For those of you reading this review, I hope you noticed that it is an anomaly among all of the other 5 star reviews of our home. Unfortunately our cleaning person's scheduling software glitched on her and messed up the dates she was supposed to clean before the next guest. When Jean and her family arrived, the house had not been cleaned and unfortunately the guest before her left the house a complete and total mess. That is the mess she describes in her review. We would NEVER leave the house that way for a guest intentionally. Jean called me right after she walked in and we immediately bent over backwards to correct the mistake and apologized profusely. I immediately refunded two nights of her 5 night stay. Our cleaning person found someone to watch her kids and came out with her mom and spent 4 hours cleaning up the mess and making the beds, etc. that night. Jean still wasn't happy so my cleaning gal went back the next day too. Jean's kids and grandkids told her the house looked great and they were having fun on the second day but Jean kept texting me complaining about things and asking for me to return the money for a third day, which we didn't think was necessary as she only had issues the first night. As for all of her complaints, apparently the breaker had been tripped by the previous guest for the refrigerator so that was an immediate fix and the refrigerator started working fine that night. I gave Jean access to a locked basement with an extra refrigerator just in case. A number of Jean's issues were due to the heat. That is not in our control and when I realized how hot it would be for their stay, I had ordered extra fans to put in rooms before they even arrived and talked to her about opening the windows at night and closing them in the morning. Most homes in Montana don't have air conditioning since it is rarely needed but I will now put on our listing that there is no air conditioning. For 20 years we have managed heat with the windows, but it rarely gets that hot. It was her choice not to use the upper bedrooms and the apartment over the garage due to the heat and when she told me everyone was moving to the downstairs floors I offered her two of our private air mattresses we had in the locked storage to use. Yes, one shower was broken. We had someone out to fix it before their stay and unknowingly he never finished and didn't tell us, otherwise I would have let her know ahead of time. Her review said 2 showers didn't work but that is not true. She had 3 showers that worked but she chose not to use the shower in the apartment. As for the toilets running, the handle just needed to be wiggled, but once she told me about the toilets running we had a plumber out to check everything and the shower is now fixed. Yes, after a summer of guests, the BBQ needed to be cleaned and a new brush purchased. That was a legitimate complaint but it is now fixed. Jean put the bathroom rugs in the washer and they fell apart and new ones were immediately purchased and brought to them right away, along with new sheets. The outdoor furniture was set up previously and cleaned the first night so that was a lie. The steps to the lower dock are slabs of rock and none of them are broken. There are native plants and flowers on both sides of the stairs, which I think are beautiful but she is just reaching for things to complain about. As for her saying a couple times about how expensive this house is, she had a party of 11. Putting 11 people in hotels would be a lot more expensive than this and with this house you have private lake access and a lot more amenities. We have been told we could charge a lot more, but we love this house and want to share it with people and keep it affordable. After her stay Jean tried to bribe us, saying either reimburse her a 3rd night or she would write a bad review. We don't respond well to bribery and as you can see, she followed through with her threat. She also doesn't mention all that we did to fix our error. Please don't pay attention to this one example of a stay and rely on all the other 5 star reviews that tell you what a beautiful and well stocked house this is.
