Great property . As there was a grill on the property description and we were planning on using it, but when we arrived, there wasn’t one. Also, we did not realize that there was a top unit that was a part of the bottom unit. When somebody checked in upstairs, kids were running around all night and all morning which made it impossible to sleep . Also because the stairs from one bedroom lead up to the upstairs condo, you could hear people talking all night maybe you need to be a little more clear on that when people are booking.

We really enjoyed our stay at this condo. It was the perfect size for two couples to get some ski time in. We love that we can hop on and off the ski hill behind the house. Everything was clean and tidy.

The property was nice and great location. we booked thru VRBO but then the management company started to email me and wanted me to use their system. Confusing when you are familiar with the vrbo system. The unit was nice, would be great for skiing in the winter but in the summer, there is no thermostat to control the temperature. It is the walk out basement for the condo above. when we arrived. Boyne was coming off a very hot week the people in the condo above had the air very cold, basements are always colder and cold settles down so our unit was like a refrigerator. In the description it made it sound like there was a gas grill not the case. it's only if you rent the upstairs unit also. There is no information about the resort, it would have been nice because they had restaurants, Bars and a lot of activities for families to do.

Since the space is located below another condo, we understand how cooler air settling downstairs could make it feel much colder, especially after a very hot week. Grills are not permitted at Boyne condo units, so we’ll review the listing language to make sure expectations are clear for future guests. We also appreciate your note about resort information. Boyne offers restaurants, bars, and many family activities, and we understand how helpful it would be to have that information more visible in the unit. We’ll review how those details are provided so guests can better enjoy everything the resort has to offer. We loved the ski in ski out especially with little ones. The condo was clean and ready for us at 4. It’s small but worked well for 4 adults and 2 children. We will be back!

Great location

The property was a great location at Boyne Mountain. It was clean and comfortable. The only complaint would be the early check out time and the charge for an extra hour or 2.

Skiing weekend

Our family had a very nice weekend. It was clean and had great access to the ski hill. A tip for other renters would be: bring salt and pepper or other consumable cooking essentials. The kitchen had all the hardware, but it BYOS (seasoning).

Very dangerous walking up none of the snow and ice was cleaned especially right at the front door of the unitBut the worst part DO NOT STAY IN A LOWER UNIT LIKE I DID. THE CEILINGS ARE PAPER THIN, AND YOU CANNOT HAVE ONE MOMENTS PIECE FROM PEOPLE ABOVE YOU. EVERY STEP IS LIKE AN AVALANCHE COMING DOWN ON YOUR HEAD AND I AM NOT EXAGGERATING.. during my state there must’ve been 20 people in one unit above me and it did not stop all weekend. Tried calling management no answer.

On the snow and ice: the exterior walkways and entrances are typically handled by the resort/association, but that doesn’t change the fact that the area near your door should have been cleared and safe. We have reported this to the appropriate on-site team and will continue to escalate it because guest safety has to come first. On the noise: we understand how frustrating it is to be in a lower unit when the guests above are loud. If you’re a light sleeper, an upper-floor unit is often a better fit. We also want to clarify the communication piece so future guests know the fastest way to get help. This reservation was managed through our team, and we did not receive a call or message about the noise or the icy entry during your stay. It sounds like you contacted Boyne Mountain directly, so we weren’t aware of what was happening and didn’t have the opportunity to step in and assist in real time. In the future, please contact the property management number provided in your check-in information so we can respond immediately and coordinate with resort security or maintenance if needed. We appreciate you raising these issues, and we’re using your feedback to push for better ice mitigation and clearer guidance on who to contact for urgent concerns.

Family of four on the slopes

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Property as described, clean upon check in. Foosball / mini pool table was a hit with the kids (10 & 6). Kitchen clean and stocked with pots/pans, plates/bowls and utensils. Easy 100ft walk to Boyneland slope. We definitely enjoyed ourselves.Two small areas for improvement: 1. One of the legs of the living room table is broken, held together with wire. Was not stable.2. The roof rain gutter drips right onto the patio and front door. Impossible to get into and out of the condo without getting wet.

Don't waste your money

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We rented this condo for 3 nights. It's in a great location, and a nice size. The problems though start when you try to use the furniture. The Foosball table is taped together so we were afraid to play the additional games included. The coffee table leg is broken and wired together making it impossible to move without fear of breaking it further. Even the small wooden game board had a broken case. And then there is the noise from above. The condo upstairs seemed to be filled with parading toddler elephants. This wasn't normal walking sounds, it was all out foot races at all times of the day. I notified the property manager, and the party continued. I was layer told that they have no control over their tenants. If this is the case, then I would rather stay in a hotel where the managers actually care about the happiness of their renters. I later complained about the overall experience and was told that since I didn't take photos of the damaged amenities, and the behavior of their renters is not their responsibility, I would not be compensated in any way

Michigan is Beatufiul - This place needs a Bit More Cleaning

Rating Details: The property manager was very unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: I surprised my wife with a trip to Michigan’s beautiful shores. Initially we were going to take an RV, but at the last minute that wasn’t feasible so I booked this location for lodging. I was pleasantly surprised that the price was only $200 a night, as we were only staying for a few days, and thought we could save a few bucks. Man, was I mistaken.Make no mistake - Northern Michigan Escapes is going to get at least $1000 out of you, and very creatively. The fees are CRAZY, but quite frankly, I was OK with that because of the purpose of the trip. However, the fees are applied with no follow thru.Im going to focus on the cleaning fee, as it was the most egregious. If I pay almost $200 in“cleaning” I don’t expect to have to clean up the quarry of the local spiders in every room. I don’t expect to clean up mouse feces in the kitchen and living areas, and I certainly don’t expect to clean up pubic hairs in the shower, off the toilet and in the bathroom sink.I reached out to my “agent” about these issues, but I was completely ghosted once they had my money. Stay away from Northern Michigan Escapes.P.S. For context, I am writing this from a beachfront condo in OBX where every fee was less, and when I had a MINOR issue, Les came by, fixed the problem and came back with a “Hey, we’re sorry about that” gift bag.

Hi Eric, Every rental management company has fees. When you booked with us you agreed to those fees. If at anytime you were not pleased during your stay, you should have reached out to the Property Manager. We are unsure if you were "ghosted" since we are not in the business of "ghosting" our guests. If you had contacted our Property Manager over these issues they would have certainly tried to address any questions or concerns you may have had during your stay at anytime. Do note that you were staying in a condo on the lower level in the middle of the woods. Spiders and such are bound to happen. Again, if you had contacted the Property Manager, they would have certainly tried to address the issue for you. Obviously you were not satisfied with your stay and we do apologize for that. Perhaps we are just not a good fit for you and you should book through a different company next time. Sincerely, The Staff at Northern Michigan Escapes
