Pleasant and comfortable stay

They are nice little cabins. Comfortable beds were greatly appreciated. Windows in every room lets the sun shine in and allows for great air flow. You'll have a view of the beach/water. Very quiet at night. Nice part of the lake and friendly family

Location was beautiful! Just a little uncomfortable for someone who is 6’ tall We had a great time there , and the owners were very helpful to us … We will definitely plan another stay here !

Rustic charm

A great place to stay. Super clean. It was tight with our dogs, but we were barely there, so it wasn’t a real issue. Loved being able to walk down to the water.

Winter vacation

Perfect Cabin for the 4th

We loved staying at Moose Cabin. Tom was so accommodating and we were even allowed to bring our pups, who loved staying up north and playing in the water. Perfect cabin with two bedrooms, fans, a shower/bathroom, coffee pot, fridge, and many utensils/cups/silverware etc. We appreciated how easy it was to check in/out and that the communication was top notch!

So much to love

There was so much to love about this property! The location was amazing and arrival and departure were so easy. I only wish that the TV worked a little better and that the shower was a little taller because, at 6'2" I had to bend over. Overall a great stay and I definitely recommend it.

Slept like a baby

This was my second stay at this resort while in town for business. Clean, cozy and the perfect amount of rustic. I am planning to bring the family up for a long weekend sometime this summer. Highly recommended.

2 night stay

Really wish the beach was bigger. They should warnyou how tiny it is. Everything else was perfect and great .

The beach front is a little bit larger than the actual sand beach area, but completely adequate to enjoy the lake. It is a nice shallow sandy area for kids to play and enjoy the water. The dock is on the RH side(as facing the lake) so we need to make room for everyone. Glad to hear your stay was perfect and great!

We had a blast.

We had gotten together for a wedding and then reserved all the cabins for our immediate family and we couldn't have had and better of a time. With our family, it is very hard because we all reside in different states. Thank you again for the time of our life.

Perfect for families

We stayed in the Moose cabin, it was clean upon checkin and had everything we needed. The area was quiet and peaceful. There were kayaks we could take out and boats that we could rent for the day. My three year old loved spending time at the little beach, both the water and the beach was clean. The location was a decent place to take day trips from, like Mackinaw, Petoskey, Traverse City and Frankenmuth. We decided that as long as this place stays open, we will make it our place to stay when we visit Michigan.

Tip up town Festival Fun

Overall stay in the Moose Cabin was great! Cabin was cute and comfortable! Maybe do away with large dressers in each bedroom and go with smaller night stands leave a little walking room on each side of the bed. Crawling over a bed mate isn't easy for us older guests. Lol But will definitely come again.

The Rustic Getaway

My wife and I wanted to get away from all the hustle and concerns from world we live in. Celebrating our 42 anniversary made a perfect excuse to get a hideaway for a few days. We really enjoyed all the little details in the cabin and it definitely felt like home away from home. We were slightly disappointed in sure every thing was like it was when we arrived. Wouldn't there be a cleaning staff for getting it all spiffy again? But we still took the time to do the full cleanup that was requested. Thanks we still had a great time!!

Fishing Trip

Overall I had a good time at the lake, The details were accurate about the cabin but something's that I wish we knew prior. Dock is only 1.7 to 2 ft deeps. If you don't have tilt you will bottom out which we did every time. extremely windy so fishing wasrough. Also TV is really tiny but it does work. Again just nitpicking but I really good experience not good

Cute little cabin with amazing hosts

The cabin was very clean. It had everything we needed. For a family of 4 with 2 little dogs, it was a little tight. During my trip I found out there is another property they own that is bigger so we may get that one next time. The beach was a little small but very easy access to the lake. My kids and dogs had a blast. The fishing boats are available for rent and we had a great time taking a ride on Houghton Lake. The other guests were very nice. Tom was amazing and extra flexible. We had a family emergency and not only was he very understanding, but he offered us a discounted rate to stay one extra day. He was awesome to deal with. It’s a very peaceful place with beautiful sunsets. Will definitely stay there again

2/10 Terrible

Unpleasant Stay

Misleading ad regarding accommodations. No real lake view and all are micro-cabins, not Full Size as advertised. Moose cabin: - Leaking bathroom sink drain flange - Poor bathroom sink drainage - Unsanitary/poor shower drainage. ( Grate is above drain grade) - Rusted out microwave - Cobwebs throughout - Massive accumulation of dead insects inside window sills - Beds extremely uncomfortable ( old and craters inwards w/2 people) - Unsafe dining table seats - Unsafe childrens swing ( can disconnect while swinging ) - Dog feces in guest pathway to lake - Unsafe electrical wiring ( numerous code violations ) - Very few basic ammentities provided This was a very unpleasant stay for our family of four. Couldn't wait to depart. Good luck on getting a response from owner if you have issues. Also, first thing guest see if they need to knock on landlord's door is a sign stating "No Refunds or Exchanges". Not a "cozy" place. Owners are interested only in taking your money and renting substandard property to unsuspecting guests. If you have standards and/or are claustrophobic, this isn't the place for you. Be prepared for swarms of insects as well. Didn't bother me too much but wife & daughter stayed inside most of the time because of them.

Sorry to hear of your unpleasant stay at Whitetail Family Resort. Cabins are 2 bedroom with a kitchen and living area, fully furnished. The cabin is literally 21 steps from the lake. The microwave has been replaced, now that the concern has been brought up. We use extension cords in the cabin to connect electrical items. They are no way unsafe or will cause any damage to the building or appliances. The cobwebs are on the outside of the windows and the dead insects being referred to are mayflies, as it is mayfly season in Norther Michigan, on the lake. All furniture is relatively new and still in excellent condition. The dining set is very functional and safe to use. This property is very functional, cozy, and enjoyable to experience the up north Norther Michigan living on the lake. The properties are pet friendly and we expect everyone to pick up after their own pet. We can not control the actions of others. We encourage pets and also encourage the clean up. If you need to contact the owners, we typically answer, but sometimes we have issues getting to the phone immediately, due to current business. We apologize for not getting back to you right away. We can be reached by phone call or text. We appreciate your feedback provided and hope that any future endeavors are an acceptable experience for you. We know that we provide an excellent cabin that shares the northern Michigan lake life and want to share this experience with everyone.
