MONKTON LIBRARY COTTAGE

This Monkton, Vermont library cottage was once home to adventures, fairy tales, comics, mysteries and fiction. It has recently been transformed into a welcoming space for travelers to call their home away from home. Very centrally located between Burlington and Middlebury, within walking distance to the new Monkton Town Library and Chocolate Store. Enjoy breathtaking sunrises over Camel's Hump and sunsets over the Adirondacks. Within a short drive, 15 mins. to local restaurants, hikes, fishing, rivers, skiing (Middlebury Snow Bowl, Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, and Bolton Valley), and mountain biking. We are eco-friendly and are mindful of our carbon footprint that we will leave behind.

This property was the perfect size for just my husband and me. It was very relaxing after we traveled around the area a bit to come back and have a cozy place to stay.

This place is just adorable and cozy! It was a perfect location for us to explore- we went from shelburne farms to Ben and Jerry’s to the causeway up to South hero! It is nice and private- there is no shade to sit in the yard, that would’ve been nice. Things were very clean and well stocked. There were 4 of us which made this very cozy as it is a small space as advertised- I just don’t think I’d do it again to have the kids sleeping in the only living space. The dining table is also quite small if you plan on eating there- and not enough chairs for 4 at the table. Very clean and comfortable and we had a lovely stay!

I am glad you liked the Cottage and were able to go to many of the places I recommended in the book. I am sorry that you didn’t know that there are 2 leafs on the table that flip up and there are 2 extra folding chairs behind the couch. Maybe I should’ve have written that in the book. Thank you for pointing that out, as I always say, “please reach out with any questions or concerns that you may have.” I try to please when I can. Thank you for booking the Cottage.

July 4 week

Comfortable and clean place, nice location, close to great biking, kayaking and Shelburne Museum. We really enjoyed our stay!

Great place to stay in the summer! Nina was easy to work with and checked in on us to make sure we were all set on arrival. Very cute cottage with beautiful views of the mountains out back, including Camels Hump. Loved that is used to be a Library! It was nicely decorated, homey and comfortable. Well stocked for morning coffee and for making a meal with your own supplies. Freshly made chocolate store right across the street! Small, but great for a couple, or 2xC or a family with a couple kids with LR pullout, Close to Middlebury, Bristol, Vergennes, or Lake Champlain with plenty of nice restaurants, shops, and activities in all the surrounding areas to keep you busy. Suggestion: Go for a drive through the countryside, its lovely. The farms, the homes, small shops, shady spots, ponds and streams for wading; all the bits of Vermont's America. Get a Creemee, preferably maple, but you do you. Eat some chocolate. Sleep in a comfy bed. Enjoy your stay!

Perfect Stay for Visiting VT Family

The Library Cottage met and exceeded our expectations. It was cozy, clean, welcoming and very well stocked. A perfect place for us to stay while visiting our Vermont family. We will definitely be booking again.

We spent a 5-day weekend visiting the greater Burlington area. The cottage is the perfect location to see the sites in Burlington, Shelburne, Waterbury, and Stowe. The cottage itself is clean, well-stocked with all the necessary items, and has all the modern amenities while keeping it's historic charm.For those considering the cottage - be an early riser if staying on a weekday. We stayed Thursday to Monday... the property is on a T-corner and the traffic noise started at 515am on Friday and Monday. You wouldn't think traffic noise in rural Vermont, but loud trucks and thruster mufflers in the early am is not a pleasant way to start your day. And in the pictures, note you're parking "on the road out front" - there's no off-street parking, and with the way the cars came around the corner...Mentioning too that the bed is a double - not a queen or king. I didn't look close enough before booking and it wasn't in the description.
