general store next door to the property. Beach 69 and Hapuna Beach are near by.

A peaceful paradise!

See reviews prior to this - we agree with all the comments. We stayed 7 nights. The weather was all but perfect; just a bit warmish in late afternoon, but there was usually a moderate breeze, which made it tolerable. We didn't use the A/C at all, but had the fans on when it warmed up. Sitting out on the lanai and watching the ocean was one of our favorite things to do. That said, for a couple hours in mid-late afternoon the sun shines directly on the lanai and you might find it a bit too warm. Once the sun gets lower (this time of year, it sets almost straight out from the lanai) it's comfortable again. Note - the problems from the eruption at Kilauea are certainly serious, but the volcanic activity hasn't affected this part of the Big Island *at all*. If you go further south than Kailua-Kona, you may start running into vog (depending on volcanic activity, wind strength and direction) but the problems in the Puna district haven't been an issue at all near Puako. Don't be frightened away by overwrought media reports! We had a wonderful, wonderful time and will definitely check this unit's availability as our first choice on our next trip.
