Welcome to When Pigs Fly – Your Gulf Shores Vacation Escape!

Enjoy the perfect mix of comfort and convenience at When Pigs Fly, a charming beach duplex located just two rows from the Gulf. With a private pool and stunning views, this home is ideal for a relaxing getaway. The exclusive pool can be heated from October through May for $60 per day and is fully fenced with gated decks, making it a safe space for pets. We welcome up to two dogs for an additional pet fee of $348.

Spacious Beach Duplex – Ideal for Large Groups
When Pigs Fly is a stacked duplex, meaning one unit sits directly above the other. Each floor features the same layout, but the upstairs unit offers a special perk—a Rooftop Crow's Nest with panoramic views of the beach and Little Lagoon.

This home is available as a full rental, except for January and February.
- 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms total (3 bedrooms, 2 baths per unit)
- Accommodates 12-16 guests (maximum of 12 adults)

- Spacious living area with French doors opening to a beach-view covered porch
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Large King primary bedroom with TV, private bath, and porch access
- Two Queen bedrooms
- Queen sleeper sofa (upstairs unit) & two Twin air mattresses available upon request (downstairs unit)

Located in West Beach, Gulf Shores, just 2.3 miles west of Hwy 59, this area is free from condos and crowds, with only four rows of houses between the Gulf and Little Lagoon. You'll be close to restaurants, shopping, a major outlet center, and local attractions, plus just a block from a great fishing spot.

Perfect for large families!

We had a wonderful stay! The house was bright, clean and spacious- and the location was great! We stayed for a week with a family of 10-( 7 adults and 3 children 8-12yrs.) The split levels were perfect for this! The carts and chairs in the shed made the short walk to the beach easy! Full kitchens, washer/dryer and dishwasher on both levels was a bonus!

Great rental!

Absolutely loved our stay at “when pigs fly”. The host was very responsive and the amenities were fantastic. The kitchen is very well stocked and the house was immaculately clean. We would definitely stay here again.Thanks for a great place to stay!

Great property!

Beautiful property and great location! Perfect for a large family vacation. We had an issue with the hvac system while staying and the property manager was extremely helpful and got the problem taken care of right away! The property was very clean. We loved our stay here!

Family reunion

We had a blast at this property. The pool was a great way to refresh during the day. The kitchens were well stocked and beds were super comfortable after a long day at the beach. Overall a wonderful stay! (The beach chairs/cart were a wonderful addition too!)

Family time

Very nice, wish the floors were connected so conversing with family members would be easier. We very much enjoyed our visit. The pool could be cleaned more often it was pretty dirty all week.

Girls Trip

We had a great time at When Pigs Fly! We had a group of 10 and had plenty of room, between the 2 duplexes. We had our trip scheduled in April 2020, but due to Coronavirus, we had to reschedule to May 2020. Susan and Geoff were SO accomodating and easy to work with during the process. The location was awesome!

Good large family vacation home.

This stacked duplex has the potential to be an amazing vacation home. Overall, it’s a great location and our family enjoyed it. The pool is a good size and nice depth for kids to play. However it was very dirty, the pool company came tossed some chlorine in and cleared the filter but never vacuumed. It really needs to be cleaned. The duplex is perfect for a large extended family, the upstairs sofa needs to be replaced. It is broken down and hard to get out of once you sit down. It is nice having laundry rooms in both units, kitchen and dining space was large enough for the whole family to enjoy.

Great place for large group

We vacationed with my sister’s family. Loved that we were together yet had our own space. Both units were very clean and we had plenty of space. I will say we were on the bottom and we could hear my sister’s family upstairs walking. Loved having our own pool. It was very windy and double red flags all week so less beach time so we spent lots of time at the pool. Each unit had wonderful decks to sit on with plenty of seating. The management team was very helpful. They had several beach items as well as a wagon which was much appreciated. It was a wonderful week overall!

Family vacation 2023

House was really nice and clean. Pool was a treat for the kids, just wish it would have been filled to the top. The walk to the beach was 7 minutes. After all week it was tiring walking there. Overall beautiful place. Only thing I would say is maybe more bath towels and kitchen. Tracy was wonderful and very helpful.

Great stay! Lovely property!

We reserved the full property (both upstairs and downstairs) for our group of 9 from June 10-17 Just the facts: 1) House was immaculately clean. 2) Easy beach access 3) Well furnished: comfy beds, plenty of outdoor seating, big TVs in living rooms and bedrooms 4) Pool was nice and warm without the heater 5) Extra refrigerator at the ground floor for storing drinks and food while at the pool 6) Lots of pool toys, beach chairs, etc. 7) Fairly quiet area compared to Beach Blvd, but close to restaurants and shopping. We had great communication with the owner. Everyone in our party loved the property. Highly recommend.

