A comfortable home with a responsive host & beautiful views. Very quiet. Little is in walking distance, but it's a short drive to several beaches.

Great place for a family!

This was a perfect spot to land for our family vacation to Maine! Great location and easy to travel for all of our day trips to Bar Harbor or Camden. Lovely house that works well for kids of all ages. Owner has great communication and was even able to ship something that we left in the house! We would definitely stay here again!

The feeling of home!

We travel so much to Maine we could claim residency.....Three couples stayed for a week with one of the couples making their first trip to Maine and we couldn't have selected a better location to give them their first Maine experience. I highly recommend staying at Tranquility on Penobscot Bay Private Retreat.......

Long Awaited Vacation

Three couples enjoyed the property and all the area has to offer for a week. Sightseeing during the day and a great, relaxing, accommodating place to come "home" to in the afternoon and evenings . All the comforts of home, enough space to prepare meals, relax and visit, or just enjoy quiet alone time with plenty of seating and room for everyone no matter the weather. Very quiet, peaceful setting.

Private and peaceful stay. House is filled with great energy. It’s beautiful, clean, spacious, and well equipped. The backyard was amazing with the view of the bay, ample seating, and outdoor dining table. We loved sitting in the Adirondack chairs on the deck with hummingbirds hovering just above our heads coming to the feeder. We were also visited by a flock of turkeys in the early evenings.Darlene is a great host; communicating with us before, during, and after our stay.

FABULOUS!!!!

Beautiful spacious home on a great property! Loved the wood-burning stove. Gorgeous views from all the windows overlooking the lake. Well-equipped kitchen with everything you need. Personal touches make it feel like home. Thank you Darlene for sharing your lovely home.

Delightful

This property totally exceeded my expectations in that it was like the owner went on vacation and let us use her house. It was so well provisioned including coffee, paper towels, blankets, towels and linens etc. it was like somebody lived there full time. The location was prime well with in striking distance of Bar Harbor, Bangor, Camden and of course Belfast. All worth visiting. If we were to vacation again in down east Maine I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.

Cozy cottage, perfect yard and view.

Relaxing family get together in Maine. 4 adults, 1 toddler and our medium size black lab mix. Huge private yard with amazing water view. Great home base with lots to do in the area, sandy beach, state park and lighthouse as well as beautiful Acadia National park just an hour away. Enjoyed small towns nearby with great restaurants and farmers markets. Our daughter joined us with her 1 year old and was able to work with high speed internet. Perfect family vacation. Wish it was our summer home!

Quiet, peaceful, relaxing

All as outlined by the owner. Fully equipped inside and out. Very close to walking into your own home. Beautiful setting, with a nice porch to enjoy the outdoors. TV with streaming for those rainy days (we had two). Close to the grocery store (Hanaford), the pastry shop (Sweet Cheeks), and numerous walking trails at the nearby parks. Watch the bald eagles, water birds, and deer.

Beautiful home with lovely water view

Just a superb house with views of the Penobscot Bay & river. A very comfortable and well equipped home. Very clean. Well stocked kitchen. Lovely spacious yard with fire pit and Adirondack chairs. Easy access to Belfast, Bucksport, Castine and only an hour from Mount Desert Island (Bar Harbor, Acadia NP). Great hiking in the area. Great little restaurants. Ate our weight in lobster. Five stars! Darlene was a great host: communicative and accommodating.

A great second visit to this lovely home

This was our second visit to Darlene's home in Stockton Springs and it was as good as we'd remembered. The house is comfortable and spacious, with comfortable seating and an excellent bed. The view out over Penobscot Bay is stunning at all times of day and in all weather, and we particular like the huge windows in the living room and the comfortable and well-furnished deck. There are lots of great things about the area--it's a very short drive to the spectacular Penobscot Narrows Bridge, and we love visiting the 420-foot high observatory with its 360 degree view of the area. Fort Know is also a gem, and the waterfront walk in Bucksport is delightful. It's easy to go a bit further afield--we visited Blue Hill one day and the Courthouse Gallery in Ellsworth on another. All together, a wonderful place to stay.

Lovely home base for exploring

Our family had a wonderful week at this rental! It’s conveniently located near many great places to visit for day trips - Camden, Belfast, Lake St. George, Sandy Point beach, and of course Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor, and Acadia. The house was clean, comfortable, well equipped, and had enough space for all of us. The screened porch was perfect for early mornings spent drinking coffee and planning our days. We enjoyed the water views and watching the bald eagles each evening around the fire pit! There is no direct water access from the property but the host was so helpful with suggestions. The weather was a bit warmer than usual, and the house does not have AC, but there were ample fans provided and it cooled considerably each night. I wouldn’t hesitate to suggest this rental to anyone traveling to the area - it’s a real gem!

