Welcome to Down Point Duck Cottage, a lovingly restored 1940s home tucked away on a private path in the heart of Ocracoke Village. Surrounded by a large, lush grassy yard — complete with flowering plants, a charming fence, and a view of the iconic Ocracoke Lighthouse — this home invites you to slow down and soak in the island’s beauty.
Outdoors, enjoy:
• A grill on the back deck for easy dinners
• An outdoor shower for rinsing off after the beach
• Plenty of open space for lounging, playing, or simply watching the lighthouse glow at dusk
Inside, every detail has been carefully curated, from the vintage furnishings to the thoughtfully selected artwork and décor. This home is full of character and comfort, designed to evoke a sense of nostalgia while offering everything you need for a relaxing stay.
The first floor includes:
• Two comfortable bedrooms each with a queen bed
• Two full bathrooms
• A fully equipped kitchen
• Dining and living areas adorned with handpicked vintage finds
• A laundry area for convenience
Upstairs, you’ll find:
• A second lounge/TV area — perfect for quiet time or family movie nights
• A third bedroom with two twin beds

We loved this quaint historic cottage. The property was lovely and central to everything Ocracoke has to offer. We loved having morning coffee or relaxing in the afternoons on the porch. The owner was very responsive to any questions. We would definitely stay here again!

The cottage was in a great location with a nice yard and view of the Ocracoke Lighthouse. It was very comfortable and nicely decorated. A very classy place with nice paintings and other pictures. We hated to leave.

We had a great time and enjoyed the property. We were close to everything and it was quiet. Convenient location and outside wash area. We were able to grill which was nice. Very clean house and no bugs inside.

Weekend in Ocracoke

The Home was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed several meals in the sunroom. There was plenty of seating options for being outside.

Ocracoke Getaway

Overall this was a great little spot! It provided exactly what we needed while we were in the cottage. We woke every morning (except the last) and made breakfast. Took off for fishing at the point during the day. Then came home and showered and relaxed until dinner time. We went out to eat and then came back to talk about the fun times. We even got to know our neighbors a bit and enjoyed a lovely night at the fire pit with them! Overall it was very enjoyable. Not to mention waking up to the sight if Ocracoke lighthouse in the morning, beautiful!

This house was so wonderful! The view of the lighthouse out the front is stunning. I think I took about four pictures of it a day in different light. The location of this house by Springer’s Point could not have been better. Inside, it was phenomenally clean, and the kitchen was well stocked. It was also great to have a washer and dryer and outdoor shower after coming back from the beach. We also really enjoyed the screened porch. It’s just such a cozy 1940s bungalow, and it feels so quintessentially Ocracoke. We hope to be able to visit again!

Perfect combination of original Ocracoke and modern style

This cottage is by far the nicest we have ever rented on Ocracoke in the past 30 years. It was perfectly comfortable for 6 of us. We loved the screened porch, outdoor shower, cozy bedrooms & fun vintage lamps, plates and cups & decor. Perfectly designed and perfectly clean! We would love to stay here again.

Lovely Time

My wife, I and our daughter’s family had a lovely time in this very well laid-out house with plenty of room and good privacy for all. Everything worked well, and the owners extended themselves to make it a great experience. The location, with plenty of greenery and the lighthouse close by, make this house hard to beat!

Beautifully Updated 1940’s cottage-All modern appointments without loosing the historical charm

Wonderful experience at this beautiful Home. We spent hours in the huge enclosed porch which has a filtered view of the water. In the morning from the cozy breakfast nook one has an unobstructed view of the Lighthouse 200yards away. The Kitchen is appointed with everything thing you need to make a gourmet meal. The bedrooms and bathrooms are nicely sized and completely renovated. We loved being tucked back in the residential area -away from the shops but only a quick golf cart trip away. A perfect long weekend family reunion in March !!

Fantastic Experience!

Beautiful restoration of a 1940's home. Located just behind the lighthouse on a very private road, this home is an awesome getaway! All amenities were as stated and the home was very clean. A lot of thought went in to recreating the 1940's decor. The host was prompt in communicating and check in was a breeze. An overall awesome experience!
