“DOME on the Hill” is a unique geodesic dome home which sits on 6.51 acres near Chillicothe in south-central Ohio. This 3200 sq. ft. home has 5 bedrooms, 3 ½ baths, 2 living quarters, dining area, huge kitchen, and laundry room. It was designed and erected near a major highway making it easily accessible to shopping, restaurants, and local attractions, yet it is completely private – nestled on top of a hill surrounded by trees. The large deck with patio furniture & lighted grill, 6-person waterfall hot tub, and fire pit with log benches add the final touches to this property, which is perfect for the nature lover, families and friends on vacation, those who need a work retreat, or the person who just wants some quiet time. “Dome on the Hill” is truly a secluded sanctuary. Charming and spacious!

Perfect spot for a writing retreat. Lots of indoor and outdoor spaces to work. Kitchen has everything for making meals together.

Girls Get-Away Weekend

This was the perfect place for our Girls Get-Away Weekend! Peaceful and relaxing! Close enough to food, shopping, and hiking but far enough out for nature and stargazing! Loved this beautiful and unique house and property!

Great Place

If you want a clean, quite paradise in Ross County, this is it. Melody was a great hostess. She had anything we would need in this house. Very clean. This is about 5 miles from Atomic Speedway.

Best Vrbo ever

I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful property and the amazing host. She met us at the door, walked us through the home and answered any questions we had. The property was even better than advertised, a truly unique and very comfortable home. If we have a chance to stay here again in the future, we absolutely will without a moment's hesitation.

Eclipse Weekend

We stayed at "The Dome Home" (as the kids called it) for the weekend on our way to see The Totality of the eclipse. A unique experience all around. Lovely hostess, clean home, beautiful property. We had a wonderful time.

Great stay in a very nice and interesting home

Seven of us, three generations had a great stay at the dome, such an interesting place, plenty of room for all of us to gather together as well as room for privacy, very neat and clean, well furnished, our five year old grandson wants to come back again soon, so do his parents and grandparents. The hostess was wonderful, couldn’t ask for anyone nicer or better,

Fantastic Oasis

This experience was all we could have hoped for. Lots of land for the kids to run around. A unique house that was fascinating for all of us. Nice hot tub. Very well equipped inside. It's hard to find anything even slightly negative to say about our experience. The place is secluded, but still not that far from downtown/services. My kids want to come back every year!

Unique getaway

Our family stayed at the DOME house and had a wonderful time! The house is so cool, inside and out - really a unique experience. The host Melody went above and beyond! We enjoyed hiking around the property, soaking in the hot tub, roasting hot dogs in the fire pit. The house is very spacious inside with tons of natural light. We had a terrific weekend and would recommend to anyone! Thank you Melody for everything!

Excellent getaway!! This home is so unique in design and comfortable!

This home was absolutely perfect for us! Each family had their own space/floor. The host is extremely sweet and accommodating. She made sure we had everything we needed; even had delicious warm brownies for us on our arrival. She met us there and showed us the house! The beds were extremely comfortable, everything was very clean. We had all the comforts of home. This home is so uniquely laid out. Looks smaller from the outside but very roomy inside. We are from 3 different states and this home was absolutely perfect for us. This home is definitely at the top of our destinations to get together again. We will definitely come again. Thank you, Melody for your hospitality.

DOME Time is the Best Getaway

Another fantastic long weekend at the Dome. Since our first stay in October 2023, we've made going to the Dome part of our busy work decompressing ritual. My wife and I, along with five other friends, were looking forward to another trip to the Dome as soon as 2023 served, and for good reasons. Melody is an excellent host who takes hospitality and comfort seriously. The Dome is always clean, well stocked, and comfy. You're simultaneously in the middle of nowhere but only 12 minutes from pizza & bowling. I can't recommend a stay here enough even if it might mean more booked-up weekends we can't stay at the Dome. You won't have a bad time!

