This sweet Lake Champlain cottage is a wonderful retreat for a romantic getaway or small family vacation! Nestled in the trees, this craftsman built cottage is a perfect getaway spot. Tucked in the corner of a large family estate, this cozy cottage's private yard meets over 200 feet of direct frontage on the western shore of Lake Champlain.

While small in size, you'll be impressed by the smart design of this cottage. The vaulted timber ceiling in the master bedroom loft is lovely. The wraparound wall of windows in the 4 season (Cedar) room gives the expanded open living and dining area a sunny, spacious feel. The room is equipped with a pellet stove to keep you toasty warm on the cold nights. The kitchen doesn't cut any corners: you'll find a gas range, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, fridge with freezer, and all the pots and pans you need to prepare meals. Kitchen and living area are one cozy room. Downstairs, the guest room/den has 2 twin beds.

So lovely! Beautiful little cabin on a beautiful piece of land. Our family of 4 had a great time and will definitely look to stay at Nina’s cabin when we visit South Hero again. Nina was a very gracious host.

Beautiful rural location with direct lake access for swimming and potential kayaking/canoeing. The cottage is nicely sized for 2 to 4 people with a well-equipped kitchen and a spacious great room. The property hosts were extremely gracious and friendly. The price per night was a little high given that it was off season. If kayaks and/or canoes had been provided, this rental property would have been perfect.

My wife and I had a wonderful long weekend here, and our 1 year old Corgi loved it too. The house is very cozy with a fantastic room with a view of the lake. Kitchen has everything needed to have meals at the house. Very close to a small grocery/liquor store and one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever gotten takeout from! Our host Nina was very responsive to our questions. Would highly recommend!

This is a very comfortable home on a beautiful piece of property with a gorgeous view of Lake Champlain with the Adirondack mountains in the background. We found some good restaurants and a winery nearby.

Lovely setting on South Hero in a cottage that manages to be cozy while offering ample space, authentic yet comfortable with every amenity we needed for an enjoyable week. We felt right at home and the host was immediately available to answer any questions. The property is well cared for and just as described.

Wonderful and peaceful

We had a relaxing time. The sunroom with the pellet stove was really nice. Home is cozy and lovely. Very quiet and serene area. We did some running and visited the beach- much fun. Dogs had a nice time as well. Nina and Erin were both kind and gracious hosts.

One of most beautiful locations

We had a great stay at this wonderful lakeside home. It was perfect. Great spot. Couldn’t have asked for more. Felt so relaxed and having the lawn and lake access was perfect. Just beautiful. Wish we didn’t have to leave so soon. Thank you Nina!

Cozy Cabin on the lake!

We absolutely loved our stay here. Such a unique cabin and the location is stunning. 15” of snow dropped while we were here, making it even more picturesque and dreamy. Private and secluded but just far/close enough from Burlington to be convenient. Less than an hour from Stowe and Smugglers. Host was super communicative and helpful with a few questions we had. Can’t recommend this place highly enough. We’ll definitely be back.

Cozy little cabin!

This cabin was all that we could ask for. A nice pellet stove in the living room/Florida room was the cherry on top for us! The view of the lake was beautiful and the property was so peaceful. Numa was very attentive and answered our questions promptly. There is a little town close by that may not look like much but is actually very vibrant and full of awesome places to eat/drink/shop. The bed in the cabin is very comfortable which is one of the most important things to me when staying somewhere other than home. We will definitely be booking this one again on our next trip

Memorial day weekend

We wanted a property on lake champlain, a dog friendly property to unwind, and this location was perfect. The yard was big and provided lots of room for our pup to run around and in and out of the lake. Too cold for a swim, but we brought a row boat. The area is beautiful, lots of farmland, nice and quiet, but burlington is a short drive away to enjoy shopping on church street, and a tad further is the Ben and Jerry’s factory’s for a tour. The house was perfect for our needs, and Nina was the perfect hostess. We hope to return next summer!

