Waterfront Cottage in Southern Michigan

Waterfront cottage in southern MI - an easy drive from Cleveland, Chicago, Detroit, Indianapolis, Columbus and anywhere in between.

Canoe and kayaks are available, or bring your own. There is dock space for your shallow water boat as well. See other B.Y.O. items below.

The house has a mix of custom made furniture and art by the owner and his father and serves as his family's getaway between guest stays.

From the patio of the cottage, you are just footsteps away from the shoreline. It is a shallow water channel off of Palmer lake and also connected to Long lake. Lots of birds to be spotted and fish to be caught. The area is diverse in real estate from grand lake houses to mobile homes.

The United States Congress recognizes Colon as "The Magic Capital of the World" and you will see that theme around town. Overall, a very rural area, but there are several good spots to eat around town and there are no fast food chains and plenty of clean country air.

What a cozy gem of a place. The host was very kind and available to answer questions quickly-10/10 stay. My sons would top rate this lake for fishing too!

Mike was a great host and his property was perfect for our getaway. The cottage was nicely decorated and equipped with everything we needed. Really enjoyed the wildlife around the llake and Colon is a “Magic” town full of friendly people. We would stsy there again.

Great Getaway

We loved the location and the atmosphere. It was a great quiet weekend with weather that allowed us to enjoy the water. We are already planning another trip here. Additional plus was very friendly neighbors.

This was a great waterfront rental, had everything you needed and extra to enjoy the water. There were kayaks available to use, along with extra docks for fishing or renting a boat. The place had a laid back, real lake life vibe. The pool table and dart board was a fun plus to have. The beds were comfortable and it was great to be able to travel with our furry family member. We had a great time just fishing off the docks, caught a good amount of sunfish and blue gill. Communication with the host was also great, he got back to me right away when we had any questions on where to find things. We would love to go back, would definitely stay again.

Family getaway

My family of 6 had such a wonderful time. We felt comfortable and had plenty of space. We had a great time playing pool and going kayaking. We definitely would stay again!

Host was very nice and helpful. Mike took care of us when we had a last min travel plan change. We plan to come back and bring my in-laws with us.

Great getaway

Booked the property for a work trip and brought the family along. Plenty of room for everyone to spread out and enjoy the weekend. House was extremely clean and well taken care of. It is in a nice spot on the water for paddling, fishing, and sunsets.

Highly recommend

The cottage is very comfortable and clean. We enjoyed using the kayaks, playing pool and fishing off the pier. We were able to rent a pontoon for the day from Palmer Lake Lodges and it was great being able to dock at the house. We had a great time and would definitely rent again.

Anniversary vacation

We loved the house & property, especially fihing from docks. Everything was very clean & provided many extras, in case you forgot something. Neighborhood is very family friendly. My husband uses a cane & got around very easily. Our dog loved it, too! We look forward to another stay & bring grandkids.

Relaxing getaway!

We had a fantastic time!! The house was perfect for us. We had 5 teens ages 12-19 & they all enjoyed the trip. They loved having the pool table and kayaks. We enjoyed fishing and just relaxing outside. There were plenty of beds for all of us. The host was wonderful about answering any questions that we had. Definitely a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the lake life!!

This is a very peaceful setting with a resident swan to entertain. We enjoyed the area visiting the Rv museum in Elkhart Indiana and Shipshewana both a short trek away. We enjoyed our stay.
