American Gem is a delightful authentic log cabin and is the perfect getaway for your Smoky Mountains vacation adventure.

As the owners of this charming log cabin, we greatly appreciate the 11 to 13 million visitors who share a love for the Smoky Mountains region. We want to do our part to make your visit here delightful and memorable by providing you with great lodging!

We appreciate the traveler's joy when they arrive at their vacation destination and discover that the lodging they booked is attractive, comfortable, reasonably priced, well-located and meticulously clean and well-cared for. We believe that you will find all of this when you arrive at American Gem! Our goal is to provide a wonderful lodging experience to first-time guests, and to welcome them back year after year.

Convenient, Easily Accessible Location. Please, no parking on grass… Room for 2 cars.

American Gem is located in Echota, a log cabin resort with entry from Winfield Dunn Parkway (a.k.a. Smoky Mountains Parkway and State Highway 66), the primary thoroughfare for visitors arriving via Interstate 40. Echota is located about 1/4-mile and on the opposite side of the Parkway from the impressive Sevierville Events Center. It is about two miles north of Sevierville's central business district.

Ideal for One to Four Guests (can accommodate six) if guest bring blow up mattress or sleeping bags. There is NO Sleeper Sofa...

American Gem is a one-level cabin with two guest suites. Each suite has a king-sized bed with high quality linens, a corner Jacuzzi tub and an adjoining bathroom with shower. Both suites are equipped with satellite Direct TV and DVD-equipped TVs.

Required Disclosure and Consent

David Gothard and wife, Kathy assist them with cabin rentals and maintenance. David is an active Tennessee-licensed real estate broker. Kathy's real estate license is now in retired status. As licensees, they are required and hereby do disclose that they have a personal interest in renting this cabin. As a prospective renter of American Gem, you acknowledge and agree that by making a rental reservation and/or signing the rental agreement provided, you are providing written consent to David and Kathy’s continued involvement in your respective rental transaction.

Great Cabin! Great Location!

This cabin was great for our Christmas trip! It was super clean and so warm and cozy! It’s in a perfect location! It’s away from the hustle and bustle but minutes away from “The Island” and all the activities around the island. It’s close to Target, Walmart, tons of food places and shops. It’s a very short drive to Dollywood and Gatlinburg! The host could not have been any friendlier and easily accessible! We would gladly stay here again! The Dunn’s

I would stay here again. The location was in a convenient spot. The cabin was beautiful and just perfect for us. There were no problems or issues. We truly enjoyed it.

A home away from home

Peaceful and relaxing sitting on both porches!in a perfect location where it's a short travel to everything.watched movies and played games,visited with other family members who also came down as well with their own cabins.

just what i needed to have fun

It was close enough to the show and far enough away from the traffic that once I left the strip I had the chance to settle down and enjoy the quiet in the mountains.

Everything was fine with cabin, except the outlets in the bathrooms did not work, and the hot was empty which upsetting.

Wedding at Pigeon Forge

We loved the cabin. It was perfect for our long weekend stay for a wedding. The location was perfect. Right off the main highway from Seiverville to Gatlinburg. Close to everything. Kathy called and spoke to me personally prior to our stay to answer any questions I had. I highly recommend this cabin.

My son & I stayed here to ride motorcycles in the area. The cabin was very nice and very clean as described in other reviews. The host Kathy was very responsive and helpful. We will be back

Wedding in the Smokies!

Our daughter got married in the Smokies during our stay. The cabin is well appointed and exactly as described online. Kathy was a pleasure to work with and when we had a question, she was very quick with a reply. Convenient, quiet location. Would definitely rent here again!

Home Visit for Dad's Birthday

Good location about 40 minutes to Knoxville (Ball Camp) and close to hiking and tubing in the Smokies. Very relaxing stay then the batteries were rechanged.

My vacation

Love this place. The host is very nice and sweet. I would stay again very clean. Loved sitting on the porch and just rocking and relaxing. Great location for everything. Host was very friendly.

Ponies in the Smokies Visit

This little cabin was perfect for our stay to visit the Convention Center in Sevierville. All the items in here were well thought out as far as needs go for your vacation stay. I would have liked a grill or flat iron to cook outside but we managed without it. The owner was very prompt with replies and we had no issues.

GO JAGS!!

Outside property looked very nice. Entering onto the porch with rockers very inviting although to chilly to sit. Entering very cozy. 2 bedrooms with each a restroom makes it nice for multiple people. Eveything you would need in the kitchen. Back screened in patio with rockers would again been nice if better weather. Enjoyed our stay, great communication with property manager. Thank you very much. Will keep in mind for future visits to the area.

Just what we needed!

Family reunion

The house was very clean and the linens were cozy. Internet and TV worked great. Besides receiving departure information via email, instructions left on the table. 4 steps to follow and we were gone. Thanks for a nice get away with no hidden surprises

Great location

The cabin was well located. It was close to all of the attractions but secluded enough to enjoy the beauty of the Tennessee mountains. The cabin was clean and well equipped with what you need.

I am originally from western N.C. Now we live only a few miles away from the cabin. I enjoy being the host for American Gem because I am definitely a people person!

For years my in-laws traveled out West to dig rocks. Dad enjoyed cutting stones & making beautiful jewelry; mom enjoyed wearing it. They named their cabin American Gem because of their love for this great country and their wonderful hobby.

You will find that American Gem's screened back porch is most inviting. There is ample room to sit & relax. A picnic table sets outside by the porch. Within both bedrooms there is a jacuzzi tub in addition to their own individual bathroom. The cabin is roomy & cozy...We consider it a rare find with lots of TLC.