A lovely birthday weekend on the Island at a very special place

I was very impressed with this place. First, it had everything we needed. It was well-equipped, plenty of linens, the kitchen has everything you need, and there is plenty of space to relax. There is obviously a lot of thought and craftsmanship that went into making this place comfortable. Location is awesome, we loved the trees flanking the back yard and found a perfect place to set up our hammocks. We brought our kayaks and bikes and found opportunities to use both. Amazing sunsets, of course. We would stay there again, for sure. Thank you for being great hosts!

We were visiting family who live in Grand Isle. The location and lake access were wonderful. The cabin/camp was clean but much more rustic than we were expecting for the price. There is one bedroom downstairs off of the kitchen with twin beds but it has no door. There is a second bedroom upstairs with stairs in the kitchen, also no door. So not much privacy. There were people (presumably the owners) living in a trailer on the property but they did not interact with us. Overall, we had a pleasant stay.

Fun stay in Vermont

The cabin in South Hero served as a good home base for exploring Lake Champlain and the surrounding area. The kitchen is well-stocked and clean. The cabin is part of a larger property and shares a driveway with other properties behind it. We were notified only with arrival instructions that we could not park in front of the detached garage as family members use it. Wish we had known these arrangements ahead of time, as we were expecting a bit more privacy. Also, while the bedrooms and living area were very comfortable, we wished the cabin had been cleaned beforehand. There were several insects, both alive and dead, in various areas, which had everyone looking over their shoulder. Despite these inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay and the beautiful area.

We were disappointed with the property as it was not what was described and unpleasantly rustic. First, we had no idea that there would be people living on the property, in a trailer, gardening and fixing things in the large garage. The property was not private and made us uncomfortable. We found out after we left that it was the owners, but they never introduced themselves nor communicated with us other than via text. It also seems that it was their main home, and they moved to their trailer when they rented it. The home is much darker inside than pictured. The bedroom upstairs was fine except it has an electrical outlet without a plate right by the bed, a huge hazard. Also the air conditioning unit is not sealed, letting bugs in. We had an ant infestation in the kitchen, again due to the many holes throughout the home leaving space for bugs to get in. We told them and nothing was done (said they would call a pest control). The twin beds in the other room are very uncomfortable. The fire pit by the lake was unusable, as it was filled with trash. There was no place to sit outside by the water as the chairs were quite dirty and the wooden table was covered in bird poop (all not cleaned before our arrival).Overall the property is not as described and not to the vrbo standards we are used to. For the price, I would have expected much more.

I’m sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. I wish you had brought your concerns to our attention when you arrived. We could have remedied some of your complaints. We have repaired the outlet cover and had pest control initiated. While I understand that some aspects of the property, such as lighting, furnishings, and mattress comfort, can be subjective and vary from guest to guest, I appreciate your perspective and will take it into consideration as I look for ways to improve the guest experience. We LOVED this cottage! It’s really well stocked, everything was perfect, except the weather…. But we had a great time anyway. A wonderful, quiet spot for a getaway on the lake. We would totally come back!

We had an amazing stay in South Hero! The property was absolutely beautiful, with exceptional grounds, a clean and comfortable home, and an amazing pellet stove that made the place feel so cozy. The lake being right on the property was such a highlight, with a rolling grass field, fire pit, and seating that made it perfect for relaxing outside.The home has a wonderful, fun, rustic feel, and it was exactly the kind of place where you can truly unwind. Our dogs had an absolute dream vacation, and our golden especially loved the water!One small note for future guests: the flat rocks leading into the lake can be slick, water shoes recommend. Overall, this was a fantastic stay and a place we would absolutely recommend!!!!

Everything we needed was there and everything worked perfectly. This cabin and its amenities were exceptional and exceeded expectations. The owner was readily available to respond to our needs.

Beautiful location and property on the water.

A simple, rustic and clean place on the lake with a very large yard leading to the shore. Lots of windows facing the water and great entertainment space.
