Poindexter’s Palace is very unique. You will have an eclectic experience with a combination of a traditional Mongolian Yurt (Ger) combined with a well appointed tiny house that gives the guests two separate areas to enjoy.
Clark Fork is a beautiful community in North Idaho with small town charm. There are outdoor activities to enjoy including Clark Fork River, Lake Pend Oreille, Schweitzer Ski Resort, and miles of back roads and trails to enjoy.

Escape to Poindexter’s Palace, a one-of-a-kind stay featuring a traditional Mongolian yurt (Ger) and a custom-built tiny house, nestled in the scenic town of Clark Fork near Lake Pend Oreille and Schweitzer Ski Resort.
Enjoy the best of both worlds: cozy glamping in the yurt and modern comfort in the tiny house—connected by a shared deck with a grill, picnic table, and Adirondack chairs.
The Yurt (350 sq ft):
King bed, couch, dining table, armoire, bar/work space, mini fridge, and Keurig.
The Tiny House:
Full kitchen, full bathroom with hot shower, bright living area, and a cozy loft accessed by ladder.
Perfect for a romantic getaway, outdoor adventure, or unique stay close to rivers, trails, skiing, and small-town charm.
Good to know:

Named after our beloved German Shepherd, Poindexter (Dex), this peaceful retreat is designed for comfort, character, and unforgettable memories.
Guest access
The yurt and tiny house are all yours while you enjoy your stay. They are separated by a few steps across the deck. There is plenty of parking for your use.
Consider bringing shoes or sandals that you can easily slip on and off as you go from the yurt and tiny house.
Other things to note
The yurt is a tent-style structure, so you’ll hear natural and neighborhood sounds (creek, trains, kids, pets). Sound travels easily, so please be mindful of noise.
Verizon cell service works best. WIFI IS COMING APRIL 27!!!!
Our water heater is on the smaller side, which means you’ll get about 5–10 minutes of nice hot water at a time. It recovers quickly, so spacing showers out a bit works perfectly.

The accommodations are comfortable and as advertised. The host is VERY responsive and communication is easy. I have had 3 stays here and enjoyed every one.

The yurt and tiny home was an awesome combo...our host was very responsive when communicating. Clark fork is a very small quite town. Friendly people and the kids running around town having fun was nice to see. I love d hearing the train horn blasting!We went up too Antelope trail and found the little lake. While coming down we ran into some folks riding hourses up the trail and let them know there was a fell tree on the path. Friendly folks for sure. We will have to make it back when the smoke clears so we can see the beauty the area offers.

Wonderful time!
This was our second year here and it did not disappoint! A great time was had by all and we appreciate the time and effort the hosts have put in to make this place the gem it is!

Cozy and Unique Place in Clark Fork, ID
Super clean and cozy yurt and tiny house. Close to Clark Fork River & Lake Pend O'reille. Perfect location for a paddler's paradise. Enjoyed the quiet town with great food options. Will definitely be back again soon.

This place was magical
I adored this property. It was cozy, comfortable, very well equipped and Chris the property manager was very helpful with restaurant suggestions and places to go fish. The neighborhood was extremely quiet, loved hearing all the nature around when we were in the yurt. The tiny home was so cute also. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Comfortable and Quiet
A home away from home! Such a beautiful area and everything here was so clean. Comfortable bed and plenty of space for two people. Once inside the yurt it was so quiet! If you love chickens you’ll definitely see and hear some. Highly recommend this place for anyone considering staying here.

The host, Shannon is very communicative and kind! She always responds to messages right away and makes sure her guests have everything they need. She even advised us that the grocery store closes at 7pm so we wouldn’t get caught without food options! Highly recommend!

Fun stay in Clark fork!
Very tidy property with everything you need! Kitchen is well stocked and efficient. My 9 year old loved sleeping in the loft.
Yurt is well appointed and comfy! Chickens right next door provide an early wake as an FYI. Super base for exploring north Idaho!

Quirky fun place. The only bad part was no cell service or wifi. The Direct TV wasn't working so did a lot of reading. Very clean & comfortable

I’m so sorry to hear the direct tv wasn’t working during your stay. I would have loved to have helped fix that for you if I could have known you were having trouble with it. As stated in the listing we do not have WiFi. I hope you were able to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature around you!

Great little get away
Amazing things:- Everything was clean, neat and welcoming. - Decorated eclectic with great colors and art pieces. - Both the yurt and tiny house were stocked well. You have a/c in both units, a kitchen and bath in the tiny house and a nice tv and living area in the yurt. - The couches and beds were comfortable and cozy. - Easy to access, this is a couple blocks off the highway making it super easy to get to. Things I wished I would have known:- The rooster next door that starts crowing loudly at 4am and continuities until 8am is extra loud in the yurt. Sleep was an issue and it wasn’t communicated in the listing. - Bathroom access is only in the tiny house so if you’re sleeping in the yurt and need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night it’s a process.- Allergies… there is some horse hair decorations which are cute but caused a major allergy flair for one person in our party.

Hey! I apologize for the rooster noise! I found out today that the rooster has been rehomed due to the problems it was causing for our guests. We have the best neighbors around this rental property! So kind and considerate. Glad you enjoyed the comfort and the cool vibe of this property.

We have two hosts at this home. The owners, Chris and Barbara, who reside full time in Montana and enjoy traveling often. They purchased this property in 2018 and have spent the years creating an artistic oasis that has become Poindexter's Palace. Shannon is the cohost who lives in Clark Fork. She is available to help as you prepare for your stay and while you enjoy your getaway in Clark Fork.

Clark Fork, Idaho feels like you've stepped back in time. Almost like living in the 1980s all over again. Life gets to slow down a bit. The whole town is walkable and you'll find people outdoors enjoying life all year round. Although it's a small town you are about a mile from the Clark Fork River and a few miles to Lake Pend Oreille, both where you can swim, boat, fish, picnic, etc.. Schweitzer Ski Resort is a short drive away where you will find endless fun in winter and in summer. At night we have very little light pollution so you can sit out on the deck and watch the stars. In Spring you can hear the roar of Lightning Creek from the deck on the home. Take a deep breath and enjoy relaxation in Clark Fork.
