Dear Dana, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We would like to address a few points in your review, particularly for the benefit of future guests. We find it somewhat contradictory that you criticize our personal check-in process while also expressing dissatisfaction with communication via text messages. Our personal check-ins are specifically designed to welcome guests, explain the home’s features, answer questions, and ensure everything is in order. Declining that opportunity and subsequently criticizing the lack of personal communication is rather puzzling. Regarding the alleged mold smell, there was no mold on the pool deck, nor has there been any evidence of it. As for the plastic dishes, they were available at the property. Ironically, had you allowed us to complete a personal check-in, we would have been happy to show you exactly where to find them. Regarding electricity, we are somewhat surprised that this came as a surprise to you. Electricity charges are clearly disclosed in our listing, rental agreement, and house rules, and are explained again before and during check-in. We make every effort to be transparent, but we cannot make guests read the information provided. As for your concern about paying for electricity while you’re away from the property, you are absolutely correct. If you leave the air conditioning, lights, or pool heater running while you’re out enjoying dinner or shopping, they will continue to consume electricity. Unfortunately, the electric meter has no way of knowing whether you’re home or not. It simply measures the electricity being used. Finally, regarding your security deposit, our rental agreement clearly explains the timeframe for processing refunds. Four days after departure is well within that timeframe. In your particular case, our team also had to deal with considerable amounts of trash and missing items before the final inspection and accounting could be completed. Your description of leaving the property exceptionally clean was certainly an interesting interpretation of its condition. We are pleased that you found the home beautiful.
