The BABY DUCK is a beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home, located off a quiet street, near Ocracoke's historic lighthouse.

With its 1920's Bungalow Style Architecture, 9 ft ceilings, hardwood floors, bead board paneling and crystal doorknobs, it is clear that this house is special. Decorated perfectly with local photography and antique treasures, this custom built home features an open living and dining area, well equipped kitchen, sundeck, and screened porch. In addition, the jacuzzi bathtub, flat screen TV, DVD player, laundry, outdoor shower, charcoal grill, fish bench and WiFi access provide exceptional comfort during your stay.

The first floor has a peaceful queen master bedroom with a private attached bathroom. The sunny queen guest bedroom has an easily accessible bathroom just around the corner. The upstairs is the answer to a child's imagination, offering twin beds, a sitting area complete with a second TV, DVD player, and the perfect view for spying a pirate ship gliding across the Pamlico Sound. This home is perfect for a romantic getaway, two couples, or a family. The screened porch and decks allow for views of the marsh, quiet time in a rocking chair or a nap on the daybed while you enjoy the afternoon breeze.

The BABY DUCK is conveniently located on the island within easy walking distance to the Ocracoke Lighthouse and Springers Point nature preserve. It is minutes away by foot or by bike to Silver Lake Harbor, restaurants and shopping. All 13 miles of oceanfront on Ocracoke Island are undeveloped — not a building in sight, just miles of clean, open, white sand beaches. This most beautiful beach can be accessed by bicycle or vehicle and has convenient parking, boardwalk, and summer lifeguards. With a 4 wheel drive vehicle and proper permit, you can drive on the beach with all of your essentials and find a private spot to call your own.

We love our home and have planned every detail to make your vacation relaxing and fun. To ensure that the BABY DUCK is always in tip-top shape, a cleaning/damage deposit is included with your rental rate. Come discover this very special place hidden down our secret path, among the ancient live oaks, salt marsh and ocean environments. We know you will love it as much as we do!

Our home is a non-smoking home and pets are not allowed. For your convenience, sheets and towels are available for an additional fee.

Family vacation in Ocracoke

Very clean, plenty of room. The house is close to restaurants and shops. We rented bikes and were able to bike to almost everything. We really enjoyed our stay!

Perfection on Ocracoke Island

Charming and beautifully appointed, Baby Duck is one of the nicest & definitely the cleanest house our family has ever rented; anywhere! The screened porch is even nicer than depicted, with a large daybed and the sounds of waves coming through the marshes. While tucked within a group of family owned cottages, there is a complete respect for privacy & even a sense of solitude about Baby Duck. Five plus stars.

Great family vacation rental!

Fantastic place to stay!

We decided to leave a day early because the Outer Banks was closing down to tourists (due to COvid-19), but the place was great. Clean, well-stocked utensils, cookware, etc in the kitchen and good location on the island.

Baby Duck Made Our Island Stay Magical

There is so much about Ocracoke that we love--the small, non-commercialized village, the miles of undeveloped beaches, riding bicycles everywhere...especially to Ocracoke Coffee Co. But Baby Duck was the icing on the cake. Spending a blustery, rainy afternoon inside was just as much fun as our sunny days outside. A few of our favorite things about Baby Duck--breakfast on the screened-in porch, the children's loft (complete with sitting area and TV/DVD), the outdoor shower and fish cleaning sink, the fully-equipped kitchen, and the quiet location with a view of the lighthouse. I really can't think of a way to make this house better.

Baby Duck is fabulous - a rare find!

Baby Duck is truly exceptional! This lovely home is beautifully appointed, charming, extremely clean, private, and convenient to town. It has a fabulous location, just a short distance to all restaurants, shops, the beaches, and the Ocracoke lighthouse which is practically next door. The upstairs loft is so inviting and has views of both the lighthouse and the ocean. Extreme attention to detail has made this cottage very cozy, comfortable and so pleasant and relaxing to stay in. We really enjoyed using the screened porch to read and socialize as well. The owners are a pleasure to work with and they provide all the amenities you could ever ask for. Baby Duck feels like home and provides a great place to relax on a quiet day and is wonderful to come home to after enjoying all that beautiful Ocracoke has to offer. We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay here and hope to be back again soon. Thank you!

splendid beach house

This house was perfect for our week-long stay at the island with three teenagers. We loved the tasteful furnishing and decorations and the charm of the old-style house (with all the modern comfort). The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for serious cooking. We would have wished for more silverware (there are only single sets, so you have to clean after every meal), sharp cutting knives and better wine glasses. Otherwise, everything was perfect. The screened porch is wonderful to sit and/or sleep during the day and in the evening, thanks to a daybed and wonderful shade protectors. Both bathrooms were very clean with bathtub-showers. The bathroom sinks are both tiny and there is no shelf/board to unpack your toiletries, so bring a bag that can hang on the back of the bathroom door. Be aware that the upstairs loft bedroom does not have a door, so there is no privacy. It really works best for (young) kids. We would definitely rent the cottage again.

Perfect Island Home

We loved this cottage - it was clean, updated beautifully and a perfect size for our family. The owners were accommodating and very easy to work with, providing us bike rentals upon request. The nearby nature preserve and the view of the lighthouse from the porch really made this location incredibly magical. We can't wait to visit again!

Best kept secret on Ocracoke!

We were hesitant to write a review as we didn't want the best kept secret of Ocracoke out! Baby Duck is a fabulous, magical cottage. We have rented several VRBO properties and this is the best! The cottage is nicely furnished and decorated with a lot of attention to detail. We loved the screened-in porch and barbecue in the yard. The outdoor shower was also great! The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed for cooking and grilling. And a huge plus is that all the items were really good quality. Often when you get a rental vacation home kitchen items are inexpensive -- not at Baby Duck! The loft area was a wonderful get away to read a book and take a nap! The outdoor sink/fish cleaning area was a plus to hose off beach furniture! Thank you to the owners and the on site management company. They answered all our questions and were great to work with! Can't wait until we return!
