Sandy Bottoms....Higgins Lake 3 bedroom + Detached Bunkhouse

Whether vacationing with family or friends, this 3 bedroom lakehouse & detached bunkhouse is just what you are looking for. With 99 feet of lakefrontage and plenty of parking, it is a perfect retreat for anyone seeking relaxation and adventure. The location on Higgins Lake is referred to as "The Gold Coast" because you can see both the sunrise and the sunset from our dock. The main house has 3 bedrooms, each with new comfortable mattresses to provide you with a great nights sleep. The master bedroom features a King size bed and an en-suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a queen mattress, while the back bedroom has a King size bed. This back bedroom also has a closet that contains a washer and dryer. The living area has a sofa sleeper that will sleep an additional 2 guests.
In addition to the main house, we have a charming bunkhouse with full bathroom, perfect for extra guests or providing a fun place for the kids. It has a custom made bunkbed featuring a full over a queen, sleeping a total of 4, as well as a sofa sleeper able to accommodate an additional 2 guests. There is also a microwave and refrigerator provided. PLEASE NOTE: FROM NOVEMBER 1 THRU APRIL 15 THE BUNKHOUSE DOES NOT HAVE RUNNING WATER. It is heated for guests to sleep there but they must use the bathrooms in the main house.
The living area of the house is designed for both relaxation and entertainment. It features large windows that flood the space with natural light and offers views of the lake. The fully equipped kitchen, complete with modern appliances and ample counter space is perfect for preparing meals. The adjacent dining area offers a large table and chairs, allowing you to enjoy meals together.
For outdoor fun, we have a private dock ideal for fishing, boating or just soaking up the sun. Please note that the lake does freeze so the dock is seasonal. There are 2 kayaks for you to use and explore the lake, as well as 2 jet ski hoists available if you choose to bring your own jet skis. There is also a spacious deck with lounge chairs and a pergola to provide shade. Under the pergola there is an area for outdoor dining. In addition, there is a BBQ grill, perfect for evening cookouts, and a fire pit for roasting marshmallows under the stars.
We believe our lakehouse provides the perfect blend of comfort, adventure and relaxation. Whether you are looking to unwind by the water, enjoy water sports or simply spend quality time with loved ones, our lakehouse is the ideal destination. Please note that from the middle of July thru the end of August, all bookings are weekly only and are from Friday to Friday

My mom has been visiting Higgins Lake every summer since the 1950s. Four generations of our family have loved and enjoyed Higgins! Heidi thought of everything from comfortable beds and ample seating everywhere to very usable outdoor space and getting us started with s’mores provisions! We look forward to visiting again.

Sandy Bottoms was exactly as represented!The home is inviting & extremely comfortable! Lots of special touches & thoughtful amenities which we appreciated. The kitchen was well stocked with coffee, spices, and many more supplies than expected. The s’mores ingredients were especially thoughtful for the fire pit! :)The dock & hoist was convenient for our Sea Doos. The lake is clean & was very calm most days. We are walkers…the main road has a large shoulder area to walk (or bike) on & many side roads along the lake nearby to walk down. The bunkhouse worked well for my Dad to have a private place to retreat & relax. The owners were easy to contact, quick to respond & reached out to check on us. We travel a lot, mostly to 5-star resorts, so I can be a tough critic & I would highly recommend this property!

Would Book Again!!

This is a beautiful lakefront property with a large deck and fire pit which was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the view. Higgins Lake is so clear and blue! The inside was clean and well appointed. The kitchen was well equipped for any type of cooking. The dining table was large and was situated right between a huge picture window and beautiful stone fireplace. There is also a large TV room with lots of seating. The three bedrooms were spacious and well decorated with good pillows and bedding. Bathrooms were very clean and the water pressure was great...also no issue with running out of hot water!! And it was hot...not tepid like some other places I have contracted with. There is a separate "bunk room" building that we did not use but it was really nice. It had a nice front porch with furniture. There was a little kitchenette with a refrigerator, coffeemaker and it may have had a microwave but I don't remember. There was also a full bath which was nice. Great place for kids/teenagers. We really enjoyed our stay and highly recommend it...an especially nice touch was a Welcome S'mores basket to enjoy around the firepit.

This place was perfect; everything was as expected and pictured. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook. The beds were very comfortable. It was nice to have the kayaks available. Our grown sons, who spent many years on Higgins Lake growing up, were all smiles as if they were teenagers again. We will definitely be back.

