Enjoy your coffee as you stroll the trail listening to the chipmunks and birds awakening to the morning sun. Abundance of wildlife, sites of red fox, elk, deer. Settle in under the Aspen trees, star gaze the night away and wake to the forest fresh air. Chippeway Trailhead #247E has several trails to hike or ATV at your disposal in this private setting. Located approx. 6 miles from Cloudcroft, on Hwy #130, the cabin at 91 Ridge Drive is within minutes to skiing, more hiking, fishing, hunting, shopping, biking, rock climbing, restaurants, and bars. "Peace & Quiet" features a Living Room with an electric Fireplace, fully furnished kitchen with Stainless Steel appliances, one bath with shower, the upstairs loft has a queen bed and two twin beds, accessed by a ladder. Loved this property!

The cabin is small and cozy. Made for a perfect weekend getaway. Literally at a great trail for hiking or running. Location to town is great as well. Cannot tell you enough how much we loved this! Host was great, and very accommodating.

Great little cabin!

The cabin was perfect for our quick trip to Cloudcroft.Compact and cozy.The beds are in the loft so just have to be careful with the ladder/steps.Great hiking location and reasonable price.It's a keeper for sure and the host was excellent!

The cabin and location did not disappoint. Great location for hikes, wildlife and close to food/shops. We even requested an additional night, highly recommend.

10/10 Serene Mountain Cabin in the Woods

My girlfriend and I couldn't be happier with our stay in this charming, rustic mountain cabin nestled on a hillside in the gorgeous pine forests of the Sacramento Mountains. The layout and amenities of the cabin were so cozy, and the location was a major plus, providing a plethora of activity options being 10 minutes from Cloudcroft, 45 minutes from Alamogordo/White Sands, an hour from Ruidoso, and a 60 second walk from a fantastic hiking trail- Chippeway Spur. We will definitely be back!

Christmas Break Getaway

We absolutely loved our stay at Kelly’s cabin in the woods! Our boys (8 & 6) enjoyed hikes both on the trails behind the cabin and in Cloudcroft. Kelly had so many cute personal touches in the cabin and also provided some welcome gifts and necessities that were very much appreciated after our long journey to the area. I would definitely recommend the cabin to any family wanting to get away and reconnect in nature!

This stay was GREAT!! We had the best time, the cabin was perfect! Definitely would need a 4X4 if it had been snowy or wet, but it was dry when we were there. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable stay and a few extras the host threw in that made it extra welcoming. The host was super friendly and very communicative. I definitely recommend a stay here at Peace and Quiet!

Cozy little cabin

Peaceful retreat

We spent Thanksgiving weekend here with our toddler and dog. A true mountain cabin in the woods retreat! We enjoyed the nearby hiking trail and saw several elk. We also visited White Sands and the space museum in Alamogordo. All perfect for our small family. Thank you! The road to the cabin definitely requires a 4x4 vehicle and was very muddy from recent snow. We were prepared with our truck.

Great Weekend Getaway!

We booked a last-minute weekend trip to this peaceful cabin and did not regret it one bit! Kelly's cabin was perfect for a cozy and secluded weekend in the mountains. Kitchen was stocked with EVERYTHING you could possibly think of- I was able to make a warm stew in her crockpot for dinner. 10/10 stay, we will be back again!

Cloudcroft Cabin

Property was clean and well put together, good location with neighbors spaced out on the hill. Communication with host was easy and quick, cabin was enough space for three adults. Access to the shed, table and grill to hang out was a plus. Would recommend!

Cool, quiet, peaceful, lovely

We needed a break from the extreme heat of summer, and stress of all the political stuff going on. This was the perfect choice! The cabin was just right for the two of us, had everything we needed to enjoy several days in the cool pines and relax! Saw lots of birds and a deer. The trail nearby is a little rough for old folks, but we enjoyed several walks through the forest. Cloudcroft is a welcoming village and has a lot to offer. This little "tree house" in the woods is a perfect choice to enjoy all the high mountains have to offer. We'll definitely be back! Thanks so much!

Cool get away !

Lovely place to stay in the mountains and be cool! Great host clean property. Only drawback - the stairs to the loft which was adorable but just kinda hard if you’re 70+! We were aware of it and managed fine just not ideal Despite that would return again because a nice spot

What a wonderful week! Everything was perfect. Part of my family rented another larger place in town and my two adult nieces and I stayed at "peace and quiet". Everyone who saw "peace and quiet" immediately fell in love with the setting and the perfect little cabin. Kelly is a wonderful host.