Fort Point Cove Cottage was a delight with beautiful views and comfortable arrangements. We even spotted an eagle and two roosting ospreys during our first few hours there with the binoculars that were in the home. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with additional like coffee pods (which was an unexpected treat!), random cooking spices like salt, as well as ziplocs and other Tupperware containers. There were plenty of fans to help keep the home cool and nighttime was very comfortable with the quilts and bedding.My kids loved having access to well-built cornhole boards as well as the huge backyard.Darlene was extremely communicative and welcoming. Instructions for departure were very clear. The only downside was that the third bed was located in a lofted area, not an actual bedroom, but that is in the listing and was not a surprise to us - it just would've been nice to have an actual bedroom, but the location on the bay well made up for it.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and Darlene made sure to list several restaurants and activities nearby.

Great vacation getaway

The Fort Point Cove Cottage was an excellent place to stay. My wife and I have rented numerous houses and condos and this house was one of the best. Everything in the house was very clean. We had everything needed to make our week comfortable including a well- stocked kitchen staples and kitchenware. We enjoyed being outside and this house met our outdoor needs. The yard was large and well maintained, the deck was great for early morning and late afternoons views of the bay; and the open space was great playing frisbee with the dogs. Then there was the enclosed porch for the mid-day sun with a cool breeze; we often ate our meals there and observed occasional hummingbirds. Then to top the day off, we enjoyed warmth of the fire pit as we watched the stars. I have been traveling in Maine for many years, but never spent any time in Stockton Springs. This is a great location; it is a short drive to Belfast, and there are many nearby areas to walk and boat. Sears Island is a real gem of a reserve. You can walk at low tide around portions of the perimeter or walk inland on a road or trails. On the midweek days, we only saw 2 or 3 other walkers. Also, if you like kayaking, Stockton Springs Harbor is only a 10-minute car ride and a great put-in spot.

Lovely, peaceful home on the water

Absolutely the perfect home for a authentic Maine experience. The screen porch is heaven on earth. We had a flock of turkeys that weren’t in the least bothered by our presence. So we enjoyed watching them munch on the grass everyday. Lots of birdsong. The house has everything you need to cook anything you want. This was our home base for two weeks while we explored all along the coast. Very private. Theres no houses in sight, although some close by hidden by all the trees, so very private. Some days we didn’t even leave the house. It was so relaxing we didn’t want to. They have a great tv and surround sound so we enjoyed watching movies together. THere’s no A/C, which wasn’t a problem for most of the time but we there were a few hot and humid days that made us get in the AC Van and go anywhere just to be in the AC. But it was never a problem st night because it was so cool. We kept our windows open and the fans going every night. I slept so good and woke up feeling completely refreshed everyday. Something I could never do my day if the year back home in Texas.

Yearly Maine Trip

Been vacationing in Maine for decades, the house & area of Stockton Springs is a wonderful peaceful bit of the Old Maine of my childhood. So enjoyed the house & grounds lots of room to spread out, fire pit nights, waking up to our 3 resident Bald Eagles was a treat. The house is well equipped and we had everything g we needed & more. Darlene is a wonderful host responsive & helpful. Can’t wait to return. Young’s Lobster Pound is the best in our opinion.

Eagle roost Penobscot views

Comfort, quiet, and serene view frequently accented by roosting bald eagles. Blue berry hedge with ripe fruit for breakfast in the mornings, plenty of firewood for gathering around the fire pit at night after cooking in the well equipped kitchen. Screen porch another great gathering place which was cool and breezy even on some 90 + degree days. Great location well away from traffic and noise but close to countless great destinations, including nearby trails on preserved Sears Island. I took one star off on accuracy only because Darlene, who was very accessible and easy to work with, needs to update a couple of items on the listing. Highly recommended house rental! Really comfortable beds!

Lovely Property in Excellent Location

Fabulous location, great amenities, spacious, peaceful. We visited Acadia National Park, Camden, Belfast, Swan Lake, Sears Island. Very private property with lovely views. Great place to relax.

Great family vacation

This property and the location was beautiful! Darlene was so easy to work with and the house had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. We traveled to Maine for a long overdue vacation with our parents and had the best time. The house is located in a beautiful, quiet area that's a short drive to anything you could want or need. We spent our time exploring the nearby cities and hiking around Acadia and Bar Harbor. We already miss it and cannot imagine how lovely the area is in the fall with the changing colors. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy the beauty of Maine's coast.

Family June Trip

My family and I had a wonderful weeklong vacation at Darlene’s. The house was beyond equipped with daily necessities and supplies and the host was great with communication. We spent a lot of family time on her beautiful outdoor deck watching the sunset and played many games in the screened in sun porch. Stockton Springs is a nice central location for day trips to Bar Harbor, Castine, Deer Isle, Belfast, and many others. We will definitely be back!
