Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay. This is a cabin that is mostly on the upper level. So, there are stairs you will need to go up and down. Has Air Conditioning and heat.

A well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds with TV in 2 of the bedrooms and living room, games and DVDs. From the waterfront you have a view of the river and passing ships.

This cabin is not on the river (you do have water access) and with the freighters passing by you cannot keep a boat in the water without a boat lift.

This is a cabin that is mostly on the upper level. So, there are stairs you will need to go up and down.

Ruthie’s cottage was the perfect place for our family. Plenty of space, clean, comfortable, and a beautiful setting. We loved watching the big ships go by. It made the perfect base camp while we explored the area. Highly recommended and we will return!

We had an amazing time staying at Ruthie's Cottage. Check-in was super easy and there were so many little extras available in case we forgot anything (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, toothbrush, mouthwash, makeup remover wipes, etc). You can see the water and boats from the front porch, but there are also chairs available right at the waters edge to enjoy the view even more. (You will need to walk between a few houses to get to the chairs so watch out for goose poop and dog poop.) The sunrise is a must see but remember the grass is very wet early in the morning. We will be back again next year for our girls weekend and hopefully make this an annual trip.

We felt the listing was deceptive, the pictures showed a lake view, and privacy, neither was true. You could glimpse the lake, we didn't sit in the from deck as we would be looking directly to 2 houses. On the plus side everything we needed was provided, when we had an issue with the TV they came over immediately. It is a charming little place, just not what we thought it was. We had horrible directions, and we weren't told about the awesome park at the end of the road. It's a great park, everyone should check it out!

Loved the cottage! Perfect location. Quiet spot. Perfect location for dogs. Loved the thoughtfulness and little extras available from the owners. Definitely recommend!

The cottage has absolutely everything that you will need for your stay. Watching the freighters was an added bonus, as was Raven the dog.

Very cute cabin. Centrally located, owner was very helpful. We had a great time enjoying being near the water and watching the freighters go by. The back yard gas fire pit was very enjoyable as well

The stay was great. Very nice cabin and very clean cabin. Also great view to the water to spot ships. The hosts were very nice and were quick to reply to any messages. I would highly recommend this host and this cabin. Thank you again.

The cottage was nice, there wasn’t anywhere to sit outside once it rained tho. Also the owners are across the way and kept looking out their windows at us. I have children with me and didn’t appreciate that. Also it looks like you can sit by the water but when we tried, we had to walk through an area where the neighbors dog uses the restroom (so watch for turds) and once we got to where our “chairs” were a bunch of bird alarms kept going off. To the point we felt we were disrupting the people down the way. All around we felt very uncomfortable and almost like a nuisance. The neighbor lady was the only person actually nice to us. If you are coming here to stay around the cottage I’d maybe look for a place more welcoming!

These renters smoked or vaped pot in our cabin. Fortunately, the cabin was vacant for a few days, so we had time to air it out, wash the bedspreads and furniture covers. Their large dog peed on the carpet. We got to clean that up, as well. Yes. The outdoor furniture got wet when it rained. And we occasionally look out of our front door (package delivery, neighbors walking by). We apologize if they felt we were watching them. That was not our intention.

Perfect Getaway

We came to Barbeau for an outdoor getaway. Ruthie’s Cottage was the perfect spot for us, clean, comfy beds, cute decor and a gorgeous 2nd floor view of the St. Mary’s River. The hosts were easily accessible and super helpful. The cottage was well appointed and the kitchen was supplied with all you could want for preparing meals The birds serenaded us all day. It is a quick walk to Dunbar Park, a gorgeous boating and picnic area on the River, and close to Cozy Corners restaurant and the Neebish Island Ferry. This property has everything you could want. Thanks to our hosts for making our stay so fun and memorable.

Ruthie’s Cottage is a lovely getaway. We had everything there that we could want. The host, Patty, was super accommodating of our last minute change in plans. It is so close to beautiful Dunbar Park and the Neebish Island Ferry. I highly recommend it for comfort, beautiful views of the St. Mary’s River and a great host!!

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. Our host was very accommodating and was quick with responding to questions. The place was clean and well stocked with everything we needed in the kitchen and she even had spare toiletries in case we forgot something. Our dog loved the yard space as well.