Wonderful cozy cabin in a beautiful private spot

We enjoyed our stay here so very much. The cabin is so cute and cozy. The host has gone to unusual lengths to make it cute and comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped to cook any simple meal. We brought two ATVs There was ample room to park our truck & trailer. There is a wonderful ATV trail right beside the cabin. We had so much fun riding & hiking in the beautiful forrest. We also had a campfire. It is an easy drive to Cloudcroft to shop or eat. Also White Sands is an easy & interesting drive. The bedrooms are upstairs and you have to climb a ladder. My husband and I are both in our 70s. So climbing down the ladder in the middle of the night to potty was not our favorite part. But the two 15 year old granddaughters loved the loft. If you want a beautiful secluded spot with lots of piece and quiet it is perfect.

Peaceful forest retreat

This cabin was a perfect escape from the heat! It’s small but had everything we needed for a comfortable 4 night stay. We liked that it was a little ways away from downtown Cloudcroft (about 10 minute scenic drive away). It felt secluded but was still close to trails and shopping.

Perfect Peace & Quiet

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Peace & Quiet cabin! It was exactly what we wanted. Our host was great! The cabin itself was everything we needed, and the surrounding property is gorgeous. The trails within steps of the cabin are beautiful. We took a drive over to Russian Canyon to hike in that area as well. Equally beautiful. Five star stay!

Great time in Cloudcroft

We really enjoyed our stay at Peace and Quiet outside of Cloudcroft! The cabin is cozy but very efficient with space, and decorated impeccably. The setting was very relaxing and very quiet. The trailhead nearby was very nice and we enjoyed a nice stroll through the tall trees. We saw elk on several occasions. We had no trouble getting to the cabin but you might want a truck or SUV if it is rainy or snowy.

An adventure!

The Peace & Quiet Cabin was wonderful! We saw wildlife and beautiful birds, but were ok with not seeing any bears. It was so very relaxing even though there was a major issue going on for most of our stay (which was totally out of the hosts' control). Our host, Kelly was so wonderful. She kept us updated on what was going on the whole time, and compensated us very fairly! We understood it was something that was a rare occurrence and there were plans already underway to prevent a future occurrence. We also had our dog Lizzy with us and she loved it too. We didn't have any young children with us but were pleasantly surprised to see that there were lots of entertaining games/toys for them. Kelly really thought of all the 'little things' that may be needed during a stay. Cloudcroft is a beautiful town and The Peace & Quiet Cabin is a wonderful place to stay when visiting! Thank you Kelly! Hope to be back!

Family Vacation June 2024

My husband, 1 year old daughter, and I stayed at the Peace & Quiet Cabin for 4 nights. We absolutely loved the coziness of the cabin and being off the beaten path tucked into the National Forest. We saw many elk around the cabin as well as a black bear (this is what we hoped to see). Coming from the South Texas heat we thoroughly enjoyed the cool temps under the massive pine trees. We will definitely return to this cabin in the years to come. Kelly was an amazing host who kept in contact with me and made sure we had everything we needed. By the far the best experience we have had with a VRBO host/rental property. 10/10 recommended staying at the peace & quiet cabin.

I have lived in Ruidoso, NM for forty plus years and been visiting to Cloudcroft forever. Finally, my dreams have come true to have a place to escape the busy tourist life of Ruidoso and getaway to the peace and quiet of Cloudcroft., hence the name. Just forty miles from Ruidoso, it is a great escape for us and hope it is for you also. We can't always be there with our busy lives, so we want others to experience this unique property. We love the great outdoors and New Mexico, so hiking, dirt biking, 4 wheelin, and grillin are our favs and this spot captures the outdoors with a convenience that can't be matched. Reading a book to the rain on the metal roof, is the best relax, promise. We like adding a special touch to our properties and try to think of all the things you might need for that picture perfect vacation. Ask about our other places coming online soon. Please remember to pack it in, pack it out while in our gorgeous state.

We wanted secluded, near the forest with trail access but easy access to Hwy and Cloudcroft close by. Tons of trees, (friendly neighborhood when we see them), shed for storage and parking, cabin is the cutest and perfect size. You feel like you are in a treehouse and/or camping but modern conveniences like plumbing.