Perfectly secluded and unique home

The dome is in such a perfect location, only 10 minutes from Chillicothe and only 7 minutes from great hiking in Scioto State Forest. The host is fantastic and goes well above and beyond to make your stay as good as possible

Beyond expectations!

We had a lovely stay at the Dome. Melody was a friendly, helpful host and I'm so glad we got to chat with her for a bit. The house is amazing. From the outside, it looks small, but it's huge! The layout took a little while to get used to, but that made it fun. The space was comfortable for me,my husband and our two boys. We enjoyed playing air hockey and games. I didn't expect the location to feel so remote, based on the proximity to 23, but it felt like we were in our own little world on top of the hill! Thank you, Melody (we appreciated the cookies, too!!)

Blown away by the DOME!

The DOME is such a unique property and made for a truly special weekend getaway for us! Melody is extremely kind and communicative, and the house is very well stocked with everything you might need. There’s tons of space for everyone inside, as well as a stunning yard that was full of fall color and a large patio deck to read, hang out, or just watch the sunset. We will absolutely be back!!

Beautiful Place To Spend A Weekend

Melody was very friendly and made sure we felt welcome and comfortable during our stay. The Dome is a very unique place to stay. The place is kept clean and stocked with many amenities. It sits up on a hill, secluded and surrounded by nature and makes for a great get away from the normal stresses of life.

The Dome on the Hill is the BEST!

The Dome on the Hill is the BEST place to stay! The owners are the most responsive and nicest people you could ever want to meet. The house is so unique and is so comfortable. When we booked we did not realize how many fun things were close to our home...from horse back riding to hiking to outdoor drama..anything you could possibly want. I will definitely be back to visit as there is so much to do we only touched the surface in the 5 days we were there. Thank-you so much for your hospitality, the treats and just everything...I feel like I have made a new friend!!

Perfect weekend getaway

The owner was extremely friendly and available. She brought us brownies and showed us around! The home was very clean and well stocked. The kids really enjoyed the air hockey table and having "their own" place to watch movies in the basement. One of my best VRBO experiences.

Outstanding place and host!!

We loved this very unique place. It was gorgeous and clean. We got to watch deer graze as we soaked in the hot tub at sunset. We also watched the clouds float over the moon behind the trees as we cuddled on the couch threw the triangle sky windows. The brownies that were left for us were amaxing while we enjoyed the many games that the house had to offer i cant wait to stay again. The host was so kind and very thoughtful.

Dome Sweet Dome!

This was definitely a 5 star experience for our entire family! The Dome is so unique and beautiful. It’s perfectly hidden at the top of a hill with lovely views. The new hot tub was a bonus and everyone enjoyed relaxing in it after all the wedding festivities. The entire place was immaculate and so inviting with a well stocked kitchen, lots of coffee choices and delicious treats! The hosts were amazing, responded quickly and we loved hearing about the history of the dome. We’re already thinking about when we can return for our next stay!

My name is Melody, and the DOME on the Hill is a family-owned property that was recently completely renovated and opened as a rental vacation home. All our family are Chillicothe natives. As for me, -- your host, I love music, jigsaw puzzles, & consignment shopping. I am a "people person", so I love meeting our guests and making sure their stay is everything they need and expect in their home away from home.

Nestled on top of a hill surrounded by nothing but trees, your neighborhood consists of maybe a few birds and the deer that cross through the field in the morning. The large yard is enclosed with a wooden fence and has a variety of trees and perennials around the property. Amazingly, being so private, our home is minutes away from a major highway and town, hiking trails, restaurants, and entertainment. The best of both worlds!

There IS no place like ours... period. There may be other domes, but this one was designed and built by an amazing engineer husband/wife team. The blueprints hang framed in the lower level, and a photo book lays on the coffee table which shows each step of construction. The house looks small from the outside, yet it is incredibly spacious inside. The unique structure allows loads of individual living and closet space, and fun, "unconventional" angled windows and walls. It's decorated with a "homey" atmosphere, with lots of color and comfort, and is meant to be lived in.
