Cozy and good location!

Sally and Michael were absolutely fantastic hosts, going above and beyond to make sure our stay was nothing short of wonderful. They remind me of the old days of vacation rentals, where everything was done with a more personal and friendly touch. I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone!

Lovely Mill Valley Stay

We travelled here with our family and had a wonderful time. The property was lovely and exactly what we expected. It was very convenient for us to travel around both north and south of the Golden Gate giving us lots of options to see the area. Would stay here again.

Comfortable garden oasis

From the first moment we stepped through the French doors we felt at home, prepared for and comfortable. The setting is so serene and beautiful. The house was spotless and well equipped for all of our needs. Sally is the consummate host!

San Fran Trip with family

Very Clean. Well accommodated, supplied with everything needed. Setting is beautiful and peaceful. Third bedroom for a child. Lovely short walk to town, which is also lovely. We loved it and would stay here again!! Be aware you must be able to walk up 30 stairs or so which for us was not an issue

An oasis in Mill Valley

We stayed here several days after our daughter’s wedding weekend..looked for a place where we could relax but be close to town..this was the perfect place for us!!! Serene setting (after the 39 steps up)..but so worth it when you opened the gate to a beautiful outdoor patio..would highly recommend & Sara was there if we needed anything (but we didn’t)..a perfect stay in Mill Valley

Definitely Magical

The property itself is exactly as pictured. The home is adorable and has all the essentials. Lots of clean sheets and towels. Tons of windows to open and let in fresh air. You feel like you’re in a tree house when you look out. We all loved it. The location is spectacular. We went into the city a few times and it didn’t feel like a huge trip. We did lots of hiking in the area and it was easy to get to them all. We went to Muir Woods and Stinson Beach, all of which were quick drives. The town itself is magical and we walked to get coffee every morning (and afternoon), walked to the restaurants a few nights, and hung out in the cute Depot Courtyard. Literally everything we wanted to do was close enough that it was easy! I would rebook this exact hike the next time I come back. *I also think this home and location would be SO FUN for a girls trip!!

Excellent Home, Fabulous Location!

Beautifully decorated home with a garden/patio to die for!! The hosts were lovely and communicated very well. We couldn’t have asked for a better location. Close to trails, restaurants, coffee, and great access to freeways as well. As mentioned in the listing, there is a decent climb up some stairs to the front door. We’re pretty nimble but could be tricky with heavy luggage or for elderly folks. One of the showers was a little tricky, but we were having such a great time that it wasn’t really an issue. Also, the listing says there is a bidet in one of the bathrooms but we didn’t see it (we didn’t look very hard but figured it would be obvious - ha). Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for an awesome spot in Mill Valley!

Lovely home in a great location

I rented this property months in advance of my partner's son's wedding which took place in Mill Valley, and was glad I did! The house is charming, clean, and well maintained, and the location was perfect for us. It was so comfortable and relaxing we didn't want to leave, and hope to return some day! I didn't meet Sally, but her husband Michael greeted us when we arrived, as they live downstairs. With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths, there was plenty of room for 2 others to stay with us. Highly recommended for your stay in Mill Valley.

Truly Magical

We rented this property to celebrate a landmark birthday for my mother, who said many times during the course of our stay, “this is so much better than a hotel,” and we wholeheartedly agreed. The gardens are lush, adding a lovely ambience to the space. There are skylights and plenty of windows that offer views of surrounding trees. The furniture and beds are comfortable. There are plenty of throw blankets to wrap up in. (We didn’t make much use of the kitchen, however it appeared to be well-equipped.) The owner added thoughtful touches such as birthday candles, a deck of playing cards and gave us recommendations as to where to find a perfect birthday cake. (The communications I shared with the owner were a particularly delightful experience for me.) The location truly is ideal. It’s within easy walking distance to downtown, which has plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops. It’s surprisingly close to Muir Woods and an easy drive to San Francisco. It was a perfect home base for us, and when it came time for us to go, we didn’t want to leave.

Convenient and Comfortable Stay

My family and I had a wonderful time while staying here. The house is in such a great location to walk to anything you may need. The house is very welcoming and relaxing to just hang out and enjoy the beautiful outdoors but also lounge inside. The stairs to the home were difficult for my MIL but it just depends on your personal mobile abilities. Myself, husband, and kids did just fine, except in the dark you need to be careful. Overall all the house was amazing and the location was wonderful for downtown walking and easy drive to Muir Woods. We would come back for sure!

Mill Valley Bliss!

We stayed at this property 10 years ago and I was thrilled to see it was still available to rent for our most recent visit. It's so charming nestled into the side of the hill. I love that we can wake up and walk to town for a cup of coffee or breakfast. Loved that the Lumberyard across the street has been renovated with shops and restaurants since our last stay. Sally is the best and always so responsive and available to answer any questions we have. If you are looking for a quaint, walkable, charming and clean experience outside of San Francisco this is without a doubt your place!! Oh, and parking is so easy as well! Thank you for everything!!

Great location!

We loved our stay in Mill Valley! There are a lot of steps up to the house, but our kids were old enough to get up and down easily. The house had everything we needed. We loved watching the birds! There are so many great places to walk to from the house, we loved exploring Mill Valley on foot.

