Come pamper yourself and your loved ones in this beautifully updated 1830 Georgian property featuring three large ensuite bedrooms with adjoining private lounges. The moment you step over the threshold you’ll feel a wonderful sense of calm, just the remedy after a long work week or car ride!

Eckersley-McEwan house is a little piece of Niagara-on-the-Lake history with quirks and character common to a historic property, which we trust will enhance your visit.

The fully equipped kitchen is a chef’s dream with an Aga stove as its centrepiece as well as two fridges and two dishwashers. For the coffee lover there is a Nespresso machine for your perfect morning brew.

Luxury bed linen/towels, completely refurbished bathrooms and super comfy beds are but a few of the special touches to lull you into dreamland.

Outside you will find a private backyard oasis with optionally heated pool, resort-like sun loungers, a covered terrace with fire pit and a fantastic outside kitchen with large BBQ, wine fridge and a steak sizzling station. For the golf enthusiast there is also a putting green to improve your game!

This was the cutest, quaint house with so much character. Close to town and loved it.

Our stay at the Eckersley McEwan House was absolutely amazing. There was plenty of space and the kids loved the back yard so much. I only wish it was 10 degrees warmer when we were there. We will definitely be back to the area and would love to stay again.

Overall great accommodations in a very central/walkable location. The house definitely has its charms - a bit like living in a museum piece. Lots of great attributes, starting with the host who met us on site and provided an orientation. Pool area was excellent but note there is an additional charge to have it heated. Outdoor kitchen/BBQ area was also fantastic. The indoor kitchen was great for gathering and preparing meals, which we took advantage of. Aga stove is great and puts out a lot of ambient heat. Spacious rooms and lounges throughout the house. But there were a lot of quirks as well.... None of the bedroom windows can be opened. AC units in the bedrooms help to circulate air but they are noisy. Lots of transitions between the different floorings and very uneven floors - not surprising with a house that is nearly 200 years old! - but watch your step. In the kitchen, you could not use certain appliances together without blowing a breaker. Upon arrival, we were told that the basement had recently flooded and needed to be dried. We were asked to dump the water from the dehumidifier regularly (it was full each day) and the musty smell made the entire basement unusable as well as permeating through the rest of the house. It would have been nice to know this before we arrived and maybe be offered a discount on the price (?). So a few things the host can hopefully amend for the next guests but some things are just part of the fun of the unfamiliar.

Thank you for the review and glad that you enjoyed your stay at the house. Niagara on the Lake experienced severe flooding this year and unfortunately this house did not escape it in the TV room in the basement. After drying out the basement all new carpets were installed. We run the dehumidifier 24 hours and we are looking at ways to make it automatic so does not require emptying. Thanks for the feedback and we will look into what else can be done on this old property.

Beautiful Place to stay and enjoy NOTL

All accommodations were fantastic. Loved the small touches of the chocolates, spirits and all the goodies to make our stay more enjoyable. Great hosts. Highly recommend.

Beautiful home in a great location

The house is exactly as it appears in photographs. The hosts were very gracious, walking us through the house on arrival, and available nearby if we had any questions. It's in a PERFECT location to enjoy all the sights of Niagara-on-the-lake. Would definitely recommend!

Where do I even begin? This historic Old Town property is absolutely stunning — from the moment we arrived, we were blown away. The lawn, pool, and outdoor space were a complete dream. We spent so much time outside just soaking it all in. It's the kind of space that makes you never want to leave.Inside, the home is incredibly spacious and comfortable — it truly felt like a home, not just a rental. We loved all the books tucked throughout the house and the charm they added to every room. There's a warmth and character here that you just can't manufacture.One funny moment — the Aga stove! We had never seen or heard of one before, and figuring it out gave us a good laugh. Thankfully the house guide had a thorough description, so we got there eventually. Honestly it just added to the charm of the whole experience.The location is unbeatable. Every morning we walked to Queen Street — the kids made a beeline for Starbucks and then we'd all stroll the streets together. It became our favorite little daily ritual. The walkability alone makes this property special.We are already talking about coming back and spending a few weeks here in the summer. If you're on the fence, don't be — this one is a 5 out of 5 without question. We will absolutely rent again!

Quick trip to NOTL

My wife and I drew a circle on the map within 5 hrs from home. Our main request was a home with a private pool that would force us to relax and enjoy each others company(as we always do). We picked this home because of the pool and, other amenities and proximity to dining/shopping(easy walk) not even knowing what NOTL had to offer. The host Kenton met us upon arrival to go over a few things with the historic home. Neither of us expected this, but appreciated it so much. Especially about the AGA stove; look it up you will want to cook just to use the stove. We truly relaxed and enjoyed our stay. a few quirky things included AC in the bedrooms only, bedroom on the main level was queen and upstairs was a king. We got over that quickly as the weather was not too hot and the steps weren’t that hard for us to navigate. Looking forward to a return trip!!

Regarding Air Conditioning the house is cooled and heated via Split Units. They are located in all the bedrooms as well as in the kitchen. We also have turned the AGA oven off in the middle of summer to help keep the property cooler. Until next time!
