I stayed here with old college friends for JMU Homecoming weekend, and the property did not disappoint! It was the perfect retreat away from the noise — peaceful, comfortable, and beautifully kept. We loved catching up around the fire pit and waking up to stunning sunrises. Highly recommend for a quiet and relaxing weekend getaway.

Easter trip

We enjoyed our stay at this sort term rental. There was ample space for us to host a meal, interact and with family. The location was great and the beds were comfortable.

Excellent Accomodations

We had a wonderful time staying at this property. Close enough to the city - but far enough from the chaos. Enjoyed a JMU game and a hike the next day. The cinnamon rolls and apples provided by the owner were an extra special (and delicious) surprise!

Cozy, Cute, disconnected from the world home

We loved our home away from home. It was a last minute get away and It was just what we needed to relax and just enjoy each others company. We spent the day visiting loval wineries and ended our night with a warm fire on a cold night! We would definitely stay again!

Well-stocked house out in country

The house has lots of space—really good sized rooms—and plenty of towels, linens, outdoor furniture and equipment, etc. to make your stay comfortable. Beautiful view of the mountains and incredible stars on a clear night. We stayed for my daughter’s graduation from JMU and it was close enough to be convenient.

A true get-away

Without the potential of TV or WiFi, this rental truly allows a feeling of liberation from modernity and the fast pace of life. Big beautiful yard and nice large rooms for gathering of friends for games and chats and music

JMU Graduation 2024

Fri & Sat night in Mid May. Just like it’s listed. Beautiful. Country. Gravel roads. Pond in the very back of house. 3 bedrms, 2 bath. Big den/living room. Kitchen was ready for us coffee drinkers! Nice snacks & homemade danish ❤️. Comfy beds, quiet surroundings, beautiful horses, and I wish we had more time to hang out in the neighborhood. Fire pit ready to go. Deck is really nice. Bit of a drive to JMU, but…. The drive is beautiful.

Love to hear that the property is just as expected, we couldn't ask for a better comment. We are open with all that we have to offer and what we don't :) Your favorites are our favorites as well! The yard and the special touches are important. The drive to JMU is a little longer than a hop, skip and a jump- but just like you mentioned the views along the way make up for a few extra minutes in the car. The drive to JMU from WWH is approx 28 minutes :)

Homey and peaceful

The house was very homey and peaceful. It was out in the country. I woke up to a beautiful sunrise and 2 horses right outside my window next door. The beds were very comfy. There was no water dispenser in the fridge, so the host left us plenty of bottled water. There were several options for coffee. A basket of bars and cinnamon rolls were left on the counter. There were ample towels and wash cloths. These were all thoughtful touches. My only slight complaint is that the carpet was pretty stained and dated. It probably needs to be updated at some point. Everything else was great! I wish we’d had the opportunity to use the firepit to make s’more’s with the supplies provided and to play some of the games provided. But we were only in town for a running race. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to unplug!

Nice clean place for our stopover after a long drive. Nice little extras with coffee and water and snacks, and we even got to spend time with the horses nextdoor

This place is just what we needed. It just feels welcoming when you walk in. It’s well supplied and everything is labeled so it’s easy to find stuff. We definitely recommend.

A perfect fit for 3 generations and all their needs! Having everything on one floor was beyond helpful for our oldest family member, but having a bed (and room) where almost everyone got their own bed was an additional bonus. The additional amenities -- from bathroom, to kitchen, to living room -- were icing on the cake, and the lack of tech gave us a wonderful reason to spend time with each other or just bask in the tranquility of the countryside. Bessie was very communicative from start to finish. We couldn't stay long, but we also couldn't have asked for more and hope we can come back in the future to more fully appreciate all this house has to offer!