Classic Mill Valley Home In The Trees

This location is stunning both inside and out, and the hosts are wonderful! They are very helpful and friendly, making the overall experience very enjoyable. The ambiance is incredibly comfortable, and the presence of Zen-like areas in the backyard adds a touch of magic to the atmosphere. Stayed there with some family and everyone was happy. The living room provided an excellent space for connecting and having great conversations. So close to some great coffee shops and restaurants! We enjoyed by just taking a short stroll down the street.

Location Location Location

A block from everything downtown Mill Valley as well as many trails. Restaurants, coffee shops, groceries the Dipsy trail and many more are an easy walk from this charming cottage. It has a sweet and comfortable patio and hillside garden to admire the plants and birds. There are many stairs to the cottage but well worth the steps. We recommend this spot!

Wonderful stay!

Beautiful property in a great location! We were able to everywhere from the house, including the wedding we were visiting for! Hosts were wonderful in making sure we were able to get in when we needed and had everything we needed. We will certainly stay here again next time we travel out to area!

A perfect tree house a block from Mill Valley square.

This cute and very comfortable house was in a perfect location. And the owner was fantastic getting back to us with any questions. Super quiet at night with a deck that helps you feel like you’re in the woods. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

Remote work /holiday

Great week at this beautiful and well appointed flat with exceptional outdoor space (especially for any ornithologists), in Mill Valley. Our hosts couldn’t have been more helpful, a gem of a place in a really lovely town. We didn’t want to leave.

Great small town getaway

Cute little spot in the hills. Quiet private back porch area. It was perfect for us to come and go and have a spot to rest in between. We walked down to the square for coffee and breakfast every morning and even dinner a couple of nights. Alot to do within a short walking distance. Well equipped kitchen if you want to stay in a cook. Perfect market just down the street with a lot to choose from!

Just a fabulous spot!

We'd needed to find a quiet spot in Marin so we could visit friends up in San Rafael that we haven't seen since covid, so we were very pleased to find this lovely 2 bedroom 2 bath cottage that could comfortably handle the 3 of us. The communication with owner Sally was friendly, clear, and quick. She told us that there are 40 stairs to the cottage, but they weren't too bad, and the stairs make the cottage feel more secret and special, tucked up among the trees with the birds as it is. The landscaping is delightful, and adds an extra outside room. There's a little fountain stream and several strings of cheerful outside lights on timers. The interior space of the cottage is cozy and well appointed - comfortable but not too fussy. The dining table is large enough to seat 6, which means that it could handle our three devices, three phones, a Rummikub game, a map, and some breakfast plates, all at the same time. The cottage is very close to the village of Mill Valley (but not so close as to have any noise), and also close to the start of a great trailhead which goes up to the top of Mt Tam. We only had breakfasts at the cottage as we were out for the other meals, but there's a good on-cooktop kettle to boil water for coffee and tea, plenty of mugs for both, and Equator Coffee just down the block for lattes. We loved staying at this cottage and hope to come back.

Slice of Heaven

This house is absolutely one of the most special places I have had the pleasure to stay. First the house is a one minute walk from downtown Mill Valley, full of great restaurants, boutique shopping and unique local stores. Then the house is located on a hill perfectly integrated with nature. The garden and surrounding nature is breathtaking. Finally, you have the house itself, which feels like a forest cottage far away from reality. It is very clean and we did not experience one issue. There is a fountain outside the master bedroom and the bedrooms have French doors that open to the garden. The owner Sally is sweet, incredible and super responsive. They give you total privacy and have the house full of things you want and you need nothing. I cannot recommend this place more!!

We love traveling and travel a lot.
When we are around, There is a small unit we use downstairs. You most likely will never see us. But when we are in Mill Valley, we are delighted to meet you, answer any questions, and even guide you to some local secret hiking trails. Ect. We always take your lead.
We have also had many repeat guests we have become great friends with. Yet, when we travel, sometimes, we like our privacy . So We will take your lead Either way.

We drove through the Rainbow tunnel and as we came down into Mill Valley, It took our breath away! We felt the Magic .. We found our dream place. Mill Valley is a place you have to see it has a European small-town feel and is outdoorsy, where we raised our children. Now, grown adults are lucky to live here as well.
. We have made many happy memories here. You will feel the love! It is a great home for children, young couples, and worldly wanderers. This is one of the remaining truly Old Mill Valley Homes. No Need to jump in your car. Walk outside and feel the bustle and life of Mill Valley!

It is one of the few remaining original homes, and we have chosen to keep as much original hardwood floorings and restoration glass in the kitchen as possible—lots of history. If you want a new, fully remodeled home, that is not us. We have consciously chosen to hold onto the historical uniqueness of our town and its history and keep our house as it was when it.'
In addition to being within walking distance to Downtown, you have a completely closed-in garden/deck where you may lounge, and it allows for an indoor-outdoor feel due to all the French doors opening onto the deck.. This is the perfect setup for barbecuing. There is also a large heating lamp outside for cool nights. We have some of the most fantastic hiking trails, walking trails ever!! Walk to restaurants, live theatre, cinema, market, coffee houses, shopping, and other downtown amenities, It is the quintessential Mill Valley home perfect for families and can accommodate five people very comfortably.