House was outstanding. Nicely decorated and well stocked with great amenities. Big kitchen table/kitchen area was ideal for family meals. Outdoor area had outstanding view of lake, nice outdoor furniture and great fire pit. Great space for parking. Neighbors were very friendly. Owners were very responsive and helpful.

Beautiful home complete with everything you need (and all the things you forgot to bring!) These owners thought of every convenience one might need. Very nicely decorated, wonderful beachfront lot. We will be back for sure

Phenomenal!!

What a wonderful place to have a Girls’ Weekend!! Right on the lake with a beautiful vantage point. Place was clean, spacious and stocked with everything one would need. Will definitely be coming back again!!

Great times at Sandy Bottoms!!

My family and I stayed at Sandy Bottoms for a week during July. The hosts are great! All the amenities are right there. We had forgotten our wine corkscrew….there was one in the drawer. It has great views of the lake. You are able to see the sunrise and sunset. The deck is a great place to sit and drink your coffee in the morning. Very nice fire pit as well. Beds are very comfortable. We will definitely be back!!

Absolutely Outstanding!!

Wow, is my word for this amazing home away from home. The owners sure went the extra mile for this outstanding property! Highlights of this home are; comfortable beds and soft sheets, plush towels, open and spacious kitchen, and a terrific living space; and that's just the main house. Wait until you see the extra space for sleeping! The AMAZING VIEW at this home cannot be described! No matter your booking season, you won't want to leave and beg for more time here!

Great property!

We have been staying at Sandy Bottoms for the last 3 years and have loved every minute of it! The main house and bunkhouse are clean, comfortable, pretty, air conditioned for hot nights and well appointed. The views from the large furnished deck are spectacular where you can watch both the sunrise and sunset. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need to prepare great meals and easily seats an army of family and friends along with a beautiful view of the lake. It's also a great place for kids to swim and play since there are stairs close to shore off the dock with shallow water and a sandy bottom (hence the name Sandy Bottoms) which is ideal for little ones. The owners also provide Kayaks and outdoor games like cornhole, for hours of additional enjoyment. They also provide indoor games, cable and internet, and a Nintendo Switch for rainy days or late-night fun. I can't say enough about the place. It's awesome!

Breathtaking & SO beautiful

Sandy Bottoms was the perfect house to make memories at. The location of Sandy Bottoms is perfect to take a day trip out in multiple directions- we picked Mackinaw Island one day. With three children under 10, there was never a board face in sight- corn hole, the steps that led into the lake and the provided board games were the true winners during our stay. The view of the lake was truly breathtaking, I consider myself far from a morning person but I purposely found myself waking up before everyone else to enjoy a peaceful sit on the spacious deck and enjoy the views every morning. As a short term rental we very much enjoyed the fully stocked kitchen and found it very useful. The main house alone was perfect for my own family and bunkhouse was great for the additional guests we brought along. It’s not a big detail but when you notice it, it matters- the towels and bedding smelling like as if you laundered it versus the typical commercial (hotel) smell I feel like contributed to the home feeling. So many other great things to say but to sum it up - it truly felt like a home away from home. We will treasure Sandy Bottom forever and all the wonderful memories we made. We hope to see ‘you’ someday again in the future!

Rent it and they will come

Anyone with grown children and families of their own know how difficult it is to get everyone together. Sandy Bottoms is a sure thing to get them to show up. The boys, our sons, start talking about next year before we leave. The lake is fairly shallow for quite a way out which allows for the little ones to enjoy a swim. The accommodations are first-rate. The beds are comfortable; the kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals, and the view is outstanding. The dock is perfect for overnight mooring of your boat. Heidi, the owner, is very responsive to questions and kept us informed prior to our stay. We definitely will be returning. Donna & Jeff

Beautifully maintained home on a gorgeous beach!

Sandy Bottoms exceeded our expectations for a great family get together. The home and bunk house were spotlessly clean. We enjoyed the indoor games, outdoor toys, wood for nightly fires and even a welcome smores package. Clean, clear, shallow water with floating rafts to play on, 2 kayaks, life jackets and corn hole were provided. We never lacked a single spice, kitchen utensil, hand/dish soap or towel. Much thought has gone into this property and we felt right at home. We didn't have any concerns throughout our stay other than some cool weather. We hope to return next year and bring a boat. Exceptionally clean with a cozy fireplace, plenty of blankets and games for kids or adults although this is a perfect place to simply relax and enjoy viewing the lake. The deck and outdoor furniture are beautiful and the sunrise and sunsets cannot be beat. This is a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend.
