Said to be named after Mile End in East London, UK (unconfirmed), this artsy and multicultural (Hasidic, Greek, Portuguese communities, as well as others) neighbourhood is a favourite among locals. Known has Saint-Louis in the late 19th-century, Mile End was annexed into the growing city of Montréal in 1909. Over the years the neighbourhood has been home to several famous Canadians, including Mordecai Richler, Arcade Fire, Bran Van 3000 and more! Today, Mile End is known for its houses with their long dashing wrought iron stairs, shopping and food scene.
Start with the most important quest one can take in Montréal, deciding who makes the better bagel, St-Viateur (263, rue Saint-Viateur Ouest) or Fairmount (74, Ave Fairmount). Wander down the tree-lined streets of rue Clark and Ave Esplanade. Visit the stunning Rialto Theatre (5723, Ave Park; http://theatrerialto.ca/), Admire the architecture of Église Saint-Enfant-Jésus du Mile End (5073, rue St-Dominique) and relax at Parc Lahaie. Église Saint-Michel-Archange de Montréal (5580, rue Saint-Urbain) is also quite beautiful. Shop at Annex Vintage (56, rue Saint-Viateur Ouest), Boutique Vestibule (5170, boul. Saint-Laurent), Boucle & Papier (5183, boul. St-Laurent) and LNF Shop (5319, Ave Park). For cheap (and yummy) eats, stop in at Wilensky’s Light Lunch (34, Ave Fairmount; Once visited by Anthony Bourdain, but made famous by Mordecai Richler) or Drogheria Fine (68, Ave Fairmount; $5 gnocchi never tasted so good). Lounge over weekend brunch at Sparrow (5322, boul. St-Laurent) or Le Butterblume (5836, boul. St-Laurent). Of course, dining at Pizzeria Magpie (16, rue Maguire), La Panthère Verte (160, rue Saint Viateur Est; Vegan), and Bistro Lustucru (5159, Ave Park).
How to get to Mile End by Metro:
From Laurier Station transfer to Bus #51 West (O) in front of the station exit. Take it to St-Laurent Blvd or to St-Urbain Street to begin exploring Mile End.
From Rosemont Station transfer to Bus #161 West (O) at the stop on the northeast corner of Rosemont Blvd and Saint Vallier Street and ride it to Parc Street. This places you at the northwest edge of Mile End. From here you can walk or transfer to Bus #80 going south on Parc Street to travel down the western edge of of the district. Going left (east) will send you deeper into the centre of the neighbourhood.
These bus rides are short (only about 5 or 6 minutes); you can alternately walk into Mile End from either station in just under 10 minutes. Just make your way west from either station.
Please be aware that this apartment is located directly above jazz bar Roseline. During its opening hours (Tuesday to Saturday, 5PM to 12AM), you may hear faint live jazz music coming into the room.

- 1. If you notice anything that presents a danger that could result in damage to the location or to any individuals, let us know immediately.
- 2. Please don't use the towels to remove makeup or anything else that stains. Please understand that we are not a hotel and damaged furniture and home goods are a major issue for us.
- 3. That being said, accidents do happen, so please, if there ever is a problem just let us know. Most of the time it's not a big deal and, at the very least, we'll be able to start figuring out any logistics before the arrival of the next guests. And that's always a huge help for us.
- 4. Be considerate of the neighbors - parties or excessive noise are not allowed, If we are notified of sustained noise you will be charged a 150 CAD fee.
- 5. Also, obviously, no smoking under any circumstances. And for the record, leaning your head out the window does not count as being outside - the smell always lingers. We've had issues with this before, and as such, breaking this rule will incur a 150 CAD fine. Hope you understand!
- 6. Check-out is at 11AM, you will receive instructions on how to request a later check-out (maximum 1PM). Any late check-out before 1PM that was not approved from beforehand will be charged 50CAD. Late check-out past 1PM will be charged for an extra night as it will no longer be possible for us to clean the apartment before the next guest.
- 8. If anything needs to be fixed or repaired, please let us know before 5PM on weekdays, our handyman does not work nights and weekends.
- 9. And for the usual liability clause: Guests take full responsibility for any accidents, injuries, or illnesses that occur while on the premises or its facilities. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises. Guests recognize that they may personally purchase insurance to protect themselves in such events.