Great property for large groups

The property was fantastic for a large group. We had 11 adults and two dogs. The yard was very wet and the dogs kept getting in the mud, so that was a little disappointing, but overall I’d stay there again. The floors were sticky, but we expected that at the beach. The rest of the house was clean and neat. We ended up driving to the beach with our stuff and then walking to the public access as we couldn’t see another access point, but everyone was okay with that. The pool was nice and we used it daily. We ate at a lot of good restaurants and enjoyed every minute of our trip.

Great Vacation Home with Pool!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This is our third time we've stayed here. We had 12 people rent When Pigs Fly and loved it. Very clean and up to date. We had a problem with the ice maker but maintenance was there within an hour with two bags of ice. Love the location (walking distance to the beach as well as "downtown" area). Our only minor complaint is it would be nice to have hangers in the closets as well as enough towel racks to hang all towels. Would definitely recommend this house.

Great property, great communication

We loved the property, the private swimming pool and access to Gulf Shores restaurants and stores. It was a short drive to Publix and Walmart. I loved that they had a storage area full of floats, beach toys and a wagon to use. This helped so much. The house was beautiful but in need of a few improvements (ice machines didn't work, deck was in need of repair, lamps didn't work, etc) We vacationed in August, very end of the summer so I assume they wait until the summer busy season to repair all things. But overall was a great rental - we would book again! The communication with the property owners was top notch! Leading up to the trip they were very quick to answer any questions I had. While on property they were quick to answer as well or send maintenance when needed.

5 SISTERS & OUR FAMILIES FOR THANKSGIVING VACATION

What a wonderful experience this vacation was for us all. We ranged from age 66 to 8 months. We traveled from Texas, Georgia & Virginia to meet up for our Family Thanksgiving Vacation. We rent a place large enough to hold us all every year, but this was the first time we rented a place that was as well stocked with everything we needed. We usually have to show up with huge pots and pans and half our kitchens from home, but this was the first time that it was all already present and ready for us to use, didn't even have to unpack our own kitchenware. This house was in a good location and in great condition, the pool was awesome, the property manager was friendly and helpful and there was easy access to the beach. "WHEN PIGS FLY" was just perfect for us. I hope to have the opportunity to return in the future. This is a very beautiful home and I am so happy it was available to be shared with me and my family. I will recommend this rental property to all my friends.

Very nice property

Very nice property but definitely needs some repairs on decking and railings. Some of the deck boards are loose and many of the balusters were either loose or detached. Quite a few low quality repairs made on the deck rails ect with exposed screws that scratched you if not careful. Most of the inside of the property was very nice and updated except the panels on both refrigerators did not work or dispense water. As for cutting between the houses for beach access that was a no go with stickers all along the path. The beach access was quite a walk especially for small children so we drove them to the public parking area across from the beach access pathway. Having the heated pool was a lifesaver with the Temps dropping so low and the cool winds. The kids loved the heated pool. Overall a fun vacation.

Por qué eligió esta propiedad

In 2004 we discovered that OMG, Alabama had a beach--and it was a really beautiful beach. We fell in love with the sugar white beaches and family-friendly atmosphere. We liked that Gulf Shores was easier to reach than any other beach we knew of along the Gulf Coast (no 2 lane roads to get here but it is still not huge and built up!)

From the beach road we spotted the house & its big grassy pool area & porches and loved it, but couldn't really imagine that it was a possibility for us. We came up with a plan that calls for another 20 years of hard work, a lot of cooperation from Mother Nature, and the idea that other families like ours will continue to love Gulf Shores and want to come visit.

We love the West Beach area of Gulf Shores. It is low-key and very residential but you are just a couple of miles from restaurants, within 3 miles of Waterville and the Zoo, within 4 miles of several grocery stores.

Qué distingue a esta propiedad

Pool, pool, pool plus a nice BIG yard. Love the quiet location about 600' back from the beach, but also like have refreshing water right in the backyard. And maybe this is sacrilege, but it is really nice having a grass yard instead of sand! Our children were 3 & 5 when we bought the house and could manage the distance to the beach.

We try to have the things we like at the house for your stay, like a grill, beach cart, books, games, etc. Lots of houses don't have those sorts of things but we hope they add a little something extra to your stay.
